I typically choose IHG hotels because I've found that many Marriotts vary in quality in the areas you mentioned, and this location was no exception. I would advise against this Marriott for now or suggest waiting for renovations, and I've had similar experiences with the Lux properties on the island (I've visited several but only filmed one). I’m also considering the newly opened Riu next door; it appears to offer better value for your money.

The stay was enjoyable. I suggest considering it during the shoulder seasons, as both the occupancy and prices tend to be more affordable, and the weather is more bearable.
