I have a question: when aiming mode is turned on, does the tower receive any additional effects or can I just use the tower to shoot?
Good question, when you shoot am pretty sure it can through enemies but that only when you controling it, for me I rather look up guide how to use Gatling gun.

tip for mortar and certain splash towers in general (like electro): set 2 or 3 of them on random instead of first, random is more likely to target crowds so they hit almost 2x as many enemies on average wouldn't recommend this if it's your only dps though
