Thanks! Ive been wanting to get an out of tune piano sound!
Great video and great improvisation, I was wondering if you could do something like Manuel de Falla's ritual fire dance in microtonal
@@leveaudor8577 thank you! that is a really cool piece, but i’ve not learned it and might never (i don’t spend much time on classical music lately). but absolutely, a piece of the sort you’re describing would be possible to compose. not sure if i will do it, but i do appreciate the idea and will let you know if i do. if you want to hear a microtonal cover of Ritual Fire Dance, there are people who upload microtonal covers of famous classical pieces. Francium and YoVariable come to mind
And happy new years!!!!

Am I going thru effects? it sounds like my vocals are doubled.....damn that was fun as fuck lol

Hey, this is awesome! As I understand it, your two scales are two different 19b NEJIs, with the latter shifted upwards by a harmonic. I'm thinking of saving up for a JUNO-DS in part because it can do stuff like this. What JUNO-DS key amount do you have?
Thanks! Not sure what you mean by "19b" specifically, as it's definitely not 19edo, or even a subset, but based on the harmonic series. I'm using two distinct 12 note mappings sampling harmonics 38-76, the second one is (very) roughly a quarter tone higher than first, so individually they're fine as 12edo chromatic NEJIs, and combined they form a 24edo NEJI. The Juno DS isn't bad for a standalone keyboard that has some microtonal capability. I have the 88 key version. I'm considering making a video demoing some of its microtonal functionality.
You're using the prime mode of 19 because 38 is the 2/1 of the 19th harmonic, meaning all the material in 38-76 is relating to the 19th harmonic as the root of the prime mode. The "b" in 19b refers to 19 getting doubled up to 38-I learned this nomenclature from one of Zhea's collaborators; it's something she uses. I would love to see a video on a JUNO-DS's microtonal functionality! I think microtonalists are often too obsessed with isomorphic instruments so it's good to have non-isomorphic content out there. But no rush at all.
@@drosophiliac Ah, ok. 19b also refers to 19tet mapping the fifth to its second best approximation, which would be very strange here, so thanks for clarifying. In that case, yes, your initial conclusion is quite close, though not exact.
Hi
what's up
Lovely
thanks!
Sounds awesome! Which effects are you using?
thanks! i don’t recall specifically, maybe a hint of phaser to sharpen the tone, but definitely had some reverse delay going. i may have used a ring modulator at a slow speed to get that sort of pulsing reverb
sick, dude, glad you got it all in there.

Nice! It's curious that vocals still sounds quite xen to me while the instrumental part seems way more familiar.
@@mgouat ah yeah that is curious. i do think synths tend to carry microtunings more easily since they are novel sounds. but also i wonder how much that has to do with the melody itself
@@gordonwery Not sure, there are certainly some higher edo guitars and I feel that my remark still holds.
@@gordonwery Yeah the melody here seems to be the source of a similar feeling for me too.
