2009 Hyundai Veracruz Transfer Case Fluid Change
This video shows how to drain and fill fluid (gear oil) of Hyundai Veracruz 2009 transfer case. The transfer case is a particularly important part of the power train system. Neglecting it and failing to change the fluid regularly would permanently damage the gears inside the box.
Main tools needed are mentioned in this video as well. Removing the fill plug is the most challenging portion of this work. Everything else is easy. Be patient in removing the fill plug before draining the fluid. You would need a hammer persuasion and patience in case the fill plug is very tight and hard to remove. Impact gun is a necessary tool to remove the fill plug since it simulates a hammer while turning loo...

    Hi. It is very informative video. I m about to go for my transmission fluid change and transfer case fluid change. Drain and filled .as i have a awd warning light illuminated on my dashboard. And stays on while driving. I went to local mechanic he suggested that you car must be low on transmission fluid its better to change. What do you suggest that could be the reason? He told me to buy from the dealer here in canada. But i checked your video you are using oem product. I can find the mobil atf 3309 here at local parts store for 13$ in compare to dealer which is selling for 32$ . What do you suggest? Can i use the mobil atf 3309 for my car or the dealer one? Waiting for your reply thank you

      @OMRey-nj3wt 7 месяцев назад

      3309 is recommended by the manufacturer. So I will use whatever brand it is. Last year I changed again my transmission fluid and was looking for Mobil ATF (that has 3309 mark) but can't find one so I used Valvoline instead, it has ATF T-IV mark in it which is also recommended by the manufacturer. I bought the gallon size because it has better price and will do just fine. I don't use the dealer oil, it's too expensive.

    • @OMRey-nj3wt
      @OMRey-nj3wt 11 месяцев назад

      It's still good since I replaced it. This is the second time I fixed the CV boot. the first time I replaced it lasted 5 years. The shop I brought my car for tire repair, tore the original boot thinking I will bring the car back for repair. never went back to that shop. There is no Veracruz CV boot I could buy so I ordered Santa Fe boot which is slightly smaller and shorter but still work. This probably a reason why it lasted only 5 years because it's not the actual fit. if you can replace it yourself not to worry. do it at your own convenience.

    How did you know it was the assembly rather than the motor? I'm considering replacing, but it's so expensive. If I 'help' the arm move it will move. I'm guessing I have a bad motor, but I'm curious how you knew you just had to take it apart, sand it down and relubricate.

    • @OMRey-nj3wt
      @OMRey-nj3wt 2 года назад

      sorry for the late reply. here is my suggestion. remove the wiper assembly from the engine compartment. disconnect the linkage from the motor shaft. then reconnect the power to the motor (as shown in this video). turn ON the wiper switch (turn On the ignition switch). Check if the motor is turning and without noise. if the motor is turning, you can try holding motor shaft (where linkage is connected) with your finger to prevent it from turning (do this carefully not to injure your finger). if you can't stop it (motor shaft) from turning, it means it has enough torque and the motor is good. check the drive linkage and the wiper drive post it is stuck or binding. if while holding, the motor still turns but you hear some noise, it could be the gears inside are broken and the gears does not engage well. If while holding the motor shaft, the motor stopped, it could mean the motor is bad and it does not have enough torque and would not be able to drive any load especially the wiper blade link assembly.

      @OMRey-nj3wt 3 года назад

      Hi my knowledge in transmission is limited and most especially on tranny oil leaks. What I know with my other cars (not the Veracruz) transmission oil leaks can be caused by a number of reasons, such as broken seals, gaskets, etc. I did replaced the transmission fluid pan gasket in my Buick Century and the leak was gone. As for Veracruz, if there really is a leak and is coming from the transmission, I will not try to do the fixing because I don't have the needed resources to repair it. You need to see where the leak is coming from. If the transmission is really leaking fluid you may have to bring it to a reliable shop for repair or have it replaced with a rebuilt unit. As for the leak in the back of the car, I suppose you mean the rear differential. Check which part of the differential the leak is coming from. If it is in the drain bolt or assembly cover then the gasket is worn or damaged and has to be replaced. when adding differential fluid, there is a fill hole in there. when you add the oil/fluid, you know it's full when the fluid comes out of the fill hole.

    • @milfhealthclub

      There is a recall on the Veracruz for gasket leaks and a Hyundai dealer will fix it for free if your vehicle is affected. The leak ruined my alternator and Hyundai fixed it for free. Google and check your VIN number for recalls.

    • @OMRey-nj3wt
      @OMRey-nj3wt 3 года назад

      Hi Mark, I suppose you run your Veracruz already after replacing the radiator. If you did you can only add (top up) the transmission fluid through the transmission fill hole (port) by removing the fill plug as shown in this video. If you have not run the vehicle yet after replacing the radiator, (I have not replaced my Veracruz radiator yet but if I did and I don't have the Torx T-55 tool), I would top up or fill the transmission cooler thru the upper port connection (disconnecting transmission discharge hose) and let gravity action do its role to complete filling. I would also remove the hose on the lower port (transmission return hose) to ensure whatever air inside the cooler is pushed out while filling. When the fluid comes out of the lower port, it could mean the cooler is already full and you can re-connect the transmission return and discharge hoses in cooler ports. Thanks for leaving a comment.

      Thanks for dropping a note Peter. Veracruz is a great vehicle. It's a plus to maintain things yourself. There's self satisfaction and you can do it in your own time. It's hard to trust shops. one time I brought it for a tire repair. the place was also doing lots of repair work including power train but I did not see much customers. few days later when I did maintenance for my front brake I noticed the CV boot in the driver side was torn and the tear seemed to have been caused by a sharp blade. The other shaft boot is still excellent as expected. Normal boot damage is usually crack but not this one I'm talking about. I ended up replacing the CV shaft (axle) myself. was in a rush to complete the repair/replacement of the CV shaft and did not have a camera that time to record my work.
