I didn't fully realize what I was getting myself into when I ordered War and Peace. I knew it was big, but not THIS big (1,215 pages)! After almost 4 months of reading, it is finally time to finish this masterpiece. This reading vlog follows my reading of the last 115 pages of the book. Great picks! I hope you get to finish all of them.
Excellent video, my young friend! I really admire your presentation skills and appreciate your deep thoughts on what you read. Very impressed with your book choices as well!
First, congrats on a couple of great reading months! You do an excellent job of expressing important themes in the books without spoiling the stories. I read "Giovanni's Room" earlier this year. It was quite wonderful, although left me feeling sad for quite some after. I am an old man & I remember what it was like "hiding" my true self in a society that was much less accepting than what we now live in (believe it or not!). It is the only James Baldwin I have read, and like you, I hope to read more. Based on your comments, I also believe I would enjoy The Argonauts. You read some pretty emotionally powerful works. I have to spread those out, as I can only take so much sadness before it triggers me to be depressed. At any rate, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Take care 🙂
Greetings from another Logan on BookTube!! I’m pumped to hear your thoughts on your reads and am really excited you are open to reading different genres!! I also joined as a new reader! It has been a very worthwhile endeavor!!
Great video with great books!!
If you like friendship stories you might enjoy “The Music of Bees” by Eileen Garvin. It’s a unique tale about 3 unlikely people that become friends and the author paints a clever metaphorical comparison between the lives of bees in their colonies and human nature. You have some very interesting books there. I like the sound of that Terrace Story especially. Very good video, my friend.
Thank you for the recommendation Trav! That sounds like a book I would love!
I love the colourful covers too 😊 I never got to Tommy Orange's first book but I'm curious about his writing, I hope you share your thoughts once you've read this one.
Very impressive. Well done on both finishing that book and the great video.
I had to come watch your video, and say Congratulations!! So happy you finished reading your chunker. I'm reading one too: Les Miserables.
War and Peace is on my shelves to get to "someday"...the trouble is, I always put it off to read lighter, shorter books. But I am an old man, so I need to get going on it! I really enjoyed the way you did this video, especially the voice over as you read, which is a really cool effect. Congrats on finishing the book and accomplishing this goal!
Interested to hear your thoughts on War and Peace when you finish it!
Hope you enjoy the Kafka!
I appreciated this breakdown of Oliver Twist. This book impacted me in many ways when I first read it. Thanks for bringing up the social commentary, as well as the antisemitism in his writing.
I was not able to finish reading Oliver Twist. Thanks for this vid.
Hi Logan! Welcome to BookTube! You’re going to love the community here. I’m glad you’ve joined us
Great video Logan, I enjoyed the intro and the review and commentary of the book. I've not read Oliver Twist, but I have read _A Tale of Two Cities_ by Dickens. I really should read more from this Victorian author.
Thank you for the comment Fred! This was my first Dickens book. There are so many books I'm hoping to read that it might be a long time before I get back to another Dickens book, but Oliver Twist was a nice introduction to Dickens' style and helped give me a better appreciation of writing during his time.
Welcome to Booktube - I hope you're enjoying Oliver Twist.
Welcome to Booktube, I’m still pretty new here, but I think you’ve come to the right place: the community is very welcoming.
Welcome to Booktube! I’m a fellow Upstate NYer who loves to read on my sunny porch (when the weather allows) 😄. I hope you enjoy this part of RUclips. It’s so much fun to interact with others that love to read and I have found everyone to be extremely nice. It has definitely opened up my reading taste in terms of trying new genres as well. Fantastic job with this tag and welcome again! 😊
Welcome! You did great. I think you will find you have more people to discuss books with than you ever imagined. I’ve subscribed. This community is so supportive. I am a big classics, fantasy, mystery, and historical fiction reader.
Magic Tree House! They are the best. Welcome to Booktube.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing about your new channel! I just finished reading the secret history yesterday by Donna Tartt. It was a great read in my opinion.
Hey welcome to Booktube! When it comes to ideas for me; if it pops into my mind and I immediatly write it down in my phone. I mainly just like documenting my thoughts on what I'm reading and go from there. I'm an avid horror reader but I'm open to other genres as well. Also, if you ever have the chance, I highly recommend Dracula by Bram Stoker. It's one of my all time favorites. And again welcome to BookTube. 🙂❤📚
Hi Logan and welcome
Welcome to booktube Logan! Booktube has definitely deepened my reading experience - I now read more variety and works I would have not considered before. I have definitely made some great (virtual) friends here on booktube which I'm grateful for. Great video, very happy to have you join the community :)
Welcome to BookTube. Great to see you want to broaden your book horizon. I can recommend participating in reading events to help you find out what you like.
Welcome to BookTube! I love that aspect of reading as well. It's amazing to be able to hear from other perspectives and learn, both through nonfiction and fiction. I love that you have a great porch option for reading. I love reading outside. I haven't read Oliver Twist since high school but I remember really really liking it and being impressed with the character of Fagin. Not because of his actual character obviously, but I remember being impressed with Dickens' ability to write such a well-crafted villain. Dickens is one of my favorite authors but Fagin still sticks in my mind as being such a well written character.
Hi Logan and welcome to booktube! We are so happy to have you here 💕💕
