Just downloaded....big Mahalo sending love 😍 and gratitude 🙏💞!
Mahalo for this beautiful video!! I'm trying to learn the words after living in Hawaii for almost 25 years!! God bless! God bless Hawaii and still praying for Maui and all the victims!! Song warms my heart 💞
Maikaʻi! It is never too late to learn ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi!

My heart is so deeply touched by this beautiful mele dedicated to our beloved aliiwhaine Queen Liliu’okalani, just by listening to it had brought so much tears to my eyes and touched my soul the power of the mana within the mele is so strong and yet it speaks to me. With calm gentle words with Aloha 💜.
❤❤❤❤ I do miss Hawaii waimanalo and Aiea
素敵なメロディーcd探してます日本には無いのです😂
Aloha Ke Akua 🫵😊
God is love.
My youngest daughter born on Maui. We are definitely " foreigner s" living for over 30 years here in Hawaii....BUT my entire family feel the incredible " mana" and respect the Hawaiian aina and mana!! Just left the "9th island" here vacationing in my husband's home state of Washington ( family retired Air Force) my Mom had met my Dad at Hickman Air Force base....I originally came to Big Island of Hawaii with USCG ... I have always felt a connection with Hawaii and 30 years later and 3 children born in Hawaii we have all felt the incredible spiritual connection to Hawaii and the culture and only wanting to protect and respect Hawaii!! My youngest daughter im so proud to say is studying at Manoa and wants to protect native species like the sea bird ( she has done 2 internships on Haleakala... catching wild cats and rats that eat their eggs!!) very strenuous hiking etc. My son works with only native plants and trees...gave me hell for planting the aggressive strawberry guava!! Lol. Just wanted to share how precious i understand living in Hawaii is and always looking to give back and have gratitude to live here. If more people treated the island with respect snd gratitude...i hope and feel less animosity towards " foreigners" i will always be a " haole" but i don't have to act like one.... I feel so important to always give back and respect the people and especially the culture of Hawaii!! God Bless and only respect! Mahalo for sharing the beautiful song and translation if Ku Ha'aheo E Ku'u... My favorite prayer i try to live by.... Ho' oponopono 🙏
Mahalo e Celina Marie. Your comment about aloha ʻāina being felt by kamaʻāina and malihini is right on! I also share your view of loving the ʻāina AND one another. When we treat the land and people with ʻihi (reverence & respect) we are being hōʻihi and pono! Na Ke Akua e hoʻopōmaikaʻi i kau ʻohana.
I love all of you so much. I wish you would love me back 🎈
Aloha wau iā ʻoe e Jenny😘
Awesome choir
Tutu Kane Your choice of Hawaiian music matches my taste. Mahalo Nui Loa.
Mahalo nui loa from Kuikilana!!! 🌈💞🌈
Every year since 7th grade, I do hula dances in the talent show, to show people my culture and passion. My dad is half Hawaiian and I grew up listening to a lot of island music. Not many people here in America know what hula dancing is and why it is important. Doing hula shows people that there is more than just Ballet and hip-pop. It really shows who I am and where I come from. It makes me proud to show people I'm more than just the 3/4 Caucasian they see but the 1/4 Hawaiian they could get to know.
Anela, wow, nowadays, 1/4 Hawaiian is a a lot! Hula and mele are important ways to embrace your Hawaiian culture. I would also encourage you to learn ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, which would increase your appreciation and understanding of hula and mele.
This is so beautiful

Mahalo for the reminder of the great Gabby!
Had the audio tapes and book at home for 10 years, never got around to learning it (life, and well...no cassette tape player!). Homeschooling our kids this year, and got the book out, was going to go searching for a tape player, but felt a nudge to search for the audio on youtube. Found your channel and recordings! And uploaded only a few weeks/months ago? Divine timing! Mahalo!!! Much Aloha from Georgia!
Noʻu ka hauʻoli! I also had the cassette version, unused for many years. During the COVID pandemic I wanted to do something useful with my isolated-at-home time, so I bought the book with the CDs. It was the best book for me to learn Hawaiian easily. My hope now, is to inspire other beginners to learn and speak ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, which is an endangered language AND to purchase this book! (I do not receive any compensation for itʻs sale.) Mahalo!
He Hawaiʻi ʻoe?
My wahine is. From upcountry Mau'i. That is awesome! Been working on Hebrew during the pandemic. Not as far as I'd like to be. Wife's cousin-in-law was Miss Aloha Hula 2011, heard how as part of it she had to write a research project in Hawaiian. Really got me wanting to learn more of both Hawaiian heritage and my own heritage. Did some here and there, but now that my keiki are in that young age their brain soaks up everything, I'm really trying to get their languages into them. Such fun teaching the toddler "This is My Piko"!
@@DrGeorgePBurdell-USN1701 Maikaʻi! Akamai ʻoe! Just yesterday there was a segment on NPR about teaching language to young ones. One of my friends speaks only Japanese to her daughters, who are now totally fluent. Their dad spoke English to them. Consider joining Hui ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi/Hawaiian Language Group on Facebook. It is a private group so only relevant posts are allowed. There are many knowledgeable members who offer advice and also provide good resources for keiki.

Those are some old sounding students.
Yes, those talented high-school students receive years of instruction, especially for the annual Song Contest. Take a look at all the preparation: www.ksbe.edu/songcontest.
Well spotted! Ha ha ha they definitely sound like adults not teenagers.
@@aussieallstar66 Yes, they sound like adults but they really are teenagers, who have practiced for many years. Take a look at the Song Contest performance by last year's seniors: ruclips.net/video/YD9dc-AdjLI/видео.htmlsi=x30NI2QYdGcatRAI&t=4541

Beautiful ❤
BEAUTIFUL!! LOVE hearing the children's voices. I weep for those lost. May our Heavenly Father bring them back safe & sound.
A lovely setting for these beautiful words. Mahalo, Moon. Oakland C
This was sung by volunteers on a recent flight coming back from Maui after recovery efforts in Lahaina following the tragic fire that claimed so many lives. Prayers and aloha for the kanaka maoli and for all families who lost loved ones.
amen

😢😢😢
Just got chills reading your message. I just found this video and crying for Lahaina... I live on Maui and all 3 of my kids Graduated proudly from Maui High. My heart still is so heavy for Lahaina victims. My daughter just painted huge picture of Lahaina from 200 years ago and then before fires!! We all need to learn to protect the The aina and support Hawaiian culture everyday and " live Aloha!" Feel the mana ❤🤙
i lived in lahaina and my moms job burnt down. luckily we’re safe and didnt lose our home but sending love and prayers to everyone that did!! 🙏❤️🩹
Mahalo❤
we also have a samoan version to this song, also patriotic to our country! Lota Nu’u Moni, Ta te fiafia ai. (Our True Land we love)
