BTS debuted in 2013 as a HIP HOP IDOL group. You should check out the other two rappers. All seven members are unique in their artistry, and they can all rap, dance, and sing. RM's album is an alternative Hip Hop album. You should check it out. All seven have released solo projects, JIN is the last of the 7 to release an album, and that will be on November 15. BTS ARMY are generally not KPOP fans, they are lovers of good music. So you won't see them stanning other groups. But there are some ARMY's that do like other KPOP groups. I personally have a few songs here and there that I like from KPOP, and I have artists I like that are not KPOP. BTS ARMY are global and over 300 million and counting. Did you catch that the whole episode is his artificial reality? His dog appears on the hillside, all the people in the polaroid image are him, he does the dance in a motion capture booth, the snail and butterfly are glowing constructs, etc. V is lonely and trying to recreate his memories.

Everyone's recommending his songs in English, but the only Korean aspects to these songs is that JungKook comes from South Korea. So try his songs in Korean: Begin, My Time, Euphoria, Stay Alive, Still With You, and his verses in BTS songs Your Eyes Tell, Boy With Luv, Run BTS, Magic Shop, So What, 134340, etc.

Back to add a recommendation for the whole BTS group: their song IDOL. It incorporates some South African beats and part of their wardrobe uses African cloth. The official MV may seem really, really random, but it's actually stuffed full of Easter eggs--they took every bit of criticism that had come their way and responded to it. They were accused of being too western? Well, here's a bunch of Korean cultural symbols. They use filters and CGI? Let's double down!! Suga is too pale? Now he's wearing a Snow White sweatshirt! You might want to pair this with an explanatory video by DKDKTV, which explains a lot of it. And then I'd recommend watching IDOL in live performance, because it's amazing how energetic it gets both the guys and the audience. There are two (at least) iconic performances--the 2018 version at the Melon Music awards, where they do it with traditional dancers, drummers and instruments, and at the 2019 Love Yourself: Speak Yourself concert in Osaka as part of the medley of Dope, Baepsae (which needs a whole post by itself--just know that it's savage social commentary and a big FU to those in power), Fire, and then IDOL at the 7 minute mark. Actually, all three of the first songs are directed at young people facing a meat grinder education system and a terrible economy in which it's really hard to gain a financial foothold, and are worth listening to and getting explanatory context from explainers like DKDKTV, Bookish theories, and Minidancer (though she's not around anymore her videos live on). If you've got time, that entire concert is one of their best EVER--astounding versions of some solos (Jin's Epiphany, Jimin's Serendipity, V's Singularity), the rapline's Outro: Tear, and the whole group in Anpanman (with bouncy castle!). As for next member , I vote for Suga (real name Min Yoongi) but his videos using his Agust D persona. Agust D is where Yoongi puts his anger and trauma, and he spent 3 albums working out his issues and identity. It's a truly raw, personal, and ultimately moving journey that I can't praise enough. This trilogy is at the heart of it: Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala--please watch all three in that order. A key piece of info--Yoongi says that you don't get scars from trauma, but from your response to trauma. These are not only his therapy, they are really stellar bits of movie making. And then you can finish off with Snooze--it's beautiful, it's got the last piano score from the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, and it introduced ARMY to the singer Kim Woosung, who's part of The Rose, another group I think you'll like. They're a Korean rock band--good songs are Back to Me, Alive, Red, and You're Beautiful. New subscriber--have fun with Korean content!

RM used to stand for Rap Monster, but he picked that name at age 16 or so, and grew out of it. His real name is Kim Namjoon (as in other Asian cultures, the family name is first. Kim is the name of 20% of the Korean population, including two other BTS members). Just a note: JungKook's name uses both syllables, his family name is Jeon. I believe that part of this is about the artificiality of TV interviews--as the leader and spokesman for BTS, RM suffered through a lot of inane interviews, especially in the US where hosts didn't bother to do any research and treated them like space aliens--just asked them for their favorite body part or colors, etc. The other folks in this video are parts of RM's personality, even the goofy guy. BTS was created around RM--when BigHit's founder first heard him in 2010, he signed him immediately and set about building a hiphop group around him. He later decided that hiphop wouldn't be as financially successful, so they started adding vocalists to become what's called an idol group. Some of the rappers they were working with quit then, but RM, Suga, and J-Hope made the difficult decision to stay. And it was difficult, because they got real shit from other rappers they knew for being sell-outs. There's some famous footage of other rappers dragging them for that, for abandoning "real rap", for being girly since idol groups wear makeup, etc. Recommendation that you watch a guide about the group: ARMY favorite tends to be one by Purple Snow as most up-to-date, but it's 2 hours long. Default is one by Taylor Mari called (I think) the Bangtan 7, just be aware that it's 2 years out of date so they've blown past all of the records (most streams, number of awards, etc).

A little background: 13 members (you counted only 11 at times because 2 members had limited availability - one due to miliary enlistment and the other due to filming a movie in China. But they all do appear in this MV). Each member belongs to one of 3 subunits: vocals, performance, hip hop. So you do have main singers, main dancers, and main rappers. But don't let that fool you because the rappers and dancers can also sing and the singers and rappers can also dance. So they're really a group of all rounders. They debuted in 2015 and they are self produced. So they have a HUGE discography that is very diverse, because they have a lot of creative control. They are known as the Synchronization Kings, the Theater kids of Kpop, and a performance powerhouse.

It will be very interesting seeing the dance practice video for this when it comes out. Because this MV looks like it was filmed awhile ago and they probably only had the bare minimum of the choreo learned. Because they definitely showed out when they performed this live last weekend. So the dance practice for this will probably be really good. If you like the dancing, check out basically any of their other dance practices. They're all so good. Super satisfying to watch 13 members with such perfect synchronization.

If you want to see Seventeen dance, then check out their song Super and Maestro. They are know for their top tier synchronization. Also, no there isn't 17 members in Seventeen. Its 13 members. They have 3 units (hip hop, vocal, and performance), if you add it up (13 +3+being 1 team) it comes up to Seventeen. I can be confusing at first but once you get into them, it becomes less so. Of course in unit specific songs, certain members have longer/bugger parts, but when its a ot13 group song, everyone gets a part.

I interpret this MV as the girl is going through difficulties in her life, hence the song starts with "weight of the world on your shoulders I kiss your waist and ease your mind" and constant earthquake, flooding etc represent that. Also notice all these things are affecting him more than the girl, he passes out then he even almost dies lol because she has learnt how to survive in those problems and that's why she is trying to push him away because she doesn't want him to get hurt So this is basically him saying I would be there though all hurdles and he is trying to prove that And in the end when she finally accepts him and let him in, the thunder stops but it's still lightening meaning difficulties are still there but now they don't hurt that much because she can share with someone

You can’t be an Korean idol if you can’t dance, it’s a pre-requisite. K-pop has a infamously intense trainee system where companies train idols to be ‘oven ready popstars’ from day 1. Not every trainee will make it to debut. Jennie debuted in BLACKPINK in 2016 via YG Entertainment, so she’s pretty much a veteran atp. If you truly couldn’t dance to save your life you likely wouldn’t survive 😅 Some K-pop trainees are weaker dancers than others, but they have to make up for it in other ways. ie. Be exceptionally vocally gifted, a phenomenal rapper, or have a very visually appealing face that can sell. Being a great dancer used to be a much more a requirement for American pop stars but since this has declined, Koreans have filled the gap in the market.

Yup, u were right,almost all kpop artists excel in dancing as well. Well, all kpop companies have a training period for their future to be young artists. After they're selected from thousands of applicants (or scouted) , they usually follow a training period lasting several years. For example, YG (Blackpink's company & 1 of the BIG 3 in South Korea) trained the 4 Blackpink members from young age, for 4 to 6 years (if I'm not mistaking Jennie trained for 6 years). During the training period, besides school hours (almost all kpop trainees start from very young age, usually 10-15 y old) all they do is training professionally (from morning to dawn, usually for 8 to 12 h daily, with weekly & monthly evaluations), polishing their vocal skills, rap, diction (some following foreign language classes like english, japanese, chinese or if they're not native koreans, learning korean at a very fast pace), scenic presence & dance skills. So u can only imagine the dedication & hard work these young artists are capable of, to reach a lvl of excellence, frankly not found in the western music industry. Sure, in western music we have amazing artists as well, some with astounding vocal skills or being great performers, but none, in my opinion reach this lvl of all-round skills. And I can say that I'm totally unbiased, being a 42 y old European, who listened & being exposed to western musical all my life & who only discovered kpop around 3 y ago- Blackpink being my 1st group that I've listened to.
