Make a Travel Trinket Tray
In this video tutorial I’m going to show you how to sew a trinket tray that can be laid flat in your suitcase but quickly be made 3d to hold all the bits and pieces that land up spread over your dresser or side table when you travel.
If you place all your bits in here you’re less likely to leave things behind.
Thank you to Laurie at Travel Tips by Laurie for this wonderful suggestions.

Using just two ingredients, you can make your own yoghurt for a lot cheaper than you can buy it in the shops. You will need yoghurt and milk that’s it. In this video I’ve used semiskimmed milk and yoghurt from my previous batch of yoghurt. If this is your first time making it get yourself a small of natural yoghurt or Greek style yoghurt as your starter. And more exciting news, I also have a ...

@@TimothyAsbridge_TENOR such a lovely gift from your gran. 😊🧵
Dear Hesketh Emporium - Thank you for this wonderful threading video -- it's a life-saver for me! Now I know how to thread my New Home! So yes, we managed to get our hands on this same 950 model which I'm preparing for a big curtains job coinciding with my mother's visit to us (in Ireland). The lady who sold it to me said something about getting the machine serviced and having the pressure checked. There's a notice on the machine saying the 950 was last serviced in 1996, would you believe it? Can you advise what exactly is the pressure on a machine and whether or not it needs serviced at all? Appears to be working just fine but I'm a total amateur. Thanks, Danny
Hello and thank you for the kind comments. I would definitely give it a thorough clean and oil. You will find plenty of great videos online to show you how. Just take photos if you are going to take things apart so you can reassemble them. I assume they were talking about the pressure the presser foot put onto the fabric. If the pressure is too light it won't pull the fabric through the feed dogs and if it is too tight then it is the opposite problem. Most machines have a way to change this and I hope you find some more information online. I service and clean and oil most of my machines myself and it was trial and error as you cannot afford to have this many machines serviced by a store. :-)
Danny that the same problem I'm having I hope she add that video soon.
I have this same machine but the small wheel that spins the bobbin is very stiff and won’t turn when you push down on the foot. Do you have any suggestions to fix this?
Hello, often this is because the rubber o'ring that is on the base of the bobbin spindle (inside the machine) has hardened or broken from age. This rubber ring connects with the hand wheel and creates the spin to wind a bobbin. It is easy to check this by removing the top. Good luck. x
I just picked up a similar model and had NO idea how it works. Without this video, I wouldn’t know where to start. Thank you so much for uploading this video!!! 🙏❤️
Tnx so much for the video I got this machine as a gift I didn't know how to use the straight course it was zigzag the video was helpful .❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, what a wonderful gift. Happy sewing :-)
How do I get the thread holders to come back up
Hello, usually they are just pushed in and then pulled back up. Sometimes these get bent and this is very difficult. Try dropping a bit of oil and use pliers to see if you can pull it up. Good luck.
How do I gey the spool pins to come up
thank you so much!
Awesome! I just recently decided to learn to hem my own pants. I have a model 220 brother super streamliner that was my grandmother's. Unfortunately she has passed on and my mother never picked up on sewing so im in the early stages of learning how it all works. ❤
I love it when people inherit a family sewing machine. So special and I wish you all the best for an amazing and crafty future. x
What do you recommend for sliding glass cabinet doors? I imagine this method would peel off with sliding… thank you!
You may want to consider making the picture or lace a tiny bit smaller all the way round and as long as when it slides the panels don't touch, it should work. Definitely worth a try as you can just remove it :-). Also consider the self adhesive lace designs for windows.
Thank you for making the manual available!
Howdy Michelle, well articulated and a good listen. Best wishes on this journey.
Thank you so much Mark I really do appreciate the encouragement. Love Michele.
Thank you I just found my grannies machine exact same as this 😊
I used my Bernina nova after few years. It turned on fine, i changed the light blub and all of asudden the motor was smoking ,just a lot of smoke was coming from the back. unplunged it quickly. Cleanened it. Now the machine will run few minutes when i use the presser foot then stop. what can be wrong can i fix it myself, TIA
You demystified installing the bottom bobbin, I am very happy. It’s been the one thing that I haven’t been sure of- thank you!!
Yippee! Happy sewing.
thank you for this Video. i have got one from my aunt. now i can use this cool tool. this sewing machine was terrible expensive in the 60th. i can read the price on the manual. 7450 Austrian Schillings. that would be 2640€ Euros today. o man. i'm so proud.
I think the timing is out won't pick up bobbin how do you fix it please
Hello, timing is a difficult thing to do unless you have the maintenance book for your particular machine. It probably will need to go into a technical.
Thank you this video really helped to get me started with my grandmothers machine
Hi ive just been gifted a Vintage Jones machine. This looks to be incredibly helpful. Although im unsure if i have a zigzag foot? It has only come with one and doesnt look wide enough although the settings are on the machine to use. Its an incredibly heavy machine. Im quiet new to sewing and only used a modern Brother so far. Have a lovely day and thanks again 😊
I have this exact model. I need to turn some net curtains up for a friend. But for some reason my stitches will not pick up. Please help
Hi Ronnie. Sadly this is not really a problem I can diagnose online but here are a few things to consider. A) is the bobbin inserted the correct way round as per your instruction manual. This is usually with the thread unreeling in a clockwise direction when facing you. B) have any of the tension dials been moved accidentally? C) change your needle to a new one in case it is bent. D) rethread the entire machine too and bobbin in case it’s not correct or in the tension disks correctly. E) your timing may be out and unless you are familiar with this adjustment you would need to have it serviced. Good luck and I hope you come right. 😊
Whoa! Totally awesome!!!
It is amazing and a lot of fun too. A great way to decorate with kids as well. 😁🧵🪡
Hello! I just acquired one of these machines and it’s missing the presser foot. Would you happen to know a model or style of replacement I need to get for it? Thanks!
Hello. Most of the low shank clip on feet should work and they are very easy to buy online. Good luck.
Thank you! Great tutorial 😊
My pleasure and happy sewing. 😁🧵
Oh, thank you SO much! I'm going to write a note in my manual about changing the plate to zigziag before I do a buttonhole!!!
Absolutely right and a great reminder. 😁
I love you. I just got this machine and have no idea how to use it
You are very welcome and good sewing. 😁
Thank you
You're welcome 🧵🪡😊
Thanks for sharing that. Good to see your perseverance too. I have trouble doing it and feel frustrated and give up. I've seen others wrap twice before going behind thumb...but your method makes a smaller knot.
I also love trying new methods. 😁🧵🪡
Very good..! ...and so clear and easy to see. Thank you...!
You are welcome! 🪡🧵
Did you make the shirt with this machine? The stitches are beautiful!
Yes I did and it does sew beautifully and this is why I love my old Berninas. 😊🧵🪡
Very nice!
Thanks!
thank you for the manual
Our pleasure!
I want to do this on an interior flat door. The fabric is polyester (a semi sheer drapery panel) is there a way to protect the fabric once it dry from stains?
Hi, this is meant to be removable so I would think that anything you put onto it to protect the surface may interfere with this. Just be careful where you place it so it cannot get dirty perhaps. Good luck with whatever you do.
Very helpful thankyou
Thank you. Really helped me.
Glad to hear it!
Thank you for this video. Trying to learn to use my late mothers elna contessa 450. Any videos showing what size stitches for different fabrics. Having difficulty with reversing to secure the start n end of stitching too. Getting a whole bunch up of cotton underbeath😢
Hello, you need to press in the white button at the centre of the larger blue one to allow you to reverse. If it isn't pushing in then you really need to get the machine cleaned and oiled. If you are getting bunching underneath then I would start with rethreading the bobbin as this is usually where things have gone wrong. Generally the finer the fabric the smaller the stitches and for heavy fabric a nice long stitch. Always practice on a piece of the fabric you are going to use in your project. For general cotton I use a 2.5mm length. Good luck and keep practicing. 🙂
Your video was somewhat helpful something similar to mine but can someone post a link on how to thread a Brother Charger 661 sewing machine ? thank you
Sorry but I don't have this machine to demo.
Can you store this for later use?
Hi, I have stored it in the fridge for a few days and then thinned it down to reuse it however I am not sure if it is as effective. But give it a try there is no harm as you can always redo it 🙂
With practice will give this knot a whirl. Thank you! ❤
So many different ways to do things 🙂
