🎆 ~ 💖 🐕 🤣🤣🤣 My ¾-Norwegian mother who also had lesser-fractions of Swiss, French, & English in her bloodline only taught me one thing in Norwegian, which i learned indirectly from her cuz it's what she always yelled at our dog, Rex, a Norwegian Elkhound, when she was mad at him, (i can only give you my phonetic interpretation): "Gaalegdaknowfahloosafahmott!" ... which, she said, means: "Go lay down & let the fleas bite!" 🤣🤣🤣 Naturally, i took to saying that, too, cuz i luvvved the way it luxuriously rolled off of my tongue lol. Yes - happily born & raised in a tourist town in the land of more than 11,000 lakes country (NOT 10,000 - I'd like to know WHO started & perpetuated that "Land of 10,000 Lakes" marketing LIE) of Minnesota. ~ 🎆
🎆 ~ Yah - uffda: My elementary school forced me to go to a special "speech" class for several weeks to practice learning to say *"three"* instead of "tree" (like my Norwegian/Swedish dad naturally said & I'd learned from him), & "this" instead of "dis", & "that" instead of "dat" ... i was Daddy's girl & naturally adopted his manner of Scandinavian speech. It was difficult to learn the "proper" way to speak; plus, i was always embarrassed when that teacher called me out of my regular class for a half-hour of speech practice. Wonder if they still do that? I also had a lisp (NOT my dad's way of speaking) & couldn't enunciate my "s's" - i recall playing a board game called, "So Sorry" - that was a fun way to practice pronunciation, though. E-VON though i rebelled, at first, it's cuz i WANTED to be like my dad, & i resented that teacher ... but then i finally relented cuz i figured-out they'd keep me in that special class 'til i proved i was "cured" lol. 💖 Sprinkling ✝️ Blessings ~ 🎆
Yup I'm from Texas my wife is from up here in southern Canada (Minnesota) which is where we live. She swore she didn't have an accent and used to make fun of my accent until the first time I took her to Texas and just random people would comment on her accent and even zeroed in either Wisconsin or Minnesota which I would get the side eye when I said same shit different smell.
As a person from Minnesota, that explanation is spot on. Thats what happens when you have snow from October to May and its 100 degrees with mosquitos everywhere during the summer.
@@bagejy2uodof I live in Russia, now there is not as much snow as there was in childhood, when we were children we dug tunnels in the snowdrifts, it was interesting!)
