Absolutely loved Wendel because of the greatness he exhibited, all heart and soul. Certainly I loved Mats Sundin as a Leaf too but at the time he was traded to the Leafs for Wendel I was in disbelief. Looking back at the way he played the game I’m literally amazed that he played as long as he did. He put his body through things that would have devastated a ‘normal’ human being. I’m disappointed for him because he never got to experience the ultimate GOAL in hockey, the Stanley Cup. Wendel deserves every accolade that has been bestowed upon him, he is and was the ultimate team player during his era. I truly hope that he doesn’t carry pain into his retirement because of the punishment he put his body through during his playing days…
