The problem with plasticville kits, are they are extremely toy like in appearance. They were produced when the HO train hobby was just becoming popular, which is why they are snap together kits. With many details over scale, and simplified. As evident by the station in the kit. Which brings up a good question, this is a freight train, why did they throw a passenger station in the kit? They make a Plasticville freight station kit, wouldn't that had made more sense. Also, where it comes to detailing. The tank car is extremely rough in its accurate details. To the point it looks as toy like as the station. There are no grab irons or railing. I don't see a break wheel anywhere on it. And it's way too modern looking for a steam engine kit. As for the caboose, it's just as bad in the toy like department. The top should have an overhang roof which it does not. Only the ends of the caboose has them. There are no window frames in the window openings, marker lights on the rear sides, and does it even have a break wheel? And on both these cars the bare plastic is so shiny it looks plastic, and toy like. The figures give you one basic set of poses, that are then copied over and over on all the sprues. So as yes they give a large amount of figures, they are the same ones over and over. Why they mold them in pink I have no clue, as you still have to paint flesh color on them if you paint them. And that big blob of plastic they stand on has to be cut off with model clipper's if you want them to actually look like real people. Why they started molding the signs in yellow I have No clue? These use to be molded in white, with stop signs painted red with white letters like the real one's. And like the plasticville buildings many signs were over sized and best left off your layout. As for the cross bridge. Take your time and try to match the drawings to the parts. Ignore the snap together feature, and glue it one part at a time, allowing each part to dry before adding the next part and you should get it together. Again this is a Plasticville kit so it isn't surprising it doesn't want to snap together easily. It's an old kit. Back in the days when starter kits were extremely popular, they made more effort of producing a really nice set. More track came with the sets, the cars were painted proper colors and nicely detailed.and the rolling stock was time period correct to the engines that were in the set. Old time steam engines came with old time rolling stock. That way they fit the era the set was intended to be. If the set was a diesel engine it came with rolling stock you would see a diesel engine pulling. And the trains were well detailed and didn't look toy like. Bachmann is well known for still doing starter sets, unfortunately the quality of these sets are not what they once were. And it seems cheaply made, and thrown together has become the norm for them. As a beginning starter set to get into the hobby of model railroading they are alright, but you are going to want to invest in better buildings that are more realistic, rolling stock that is more detailed and time accurate, more to scale detailing on figures, and scenery, signs, telephone poles, fences, trees, shrubs, vehicles etc. not that you can't improve on some of the one's provided in these kits. As you can. But some of it your going to want to replace as your budget, time, and interest allows you. Also, try to run your train up on a table, instead of the floor. The engine will gather dust, dirt hair, your eyes are not seeing and pull them into the gear box and eventually cause your engine problems in a short period of time.

I had this loco only lasted a couple weeks the cheap nylon gears broke, couldn't get parts.😂

Nice review of the EZ app loco. What happens to it if the app is shut down? ....also who is the guy in the green suit and hat with a moustache by the red barn? I think its a Thomas tank character but he don't show up anywhere. I would like one for my layout. Thanks

Kinda wish that Bachmann still makes the central pacific coach and Union Pacific combine which is only in the transcontinental railroad train set which is discontinued

I'm glad they upgraded their ancient "American 4-4-0" locos, from a motorized static decoration to a usable loco, but considering that some parts of the model is still look like the (what 50+ years?) old tooling (from Mantula i think), the price they ask for it is outrageous!

Reminds me of those "larger (contains something bigger than a 0-4-0 and has more than 2 wagons) train-set" locos we had here in the EU.

Nice review. If Bachmann discontinued the EZ app it was probably to promote the DCC stuff. Imo it's ok, but I don't buy DCC - just regular DC stuff. Another thing - does this engine only run on the app or can it run regular too?
