Tool Tank Project.
Quick little video of the boys rebuilding an old 1990 Dodge W350 service truck.
The previous owner had passed away and it sat in a barn, in pieces for several years. It was carefully pieced back together and put in service at Red Rock Ranch.

Awesome build been thinking of making one
Sweet looking sawmill shed! Beautiful setting - ready for that green, May weather. We are a muddy, snowy mess here in North Idaho! Looking forward to seeing more videos from your channel. 😄
Thank you. You as well. We have about 4’ of snow around now. Being up at 5000’ of elevation that stuff usually sticks around till April.
In safe for young lad to be running the saw in all that brush without good boots long pants and chaps and helmet.
Finally a real build not a 10,000$ truck turned into a 20

What's the total cost to build
Hard to say, with metal prices nowadays. I built it about 20yrs ago. Pretty much all left over steel, except for the two twenty foot 4x4” angle iron pieces, for the tracks. And some miscellaneous hardware.
Have you tried cutting both directions ? The mill design is perfect.
No Sir, we have not.
Great design!
I put mine on a Canadian tire trailer
Hi Kevin, yes we have a small trailer this goes on. There is a receiver hitch welded in the front for a tow hitch.
I found it cut much better with the cannon bar and 2 saws with the 404 chain
@@kevinswanson3910 Nice
I looked it up they still sell the bars ,they call them the sawmiller
@@kevinswanson3910 who makes them?
I built one of these mills over 20 years ago I had 2 saws on a bar one on each end
Great job and thanks for the great video
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Nice! Thanks
Been nice if you showed more of how it works. How you raise with bar, how you lock down the logs..
Hi Mark, if look through our other videos I do a walk around of this mill. If there is something else you would like to see. Let us know. Cheers RRR
I wouldve build the deck higher at the start so your cutting down hill🤣
Nice. I would like to get one.
Nice. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Also wondering if a electric motor could be used as mine will be stationary
Yes, it sure would. We are an off grid Ranch so it only made sense to use a chainsaw
I will copy this if you dont mind ? what did you use for the adjusting rods. Allthread?
Hi George Yes, it’s allthread. I believe its 3/4” or 1” the saw bar holders are welded to a connecting nut threaded onto the allthread. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions. Cheers RRR
How much wood should it cut before you would have to replace the motor
Well with proper fuel mixture & maintenance the chainsaw motor should last a while. We mix the fuel/oil ratio about 40:1. Sure smokes a little more but that extra oil helps keep the saw motor well lubed. We’ve been running that saw motor nearly 15 years. Still great compression & power.
@@RedRockRancher wow thats good to hear I'm planning on buying a stihl ms881. I'm hoping it'll cut enough planks I can rip down on a tablsaw to build a house
I think on one of our other chainsaw mill videos, it shows how we edge the planks once there cut. No need for a tablesaw. Just stand up a bunch and rip them down with the mill. It’s way easier cutting then when your slabbing, so goes fast.
@@RedRockRancher awesome thank
Good job that's awesome. But I like the band saw style seems to be faster but preference i guess. I just recently built a mill still learning not criticizing.
Thx for the kind words. We also have a bandsaw mill. Stay tuned we have alot of content from the summer the we’ll be posting.
Why chain saw and not a belt saw
Chainsaw seemed like a better choice for an off grid property. Thx for the input, thou.
@@RedRockRancherhai
Congrats, nice 50cc scooter 🤣😂 wtf man get a real bike, this thing has no power. Big waste of money. A uncorked Drz400 or dr650 would be a proper choice.
...and folks, we have the typical keyboard douche with us today. The best part of Keith ran down his mom's leg at conception.
Nah, they're cracking trail bikes......for those who don't have to compensate for small dicks.
Narrate whats going on instead of music
you can automate it by using some garage door springs, cable, pulley, and a cheap power in - power out rv winch. Use spring tension to pull saw through the tree and winch to reset it with.
Thx, for the suggestions. We also have a bandsaw mill, which We mainly use. We use the chainsaw mill mostly for beams.
Can I contact you about how you attached the lead screws at the bottom/top? Email? Thanks!!
I got a 2nd gen with a 5.2 gasser and a meyer 8'6 as a back up but when the shit gets deep I go to the dodge 240k on the motor and it pushes snow like nothing else
That’s awesome! we have about 400k on this old girl, and ya they push like a tank.
@@RedRockRancher truly best built trucks for work trucks imo...
Is this for sale? What is your asking price? Where is it located?
Hi Tom, We’re located in Vancouver BC
Finally someone makes a new vid on these style mills
Joe Biden is faster than that thing , why are chain saw mills so slow ? Tooth design ? Lack of power ? I think someone has to come up with a whole new tooth design made for ripping . Make the tooth T shaped instead of ? shaped
There’s a lot faster ways of cutting with a chainsaw mill. We can cut at least twice as fast through larger diameter hard oak with a saw that’s 14cc’s less. Full skip chain, 10 pin rim, 50 thou on the rakers, and angle the bar for bigger chips. We haven’t cut much pine, but soft pine is usually 3-4 times faster. Edit: I come from a heavy equipment tech background and have successfully modified lots and lots of equipment over the years, and was usually told it wouldn’t work. I started experimenting with chainsaw mill many years ago and did a good bit of experimenting and research. There’s a lot of repeated ignorance out there when it comes to equipment and the chainsaw world is the worst. I experimented with it because of my background. Chainsaw slabbing mills are inherently slow, especially compared to a much thinner kerf bandsaw mill with 3 times or more power.
Granberg has some good ripping chain with special tooth design. I’ve thought about T tooth design for a while and I’m not if I would work that good.
Get some ACDC going buddy I like ur set up build a sawmill just like what you have but use a electric motor single phase 5 horse you will like it I like mine you don't have to push as hard either
you have pictures you can share ?.Electric motor is what I want to use and put my Carriage on a slope
Sweet guys! I love that bike, own one myself...
Why? Are they going to a 300? I hope.
Hi, not sure. Yamaha has been keeping it quite a secret. I’ll be sure and let everyone know once we find out.
Great video... Any info on fuel usage?
Hi, yes we are using a Stihl 056 magnum (about 100cc). Running a 32” bar at about 75% throttle thru a 28” X 18’ Log, we can get about three passes. Thanks
@@RedRockRancher Great info thanks, I've got a 2101xp and I'm cutting a 46" diameter silver maple and it seems like I'm filling the tank every couple of cuts.
There is two for sale by me. 2020. Amazing condition. I think I want a super tenere tho.
The plastics are impossible to find on those bikes
Since when?
Hi, what you using for a Throttle lock? I use cable tie, Not to tight though don't need it screaming!
Hi Fred, We normally used a lawn mower throttle. We drilled a small hole into the finger throttle and clamped the throttle house off. Work good. Until you need to switch saws, lol. Thx for watching!
👇 𝓅𝓇o𝓂o𝓈𝓂
lots of noise, lots of fumes, lots of fuel, lots of sawdust . not really worth it are they
Ya, lots of work! But if you compare the cost of a bandsaw mill, I think your still a bit ahead. Stay tuned our Bandsaw mill build should be up in a bit.
Negative Nancy here, they are worth it, by all means continue buying lumber from Home Depot and Lowes, their stock holders appreciate it.
what undercoating did you use?
Hi Ben, we wire wheeled everything and used POR15 on it. It’s been about two years now of year round daily driving and some logging roads. She’s still holding up fantastic.
@@RedRockRancher thank you I am resting a 95 2nd gen dually and I wanted to undercoat it like yours👍
Make it to be supermoto 😍
Отличная пилорама получилась !
Nice set up. I subscribe and im going to watch some more of your videos and hope to see the chain saw holder how you built it. My brother inlaw just moved to Alaska and im wanting to build him something like this. Take care and stay safe.
Any chance you have specs on building the carriage and trestle?
Cool video. Drop the music next time and you'll get more subs and likes
Absolutely correct!
lol I like the no f's diamond plate taillights, I want a plow truck now
HaHa aren’t they awesome. They even match the drivers door patch. Let us know if you want them, lol.
I had to drive 2 hours to pick up the last one in my area last May.... best decision... love the bike!!
That’s awesome Dan. We love ours too. Unfortunately they’re put away for the winter now.
Same here. Last April a dealer 2 hours away had one left in stock. Love mine.
Nice set up! What size saw are you running?
Thanks J. The saw is a Stihl O56 Magnum. Approximately 100cc. We’re running a 36” bar and an Oregon ripping chain. Cuts nice just gotta keep the chain sharp, and lots of lube.
Muito bom
Nice
Good bike to buy! I love my WR250R. Now the fun part of decking out your new WR's. Cheers!
How long do you let the lumber dry before using it?
We sticker them up and let them sit over winter in the greenhouse.
