20/20 Zigzag maneuver for fully appended DTMB5415M. This was performed by OpenFOAM with overset grid technique. This ship model has twin propellers and twin rudders, as well as other appendages such as bilge keels, stabilized fins, struts, shafts, etc. All moving appendages are discretized by overset grids. - My Linkedin Profile: www.linkedin.com/pub/zhirong-shen/69/b2a/2a - My Researchgate Pro...

    Hi Zhirong! It is still an impressive work after 8 years! I wonder how all components are moving as one piece when they are not contacted with each other?

    Hello , really Nice simulation . I am a student from Brazil and my conclusion work is about predict the resistance curves of a hull (First I am trying with one model of Series 60 in one velocity), and I want to know If I could talk to you about simulations on OF, It would really help me. Since then, thank you!

    Thanks for your video :) In OpenFOAM, I want to run the solver multiPhase/interFoam/RAS/floatingObject but by default it runs with a cuboid body, I have a cylindrical body in .stl format and I want to use it as a floating object. How can I do this? I have been able to insert the cylindrical mesh in blockMesh by using snappyHexMesh, but how can I use the cylinder as a floating object? Thanks if someone can help me out, I am doing a univerisity project

      Tienes que modificar el fichero constant/dynamicMeshDict. En ese fichero es donde tienes que definir las características del objeto flotante (cuboid, jointBody, masslessBody, rigidBody, sphere). Suerte

    Amazing simulation, how many cells are there? seemingly the rudder is moving along the water surface, is it just visual tricks or it is real moving?

    • @zhirongshen3212
      @zhirongshen3212 9 лет назад

      Thanks, Lee. The cell numbers are depend on the cases. The largest number is about 8 million for DTMB 5415M. The rudders, propellers and ship hulls are actually moving and not visual tricks. This is one of the most important features of overset grid.
