    Great explaination. I'm also glad to see a homeowner installing from the roof rather than laddering the entire job. This will cut install to a fraction of the time if you can be comfortable at the edge. Only suggestion I couldn't help but make is to always install under a steel valley flashing. Movement of different metals will cause the enamel paint on the flashing to rub off exposing raw steel. Rust is inevitable.. in an area which sheds more water than anywhere else on the roof.

    wouldn't it be better to use a flapper vent? it seems like that could cause the exhaust to be put under pressure from slowing it down which could also cause it leak inside the shed. I'd be worried about what it would do to the generator over time as well. Did you contact the manufacturer to check if this might cause problems later on? they may have products just for this application. Many generators have the tip of the exhaust set up to attach exhaust extensions to them which I'm guessing is what you have there.

    • @davidmartindaletheycallmemacgu
      @davidmartindaletheycallmemacgu Месяц назад

      The silicone exhaust extension I used is specifically made for the generator exhaust extension. The vent I used has the screen in the vent to detour pest and bugs from entering, a flapper vent doesn’t eliminate intrusion by bugs because it’s only gravity closed. If it has a spring closure it would cause a back pressure on the the generator which would cause early failure. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for your comments

    I have a vaccum sander. When you use it on a big job you have to keep emptying the vaccum. The vaccum sander instructions say the company is not responsible for damage to your vaccum. The instructions also say a contractors vaccum (shop vac) is recommended. I had to keep emptying the shop vac, and kept having to shake the drywall mud off the filter to keep the suction at the maximum. The drywall dust clogs the filter, and you loose suction so you have to keep cleaning the dust off the filter and emptying the canister. The drywall sander does keep the dust created from sanding to a minimum.

    • @davidmartindaletheycallmemacgu
      @davidmartindaletheycallmemacgu Месяц назад

      I agree with what you said. I just think on small jobs it hasn’t been an issue and on bigger jobs I’d rather stop to empty and bang the dust off my filter into my trash can is way less work and mess that have to completely clean the room and adjoining rooms.😊

If you want to be candid about time spent creating a quality Pen and your skill level. Challenge a fellow turner to a contest, with concise rules, and a prize for the winner, Been my experience that every once in awhile I get a pen where the process goes off without a hitch, But a lot of the time something goes awry. How do you replace the oven door gasket? Jenn air down draft. It is old as heck.

    • @davidmartindaletheycallmemacgu
      @davidmartindaletheycallmemacgu 2 месяца назад

      It's actually pretty easy.Some gaskets are on the door and some are on the oven it's self, but the process is pretty much the same. Order the gasketby using the manufacture and model number of your range. You'll need a pair of needle nose pliers. Begin where the gasket is tucked into a hole at the bottom of the door and pull out the gasket, then follow the gasket where there is a T clip that holds the gasket into a hole and pull it out, continue moving along the gasket at each T clip and remove them. after they are all out pull the other end out of the hole it's in. then start at one end and begin pushing the T clips into the holes. The use the needle nose pliers and grab the end of the gasket just past the frayed end and push it into the hole then push any remains slack into the hole and repeat on the other end. The gasket will seem thicker than the old one, but close the door and lock it and leave it over night to help flatten the gasket. that should be it. Hope this helps.

    I took my Camry to the dealership for a regular maintenance inspection and oil change. They pointed out that the 2 license plate bulbs were not working. They wanted $50.80 to replace them which is crazy! I bought 2 bulbs at an auto parts store for $3.50 each. Many thanks David for the "how to video" because it showed me how to access the bulb sockets. Talking of bulbs, I have a Camry and a Prius. Driving at night with the low beams on is becoming difficult. The lights only project out to about 50 feet. I have to use the high beam which, rightfully, annoys other drivers. I think that the poor light projection is because Camrys and Prius' are low to the ground. I've even tried expensive LED bulbs. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

    Anyone who has one of these (I have for 15 years) NEVER put metal or your hand down the chute. I use a 3/4" branch to stir it. If it clogs I stop the machine and clear it. Don't feed it too fast like this, I rake the leaves into a snake in front of the chute and let it draw with air as it pleases, regularly raking more towards it. The chute was the selling point - not having to constantly bend and lift into it. It has a sprung pin for the chute and the original bag is basically a hessian potato sack with a drawstring sewn into the top.
