Dual Choice - Dual Oakleigh Plate Champion
Просмотров 2162 года назад
Here is a tribute to champion sprinter Dual Choice who made history 50 years ago tomorrow when she won her second Oakleigh Plate. The Geelong-trained speedster is the only dual winner of the the time-honoured sprint in consecutive years, scoring in dashing style as a three-year-old filly in 1971 and again in 1972. Apologies for the quality of the footage but the late great Bill Collins makes up...

Colider
He is one beautiful horse
People don’t realise this is the greatest sprinter to ever race!
As much as I love Chautauqua , saying he is the best sprinter ever to race is a tad colossal. Black Caviar and WInx were better out and out sprinters!
She was from the first crop of top class English stallion showdown. In addition he sired many other top class horses, and stood at stockwell stud diggers rest victoria.
Amazing Filly and Mare was Dual Choice...Carried a Massive 59.5kgs in the '72 Oakleigh Plate...She Really WAS a Champion.
Dual Choice was a Champion Mare, no doubt about it....She carried a massive weight in this her 2nd Oakleigh Plate, namely 59.5Kgs (9.5)....She was then beaten by a Half Length by Crown in the '72 Newmarket H'cp, when Carrying a Mammoth 60.5Kgs (9.7) and giving the winner an 8Kg advantage.....It was Run in Race Record Time, 1 Min 9.3 Secs and was her last start before being retired....They talk about Black Caviar doing amazing things, but she never carried the weights that Dual Choice did...A Champion Mare and VERY Underrated by The Racing Fraternity....Cheers from Damo.
Actually this was her 1st Oakleigh Plate in 1971, not her 2nd one in 1972....Sorry bout that, with Cheers from Damo.
As I wrote recently on another dual choice video, she was by showdown a top class English horse, infact she was in showdowns first crop a truly great sire, although through many unsound horses among them. He stood at stockwell stud diggers rest Victoria for an enormous stud fee for those times.
@@iansmith587 Yeah Ian, Showdown produced Many Champs and some Very Good Gallopers, as well....Tontonan and Toy Show were Champions along with Dual Choice, but Royal Show, Silver Sharpe, Show Ego, The Judge and Ease The Squeeze were Pretty Good, as well...Probably The Last Really Good Horse that Showdown Produced was Love A Show, who won the 1983 Blue Diamond and then ran a close 3rd in The '83 Golden Slipper, when she was on the Melbourne Leg the whole way...She wud have Won, if she cud have changed over to the Sydney Leg....It was Her last Start, as she Injured Herself in the Race, but soundness was a problem for all of Showdown's Progeny, as U said Ian.....Cheers from Damo.
Oops, forgot Leica Show, who was a Champion Mare by Showdown that Won the '74 Wakeful Stks and '74 VRC Oaks...She went on to win Many Sprint Races, such as the '75 William Reid Stks, The '75 Canterbury Stks, The '76 Alister Clark Stks and was narrowly Beaten in the '76 Lightning Stks and '76 Newmarket H'cp.....Cheers from Damo.
Tremendous Win by the Brilliant Filly, Dual Choice....She Was Awesome!!
Wow, What a Win by the Brilliant Mare Dual Choice....Absolutely took-off at the 400m Mark and Her Arch Rival Baguette cudn't go with her. Tauto, a Very Strong Sprinter Miler, Finished Strongly, but cudn't pick-up Dual Choice....AMAZING Win This!!!
No wonder Regal Vista was a certainty in the Muntham Hcp at Casterton
Looking like a teenager Sharky...
in which country can this horse be found? and was he bred?nice to see his pony.. Thanks
Aussie gun race horse
Australia best sprinter to ever race!! CHATAUQUA
All race horses should get a chance like this after racing.
He is really NICE to ignore the riders unsteady hand and wobbly reins (either hold steady contact with the snaffle rein and drop the other pair pleeeeeze!!!!) But what a wonderful horse, wow.
U do realise his still learning? They are learning each other? His a horse off the track that didn’t want to be ridden anymore. Fair to say that ur judgment on the rider is is completely wrong. Everything u have tried to run the rider down for will come later on. Taking a horse like this off the track and turning it over to a new discipline AINT no easy task. How’s about some positive vibes
Hes a stunning show horse.
He takes my breath away........Stunning horse.
He said 'No' to racing great to see him looking do well.
Show hunter. Looks stunning.
Looks great in his new career as a show jumper.
yes, looks great but as a dressage champion. What a wonderful and friendly creature!
@@MollyGrue1 so he is doing dressage not show jumping?
@@dianehenkel9088 what is he doing in the video? Do you see him do one single jump? Did I miss something?
@@MollyGrue1 I thought he was being trained as a show jumper. Other people are saying he is going to trained for dressage so I really don’t know. Dressage is so disciplined with precise movements. Chautauqua has a mind of his own. I think it would be easier to transition into show jumping but who knows.
@@dianehenkel9088 look, classic dressage is just like "tuning" comunication between horse and rider, or gymnastics for the sake of the horse to keep it fit. In fact, even the most famous show jumpers had solid "dressage" training and it did them well. What you see in the world class dressage is just "show" - and often has nothing to do with the classic way of horse training developped by guys like Pluvinel or Guerinière in 17th century france - or based on antique greek Xenophon who was the first to write about it. In the clip, Chautauqua moves easily, without pressure or tight reins. I think he has a beautiful (yet strong) character and responds well to being treated well. He moves like all horses like to do in a natural way. Down on the race track, he just defended himself before being destroyed. Maybe he had a heart-, or lung- or leg-problem nobody knew about, and hurt? Maybe he was just fed up with being whipped during finish while running his butt off anyway? Headstrong horses are quite ok - I had one for 26 years. You have to win them over, to convince them to work for you. Comittment is no one way road. they just turn around if you are not with them a 100% and thats their bl*** right. They risk their bones for us humans.
Well done Tom and Rob
Keep posting historical races please
She will forever stay in our hearts...
