Karl's Scale Model Showcase
Канада
Добавлен 22 дек 2014
I'm a mobile crane operator and truck driver from Alberta, Canada. I've been building scale model semi-trucks and muscle cars since I was 7 years old and I love it. I also build the real thing when it comes to muscle cars.
I've worked hard at my trade and I am fortunate to have built my childhood dream cars... a 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne and a 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
Thanks to everyone who tunes in to take a look and I appreciate all of the comments, subscribers and praise!

Very nice build using a lot of the Revell 359, smart move! The tractor looks way better because of that. Great work on that trailer train! Quite an eye catching model you have there.
Thank you so much for the compliments and for tuning in!
Will some of be able to be made smaller? such as 1/72, HO, 1/32, 1/48? I know detail becomes lesser the smaller you go.
Hey, thanks for asking a question. At this time, the smallest scale we will be producing parts for will be 1/25 Thanks for tuning in also!
@@karlturon427 Figured I should ask. Could be an idea for the future. Smaller scales are not well represented for truck wheels.
Nice shout out for Tim. Great Video!!! Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much! Tim is a rockstar!
Nice looking wheels. How about doing the old tube type 5 hole aluminum wheels to fit 10.00-20 tires?
We are working on these particular wheels right now. I'll let you know when they are available... thanks for tuning in!!
Wheels look great Karl
Thanks Tim!
Finally no more screwing around with this wheel, that tire etc. Is there any though to 1/16 22.5" wheels and tires?
Exactly, we strive for excellence and accuracy! As far as the 1/16 scale wheels and tires go, not only are we developing 22.5" wheels and tires for the large scale trucks we are also working on 20" wheels and 10.00 20" tires! It's gonna take some time but it's coming. Thank you for tuning in to my channel!!!
@@karlturon427 great, I have four 1/16 trucks and one trailer that I want to put the normal sizes on. One might stay 24s, but want grip tires for the drives. I don't need them yesterday so when you get them done it'll be nice be able to pick wheel sets.
@@karlturon427 I just made an account on the site.
Very very cool sir awesome stuff is the shipping to Michigan from your location very expensive just asking
Thank you! We think a lot of semi-truck builders are going to really dig what we are doing once the word spreads further. We are certainly thrilled with the amount of traffic we've seen in just 6 weeks! I'm gonna say that shipping to Michigan is quite reasonable and would depend on the size of your order. Our website should have all the information on our global shipping option but if something is missing please let me know. Thanks for tuning in!!!
Thank you sir I will go check out the website
Karl, More modeling future coming reality! Thank you Man!👍👍👍
Thank you buddy! I appreciate all your support and for tuning in!
I love the optional hub selection. The separately detailed lugs are awesome 😊, thanks Karl and your brother! CHEERS, Earl
Thanks you Earl, for that and all your kind words! We are really happy about it! I'm gonna have a K-100 update soon!
These look fantastic Karl!
Thank you man! Thanks for watching!
You really did a nice job on this. My favorite colors and paint scheme for a K100.
Thank you very much!
Nice hobby workshop, just found your you tube channel. Nice Collection of truck builds. Also a truck builder myself
That's fantastic Gary... thanks for tuning in!
Great looking truck parts Karl 🤜🤛
Thanks Tim!
Totally stoked 1/16 is getting attention. I have been working with a 3d guy to make classic 22" Alcoas with no gizmology - stock all the way. Maybe you guys will beat me to it. I will get stock hubs no caps. Drive hubs done in clear would allow the center grease window.
Hey that’s awesome! We are going to supply all our parts in 1/16, 1/24 and 1/25. We are developing correct wheels in 20”, 22.5” and the 24.5” you see here. Monogram only ever offered the 24.5” Michelin tires and that’s the limiting factor. We plan to change that by developing the correct tires in the sizes mentioned above. Kool idea for hubs in clear to show the grease window. Those would be good for steering and trailer hubs. Thanks for watching! Stay tuned!
@@karlturon427 All good things - simply put, been a fan of Sonny since 1974 and that 1/16 flat top kit begs for backdating. I know torsion susp. and a 903 is pushing it though! Will be placing order for current items. Lastly, hope the 1/25 Ford L grille will be possible...
@@goratgo1970 Thank you once again sir. I've seen every episode of "Movin' On" at least 3 times and that Pruitt Kenworth makes me smile from ear to ear every time I see it!! We do have plans for developing not only that Cummins V8 you speak of but also a true replica of the mighty 12V Detroit, both engines in 1/16 and 1/24, 1/25 scale. To also note, we are currently working on the Herdrickson spring suspension and the torsion bar suspension will go into development shortly after. The spring suspension as found on the AMT K-123 and W-925 will only be available in 1/16 scale as there are and abundance of them in 1/25 scale already. However, the torsion bar suspension will be produced in both 1/16 and 1/25 as it's a hard one to find in the AMT Kenworth's and of course, the only option available on the 1/16 Monogram Kenworth's is the 8 bag set-up. As far as the 1/25 Louisville grill goes, I have plans to build a Motorways rig based on a 1/25 Louisville so that grill, an accurate one, will be developed and produced some time in the future! Cheers!
Karl I don't build in 1/16 scale. But if I did, I would pass out with those wheels! They are Krazy! My world is 1/24, 1/25 & 1/32 scale! You & your brother are going "Where No Model Truck Builder Has Gone Before"!!! You have held my attention for 1/24 - 1/25 wheels & tires! Sounds Over the Top!!👍👍👍 I almost forgot, with wheel interior detail, diorama truck shop work & bare new wheels, awesome!!!Whoa!!!
Thank you very much! We definitely have you covered on 1/24, 1/25 scale model truck parts. I appreciate your kind words! Thanks for watching and stay tuned!
Lovely, love the Cat V8!
Thank you!
I know that this is a 3 year old video , and I've seen it back then but I don't remember if left a comment or not.. If I did , cool ..👍 But it doesn't matter because your build is really good. I'm absolutely loving your whole set up.. It's just a Bad Ass Rig.. 👍🇺🇲
Hey, thank you very much!
Nice job starting to look good the only thing if you can put some other color on table top the white on white when your trying to show how the parts go together I drove for 20 years over the road and I still build truck models my self keep up the good work looking good
Hey thanks for the comment and I agree about the white background! I'm always trying to improve my video quality and I appreciate tips from the viewers. It's always great to hear from fellow gearjammers and modelers!
Looking good, I’m big on kit bashing and scratch building. Daniel has great parts, bought my T800 hood from him.
Thanks man! I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished and I appreciate your kind words! Stay tuned for more!
I would fill in the light and lightly drill.A small hole where you'd like it and then use styling plastic to do an o.Ring for the outside of the light just a suggestion
Thanks for the suggestion and for tuning in!
I'm watching your video right now and I think what I would try with your cab.Support would cut the hoop out.Glue it in its normal position and run the hoop behind the engine.Just a thought
Thanks for the suggestion! I have an idea from looking at the back of some actual daycabs. Thanks for tuning in also!
Why is part of the frame painted and the rest not
So I pre-painted some of the parts before assembly and then I will paint the rest of it. That way I'm guaranteed coverage on everything.
You'll find out weathering is actually pretty fun. I was gun shy at first as well, but it really changes a whole build for the better. Almost can't go wrong really doing it. You'll love your airbrush once as well so much control over it compared to spray cans. Looking forward to seeing this rocky mountain double progress
Thanks for the inspiration, I appreciate it and I'm looking forward to getting my airbrush going!
Well you could me on this cuz I'm 21 years old I've been building model trucks ever since I was in my dad got me into him and it's fun for me I like doing it I'm actually currently building a semi truck right now it's the Alaskan hauler I'm doing it up as a tribute truck to ice road truckers and Carlisle actually have the correct blue the correct White I can't remember if the frames are black on the truck but I'm doing it black and I just need to get either someone to make the details or I'm going to find a way that I can get them printed out on a piece of paper and I'm just going to stick them on to Matt's the truck and then the thing that's going on the back of the truck is a little boy with the d9 dozer
That's fantastic! This is such a great hobby and I'm glad to hear that you are engaged in it and enjoying your creative side. Thanks for watching!
About building kits.. You hit hit right on the head!!. When I finished the Smokey and the Bandit Build for Twinstick Garage, I felt accomplished and elated. It was my 5th truck and trailer I had built and the first time building a kit in over 15 years. Even my wife was impressed and I don't get that kind of love from her on that subject. After I posted the build, I got such an awesome response from the modeling community including yourself and Throttle Power. It really vindicated my experience on building and leave me to do more! Cheers Karl 🍻 Earl
You built a great model for Mark, that is quite the gift you gave him! I am a Heavy Duty Mechanic along with my 32 years of driving experience. That being said, its much easier in my opinion to repair and/or restore real semi trucks versus building a model. It takes much more patience and skill to create a nice looking model from a box of plastic parts. The only thing about real trucks is it's much more expensive to put one back together lol. Anyways, I always appreciate your feedback!
Karl, just with the cab and engine in place, you can see the whole picture! Love those drive tires!! The seams on the trailers are unnoticeable but those marker lights got to go!! I work in Quality control for a Window manufacturer and things like that catch my eye everyday!! I stopped in on my brother and he so kindly let me pillage his truck parts and old kits he had. He had the old AMT Rubber Duck and let me steel the rear 6 spoke wheels for my Dad's Freightliner. That was a key piece to making the truck look right. Along with a bunch of other items. I still need to find a good priced tanker trailer. Great stuff Karl! Cheers! 🍻 Earl
I absolutely agree about the marker lights! Q/C finds it's way into everything I do, from my real restoration projects, home renos, work and of course building models! Glad to here you got the correct wheels for your project! Thanks again for your feedback and tuning in! Cheers man!
Great work so far Karl!
Thanks Robert!
Hey Karl, I'm interested in those gray shelves on your wall, what kind of shelves are those? How much weight can they hold? Can you get them in different lengths?
Hey Vince, sorry for the late reply... those shelves are from Home Depot and they are called "floating shelves". They slide into a rack with two pipes that you attach to the wall. I believe they come in 24", 36" and 48" lengths. Thanks for tuning in!!!
How do you tour this museum. My dad is a career trucker worked for rebel at one point . He would to chk that place out .
Look up the Leduc West Antique Society online and they have all the scheduled events listed. During those events, the All Canadian Moving Systems Trucking History Museum is open to the public! It's an amazing place to visit and the models in there are just outstanding! The facility is located just north off Highway 39 about 3 minutes west of Leduc, Alberta. Thanks for tuning in!

The headache racks look Great thank you 🐎Mr. ED says Just Have Fun Modeling
Thanks and I totally agree with Mr. Ed lol!!
Very cool Karl! 😎👍

All the items look super. Every hobbybench trucker knows there's nuthin' like a Great rack! Hope there will be time to look into the Ford Louisville grille correction in the future 🤞 I sure understand with my own hobby distractions in my garage! Gonna have me some ordering to do...
Love pretty much all racks, lol...Thanks as always and yes I'm definitely going to look into that grill situation!
Hey Karl, these 3D parts are awesome! Good to see some tid-bits of the K100 builds, need to see more!! BTW , I picked up the White Freightliner COE for my build of my Dad's truck. I still have to pick up the tanker. My dad's truck had a PTO pump mounted on the deck and I don't have a clue what it looked like. I got to go to Safety-Clean and look at their trucks, unless you have a good idea and mabey I could have you guys print me a pump!!?? . I'll use both sections of the bunks to extend it to the bunk and a 1/2. It cool that Throttle Power gets you first delivery. I'm subbed to his channel too! Cheers Karl! Earl
Hey Earl!! Thanks so much for all your comment and kind words... it's much appreciated. I did get your message as well and I will respond to all of it soon... I've just been slammed (as always) but I do read everything I get! Cheers man :)
Should be a neat build Earl, be sure to masking tape over those cab rivets to protect them when you eliminate the seam if you're not replacing them. If you use super glue and a toothpick to fill, it won't reappear over time.
@@karlturon427 Hey No worries, we all are busy this time of year!! Earl
@@goratgo1970 Thanks for the tip! I've seen a couple vids that show the finished product but not one in progress. I do however like the idea of just sanding it down and reapplying the rivets. It is my absolute pleasure and I will continue to bring more of these beautiful models to my viewers! Thank you very much sir!
Nice work, Probably everyone I know has built at least one of those, the wheels and tires really help the look, Can you tell me the source for the front wheels and tires?
Thank you! The rear tires are from an AMT parts pack, i think 8 slicks came in the pack and they are pad printed with M/H Racemaster. The front wheels are from a Revell 1969 Camaro, lots of these tire came in the Revell kits. The Cragar wheels are from another Revell kit but i don't remember which one. I want to say the Sox & Martin 1967 GTX Pro Stock car. Thanks for watching!
Super impressive Karl, thank you for showing this great museum!!
It is absolutely my please! Lot of footage to go in that place! Thanks for tuning in!
This is an incredable place and so cool that you have some of yours there too Karl. I too would like to come out there one day. It would be awesome to meet you and Mark from Twinstick Garage. He is just an hour north of the museum. I would wonder if the museum would like the Snowman truck and trailer I gifted to Mark. But I bet if you did it , it would go there. On that note, I didn’t see Snowman's truck and trailer from Smokey and the Bandit. Do they host movie trucks or are they just people's custom builds? Thanks for the vid Karl, we hope to see more of the museum. I'm sure we all are waiting for another build episode of you KW Hauler along with more offerings of the 3D printed stuff you and your brother are doing! CHEERS 🍻 Karl! Corey "Earl" Widmeyer
Good morning Earl! It's always a pleasure to read your comments and communicate with you! The model truck museum welcomes all model builders to display their truck models (semi-trucks only please) and as of my last inventory we do not have a "Bandit" KW with a "Stagecoach" trailer. I'm sure Gord Comrie, the owner and curator of the magnificent place would welcome your rig. The best advice I have is to buy a membership for $25.00 annually to the Leduc West Antique Society and you will get notified of all the events that happen there. When an event takes place, such as the Lesco Truck Show in September, the model truck museum is open during this and any other event. Then you could ask Gord to showcase your beautiful rig along with the others. Thanks as always for tuning in!!! Another K-100 / Rocky Mountain Double update is coming soon!
@@karlturon427 Thanks Karl for the info, I'll look into contacting Gord. Membership is a good price too. It would be an honour to be accepted to show my truck with the caliber of builders he has there. I'd have to talk to Mark too so he could bring it there. When Mark took his Snowman and Stagecoach to last Septembers Lesco Truck Show, he won "best in Show" , how awesome is that!! Out of all those trucks that were there, they voted him best in show. What a great community of Truckers they are. Cheers Earl
I would love to be able to take a road trip up to see this place in person! I doubt it will ever happen, as I would have to drive from Houston across the entirety of the U.S. just to get there, and my Chevy get HORRIBLE gas milage. LOL
For sure, That's definitely a trek from the Great State of Texas!!! Who knows, you may end up out this way for whatever reason and get a chance to see it.
