Our first attempt at live streaming so we had to edit the very beginning of the demo to avoid showing some technical difficulties.

Great job John.
Thank you Karen for this demonstration! So many things that I had forgotten already. You are so talented. Miss you friend! ❤
Does anyone know if he stretches his paper first? Might make a difference in how the tape comes off.
Just started watching, and I need to back up and start taking notes! Super informative!
Quel bon professeur vous êtes !!!! Merci !!!
Really beautiful work. Love it
Looks like a Frank Webb painting.
This I torture to listen to. Very poorly produced. Had to stop watching.
This is an excellent video!
Looks very muddy.
I love abstract paintings in general but his abstract work doesn't feel fully developed in my opinion. I think he is massively talented and his work is beautiful but the new style which looks to me to be in an experimental phase doesn't feel resolved and the colours don't excite me like in some of his earlier representational watercolour work. Maybe get rid of the acrylic and switch to oil to achieve better movement of the paint and colours? Painting Light & Shade in Watercolour is a very useful book for watercolour artist.
That guys so cool and awesome
He has always been hilarious
What you say Brianne about colours in shadows makes so much sense. Thanks for the demo. Jo in France 🇫🇷
Great brief video, but the sound is cut off!
I've learned more in this one video ... than the MANY others I've watched ... combined. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this. Vanishing point and eye-level ... two crucially important skills! Thanks!
She’s the best!!!❤
Who did the paintings behind you? The bottom row.
I think the paintings shown in the introduction are all done by Art Weeks, a Minnsota watercolor artist.
Watching from The Netherlands. Brienne is a great teacher, explaining so much, sharing her thoughts and the concepts. Thanks NorthStar Watermedia for having Brienne. I will look for her channels!
It's always fascinating to see the process of how someone creates a painting, step by step. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous piece.
Very Inspirational. Beautiful color and technique. Thanks for the lesson.
Grande Castagnet!
Wish they would allow him to explain his painting process rather than ask ittelevant questions. When the guy asks “what size shoes do you wear?” I think he was pointing out to his group how irrelevant their questions were. Let the artist explain his artistic process. Don’t ask irrelevant questions.
It would be interesting to know what his thinking is as he applies paint,NOT what watercolor societies he belongs to or how he likes his website…he’s there demonstrating his expertise as a painter and they ask inane questions that distract him and do not allow him to explain his thought process thoroughly.
Just catching up with this. I see it's 3 years old. but just have to comment ...he seems a bit arrogant to me...not what I would expect at a demo for a group
I bought this and xhausted my lungs........nada. I may try, again, but I kept watching your video here but not a thing happened. 🥲
How excellent was that! I can hardly wait to see what you will be doing at Watercolor Live in January 2024
Fabulous demo. I love negative painting. Thank you @David Smith
An amazing demo, full of rich lessons. Thanks for sharing and thanks to Mr. Salminen for such a generous teaching session.
I took several Skip workshops and even have one of his abstract paintings which he let me pay for on an installment of $40.00 a month. He is an inspirational artist and teacher who pulls no punches when critiquing your work. It’s one of the best workshop I ever took and learn a whole lot about my style. mraz
nice tnx
Feel so privileged to have an opportunity to be able to watch this incredible and beautiful woman, her caring hands, in the act of creation.
Genius that will make you free.
For me it is revealing and inspiring the way similar to how Mary Gilkerson was (and still is) with oils. Thank you very much!
I love having this tutorial in multiple parts. I wish we could see the reference as u paint.
Just fantastic to find someone who experiments and get something out the hotpress paper, my favorite actually
Wow what an excellent teacher. It is super hard to teach and paint at the same time, she does it effortlessly. 💕💕❗️
Buying light and shade in watercolour was the best investment i ever made, suddenly the bulb switched on😊..thankyou mr Lawrence for your eye opening teachings and superb art❤
I’m reading that book now and watching Andy Evansen videos. The shape concept makes my brain hurt but I’m determined to figure it out.
Wow, thanks, John. I learned so many new tricks from this live demo.
Lots of pearls, lifetime of teaching in these Nuggets
So helpful.
Ah, memories!! The nostalgia of a Covid cough hacking away still sends a chill through my social bones. So glad you can't catch it from a sound.
totaly wauw … learned sooo much! thank you!
I love to see other people pallette
Love the look! Having trouble hearing, though. I'd love to try this... What type of paper and paint are you using?

Learned so much
❤😊
What an ugly piece of crap that is. I've heard that he he used to be a good painter before he became self indulgent. I like realistic art and geniuses like Picasso. This is just...schleck.
