My very favourite solo for cornet. It is sad and wistful in part but so beautifully composed by such a celebrated composer.

If a new version of this march were to be composed today, I'd suggest the title to be "Under 134 flags" as the Salvation Army now serves in 134 countries with Thailand being the latest.

I love watching these clips but none I've watched have played the old traditional hymns!

Since I heard the first playing of this at a Music Congress too many years ago it has been one of my favorite marches. The words in the final section are Lord we are able , Our spirits are thine. Remold and make us, like thee Divine. Thy guiding radiance above us shall be. A beacon to God , to love and loyalty.
