Staggered Away Screen | Davidson Wildcat's Secondary Break
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
Under Bob McKillop, Davidson would flow into a staggered away screen anytime the ball was passed to the trailer and he reversed the ball. Often times the player coming off the staggered screen would tight curl or reject the screens, which triggers a screen the screener action (2nd screener in the stagger screens for the 1st screener).

The Right Way to Closeout & Contest

The "Sprint Stop Closeout" as it is becoming commonly known as goes against traditional closeout principles of high hands and choppy feet. However, it is what the best defenses are doing to defend against the highest level players. www.hooperuniversity.com/breakdowns/the-right-way-to-closeout-and-contest

Screen Low, Stay Low to Attack the Switch
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.2 года назад
Screen Low, Stay Low is a concept used to attack a switching defense where the ball screener screens the lowest part of the on-ball defender's body before rolling. This allows the screener to seal that defender on the top side after the switch.
The Basics of the Peel Switch

The "peel switch" is a defensive concept that has become popular in recent seasons, and is a way to prevent putting "2 on the ball" whenever the on-ball defender gets beat off the dribble. www.hooperuniversity.com/breakdowns/the-basics-of-the-peel-switch
Stampede the Catch (Run Through the Pass)
Просмотров 5 тыс.2 года назад
To "stampede" the catch means to run through the pass or catch it on the move. This is effective because the defender's momentum is working against him as he closes out. This is a great concept to use to combat nail help and use when "shaking" up from the corner in a spread ball screen.

very good video bro thank you
When do we not ice the screen
the low man on the weak side is also important to help on the roller diving to the basket allowing the player in drop enough time to contain the ball handler
Is this simple enough for a Ms team
Yes, we just instilled this for a 6th grade team and within the first three weeks they are understanding it foundationally. They will just need to keep getting more reps. Work on jump stop drills, passing drills, and show them live and on paper.
No drop coverage period. It’s lazy man defense and good teams will destroy you. Dallas rolled through Minnesota last year on the way to the finals facing Rudy Gobert in drop coverage, essentially in no man’s land. It’s bad defense but everyone is using it. Don’t do it
Drop coverage is not defense - awful coaching
5-0 ice the 4 wing make him call a ball screen from the corner stop him middle if he doesn't use the screen 🔐 4-1√ 3 on the strong side & 2 weak side it's the 4 high post & the 5 in the corner or flipped the 4 & 5 . Make the high post play outside 9 times out of 10 no screen from the corner big. Send him middle back to the high post force jump shot over 2-4 people. If the big screens from the corner force baseline out of bounds. THIS 3-2 OFFENSE TO EASY TO ICE 😂😂😂
Only option is the strong side lob if the corner big rolls to the rim Derrick Lively
Lively 2-3 over 5-0

Do you recommend or see a lot of high schools use this offense?

when defense helps I like also to continue the curl. it's essentially a 2 vs 1. nice channel by the way, hope you come back to make videos
This footage looks like it's from the 14-15 season when Dave Rose was the coach. Mark Pope was just an assistant. I don't know if this offense was his brainchild or not. The actions Pope ran became much more dynamic as time went on with him as head coach.
penetrate to post up move was my bread and butter move when im going to attack the basket🏆
I'm here because of awful coaching, literally and figuratively
I got into playing basketball very late so my dribbling skills was shit, I can’t crossover anybody or blow past them with a quick first step, but I could do a decent protect dribble, so the “Barkley move” was my default move to the basket. Very effective if you learn good footwork and inside moves.
Awful Coaching fans where y'all at?
Awful coaching anyone?😂
😹

Joe Mazz was like 'what if a put a wing in the dunker spot?'
And Mike Budenholzer before him... used it to change the help and prevent teams from "walling up" Giannis.
I’m a PG and what I would do when facing an ice coverage is that I would do a pocket pass to my big and makes him play 4 on 3 like a short roll. If my big is not a good decision maker just tell him to change the screen side and do a snake to FT line and then do whatever options I have afterwards.
Hi thanks so much for the vids are the BS screens really a back screen or would you say it’s a down screen?
Pin down the BS in this case is "Ball Screen"
@@joshclemens8251 thanks I didn’t think the obvious ahah! As I I thought the BS represented back screen but they were down screens hence the confusion
AYYYYYY YOOOOOOOO
can u make a video for the plays horns gold?
God loves you all
What can the defense do to counter this?
2v2 BS coverages like drop, ice, or switch. A good tag will also be above the roller so you don’t get stuck but can still keep the ball out.
Drop coverage is trash and only lazy trash coaches and teams run it.
Isn’t point over also called zoom action

Nice content!
It's one reason why basketball is very popular. In fact, the sport is more popular in the world than American football.
Are you a bot?
Wildcats here watching
Why on earth high school and colleges don’t run this offense is beyond me. Relatively easy to execute and difficult to defend. All these bullshit complex offensive schemes are crap compared to this. Similar to Stockton and Malones hybrid pick and role. It works.
Cause high school coaches are “smart”
this is why the Lakers are getting ripped to shreds. Jamal Murray isnt missing these mid range shots.
completely. watching it live made my blood boil, cause jamal aint missing those 2s and lakers kept using drop coverage on him. should have hedged the screen.
was the offense set up as an 5 out ?
Yep, pistols is traditionally run with 5-out spacing to start.
@@hooperuniversity usually for pick up this kind of play especially the chase can be run by two people correct? if so how do i go about telling one of my teammates this set up ?
tell them before the play but it’s better to run it as a 3 man game
also my aau team does this action out of a 4 out 1 in set with the big on strong side high post
@@XanderHedin and usually its best to set this on the weak side , right?
Are pistol "chase" and a "get" action the same thing?
Chase uses get action as the main action. However, if the guard receiving the handoff can't get downhill, he can look to hit the player who handed the ball off coming off the flare from 5. If the flare isn't open, 5 can set an empty ball screen for the ball handler. Chase = get + flare + empty ball screen.
