Majestic looking dog for sure. I'm curious as to what Diesel, the Anatolian Shepherd, is mixed with. No doubt you did a good job training him but I'm thinking it must because of the breed(s) in his mix. I hear it's extremely hard to train an Anatolian Shepherd, or any other independent strong breed, when the training starts in adulthood.

Since a month I adopted a kangal, mistreated and afraid of everything. Given up by professional dog trainers. He has amazed me with his progress. Biting me, and 2 of my other dogs in the first week, he has changed so much, he is protecting us as a flock. We have six dogs now. He is fond of me. Total trust. I am not experienced for this kind of breed, but he teaches me how to help him. Soft voices but strong hand leads him to full recovery. I love him

Attempting to "train " an anatolian or Kangal dog is criminal . it's in their nature to protect what they perceive as their territory . They are merely doing their job as genetically designed . If the care taker of the dog has a problem with this then they are the wrong peop,e to live with this type of dog . if possible that should only be used as a livestock guardian and not a house pet . The trainer SHOULD understand this but apparently in this case they do not . Stop trying to impose human behavior into animals . give the dog to someone that has the proper conditions for the dog .

I have two and we walk them twice a day, use a sniffspot once a week for unleash no other distractions place to themself runs… and we head to my families farm twice a year where they just get to be…but yeah they desperately need some goats and to be working. They’re good pups though and less reactive as they’re maturing. But I’m always watching and prepared to keep a distance or change directions from other dogs. lol.

Very well done. I know what it takes to "tame" the temper a powerful dog. My recipe is love and trust but this may vary according to the breeds and individuals. I never knew an Anatolian Shepherd, I mean his (or her) character. If they are playful it`s easy, if they are more serious, it`s a bit more complicated. With my dog (male Hovawart) I only used positive reinforcement and hardly ever negative. That`s against my convictions. Well, anyway, what you showed me here was quite impressive. :-) Thank you.

Dog is not a full Anatolian but training will only mildly work, when anything he may perceive as a threat appears he will lunge and bark that’s why they are great guard dogs for livestock and territory. Dogs are manly hands on. If you cant stop the dog from his lunge it’s not safe to own. Always needs a strong collar and leash as well.

The dog has one on. She's carrying the controller in her right hand. Some Breeds are Never safe without some type of serious means to distract. I can tell you from experience with Irish Wolf Hounds, if they see something really "interesting" unless properly leashed and/or electronically collared, they'll be gone and possibly hit by a Car or something else bad will happen. We now have a 12 week old Kangal and he's as Hard headed as any Dog i've ever encountered! Going to be interesting?

Running is best, my daughter wears out her highly energetic Fila Brasileiro , by using a Tennis Ball and racket and hit's it until her arm's worn out and it just takes the edge off. So, a job and/or access to stimulating physical activities. Training in skill sets are always an option. Set up stages , obstacles, challenges (Kong toys) etc... . Be creative and try to channel the energies , Kenneling is not a bad thing as long as not used as a punishment or Cell, time out's are appropriate as are rest time for the owner.

@@oscarballard7911 The unfortunate things with the kangal is that dog has little to no interest in 'fetch'. He might do it once or twice, then he'll look at you like your stupid for throwing the ball again, because he put it where it belongs. Some folks I know have GPS collared these dogs with satellite tracking collars. These dogs walk or run 60-100 miles in a day. This makes it very hard for city dwellers to deal with these breeds.
