@mattheww3116 if you are talking about the modernised OTIS, the new indicator is made of segments, so it uses the same character for S and 5

what, one of the last Otis 2000s has been modernised?! plus they weren't that old, i've seen older hospital lifts that are still original, plus the otis 2000s were in fine condition

Kleemann the buttons were changed a long while back now the original didn't hold up at all 5:20 I've never seen that set I must look properly. Oh look its Eden Sqaures faulty Oronas that always break down actually the small lift is reliable currently it's the big lift with bad issues atm
@@TheUKTransportBlogger The express evanses are in the red zone off the corridor near entrance 1 The fifth lift on the map is shown to be in the corridor to the left of the Pickerings, but the lift was nowhere to be seen.. maybe you'll find it on your next visit

An open platform lift that _doesn't_ immediately stop when the _Hold to operate_ button is released has been installed incorrectly/isn't safe for public use. Advise the manager of that store immediately. 🛗🩸⚠
This is a platform lift for wheelchair users. Nothing weird to me. Except the lights on the top of the shaft aren't working and the lift keeps moving when you let go of the button despite the sign telling you to hold it down.

Looking at the design, I think someone needs to make sure this one's (re)programmed correctly. An open platform needs an immediate safety stop (e.g: By releasing the _Hold to operate_ button) which this one doesn't have, suggesting it's not safe for public use. ⚠
@@dieseldragon6756 For some reason, on the outside on each floor, there is a stop button below the call button (but it actually releases the interlock for the door when the lift is at the floor, not stop the lift whilst it is moving)
@@foxslifts The exterior controls (I think) are provided so the lift can be operated by an appropriate person when carrying somebody not sufficiently capable to operate the lift themselves, which is also why the door at the top gives a clear view of the platform and the shaft - It's an external operators station. I don't know if the lift can be operated that way by the public though - It probably needs the operators key. 🔑 Either way: AFAIK this type is _supposed_ to stop immediately if the _Operate_ button is released (i.e: If the user becomes aware of a reason why it needs to stop e.g. entrapment of clothing) which is why it concerns me a lot that this one doesn't. ⚠

Looks and sounds like a cheap little hydraulic lift. If you're going to force companies to modify their buildings to make them accessible to people who have zero overlap with their target market, you'll get cheap, barely-suitable solutions.
I dunno about _zero_ overlap: Many wheelchair users do upper-body sports which don't require any leg/walking ability at all. They go into Sports Direct a _lot_ more than I do...
It's a very odd choice to install this. Most sports direct for this job would have got a Stannah passenger lift
those are just super cheap elevators that make it easy to be wheel chair accessible
Don't be claustrophobic. Also not sure how two people could fit there, or 1 wheelchair and person.

Ooh interesting design for a platform lift, I like the lighting design but I'm not quite sure what I think of the new buttons. The older ones were easier to press by anyone due to the larger size.
