Mindfulness practices for kids | Skookum Kids Foster Care
Просмотров 42Год назад
One of the biggest signs of trauma in children is dissociation. Using "mindfulness" is how we rebuild disconnects between mind and body. When we go through something really hard or scary, we protect ourselves by going somewhere else in our minds. Being in-tune with our bodies helps us know how we’re feeling, helps us notice when we’re hungry or tired or need to move.

    There are SO, many parents that I know who want to raise their children, BUT because they are taken the state does not want to give them back. There should be a way, besides high court fees -going to the Supreme Court to get their children back.

    I recently met the most precious little one year old while dropping off some of my own kids' stuff at a baby home After my 2 hour visit i was completely in love with this little boy. I have a 4 year old and an 18 month old little boy at home. Each day i want to message the care giver and ask how he is doing but it doesnt seem appropriate? I want to apply to foster him, but not sure if i'd be willing to foster a different child. Does that mean i should rather not apply to foster him?

    Why you so easy talking about foster care kids is in there who came from devoted Christian mother's which loves them has been moved away maybe true Prejudice or just plain jealousy of her being such as the folder cleaned this respectable mum social Services are immoral jealous people who wants to know everybody's business that don't have a life of their own so that targets only child and they see see I hate them my beautiful kids has been emotionally sexually abused by the foster care and elected by the local authorities and I am fighting everyday of my life to get my kids back all because I left her father in the home who really loved him which was my friend whatsoever as I am devoted Christian mother he would not put my children Annie danger of emotional abuse I have done the stand and the knowledge to know that emotional abuse have an impact on children therefore I would not put my beautiful children that I cherish with all my heart through that and I will get them back don't make light of what you're talking about it is hard for kids to be pulling poems that people don't love them like yourself pointing your finger to tell you know it all you love your own child your own blood you just get paid for looking after a child who is frightened and removed from their parents don't you speak like that you horrible man

    I understand what it's like to run a small business. You project and predict as well as you can, but when profit margins are so small, you hover close to zero all the time. One unexpected hiccup (like a drop in sales) can quickly torpedo a business. I wish it wasn't so. Thank you for all the wonderful play times we had. My children will cry when I tell them.

    • @SkookumKids
      @SkookumKids 4 года назад

      A lot of factors contribute to the timing of both the decision and the communication of it. The decision was really only made a week ago, and we wanted to tell the staff in person. Because of the holiday, yesterday was the first time we could pull together a large number of the staff in once place to tell them directly. We announced to the public immediately after. So we communicated as quickly as we were able to.

    I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you get a lot of support during this unfortunate closure. Obviously you cannot do all the work you do to help kids without families as well as run this business at a loss. Hopefully someone can step up and find a way to make it profitable and still function as the place for kids to play.

    I grew up in state care (Washington). some families really are in it just for the money. I lived in homes where there were 6 kids or more... but lets say 6 for this example. 700 a mth times 6 kids is 4200 a mth and over 50,000 a year. I never got new cloths or allowances. the one time I remember getting a new dress I was in 8th grade and it was for the talent show. in 7 years, 1 dress. my foster parents would go on cruises, and vacations and leave me in short term homes to baby sit me. trust me, some parents are in it for the money. not all, but some.

    The only experts are the parents who lived with kids who had it. You can read a dam book all day, but your never going to be completely prepared. Things you don't expect always happen. Probably why the parents lost the children because you assume these things are abuse.

    I’m from Oregon, and we have relatively new legislation requiring a permanency plan by 12-15 months in care. I wonder if that is helping our length of stay. Also wonder why we have so many more kids in care per 1,000 than Washington...

    Sounds interesting and doable however the vetting process for some could take longer then the 45 days. Do those families awaiting to be vetted still lose out on their deposit if it takes longer to be vetted due to no fault of their own?

Not only do I hope they go out of business, I hope everyone employed there never works again, even the dishwasher. They all deserve to be standing around in front of The Drop In Center.
