UPDATE: Since the time of publishing the documentary time, the Harvest House has new leadership. This documentary has served it’s purpose and the documentary does not reflect the current Harvest House in 2023. The founder, Cal Maskery, resigned his position and moved on to starting another ministry called ShekinahGo, a cult-like group which he continues to operate in the same way that they did when he led the Harvest House. We're thankful that Cal Maskery’s former staff were exposed for the predators they are and that Cal was forced out. While publicly he left on good terms, it’s a well known truth that behind the scenes he had no choice but to go, along with his band of predators who deeply harmed those who went to the Harvest House for help. Instead of help, they were manipulated, abused and exploited. Now, without Cal Maskery at the helm, the Harvest House is a place of safety and hope for the broken. It will still have it's issues just as any organization will but the issues raised in the documentary in no way reflect today's Harvest House. Today's Harvest House requires vulnerable persons checks, criminal record checks, etc. In short, everything is done ethically and transparently and no predators have even a slim chance of ever being in positions of authority at the 2023 Harvest House. Thank you all for your amazing support! While the documentary and all of those in it were relentlessly attacked, the final outcome was the removal of the entire group of predators along with their leader, Cal Maskery. You all did a job well done! The vulnerable who go there are now provided safety and hope.

Just this year my girlfriend and a group of students had a fundraiser for the harvest house. She was bragging how they raised the most money something like $12,000. If i wasn't from this town i'd be a little more surprised. This shit is sad. I really wonder if Jimmie or Cal are that gutless, spineless, pathetic and manipulative to scheme all this or if someone else has control of the situation. Either way some accountability would be a start. Thanks for making this

The harvest house has always been there for me for years and and years threw the hard times and the good times definitely was a hard client to deal with in my younger days. In recovery I learned the love of God and made brother and sisters who will always be there for me I feel so blessed God lead me to harvest house 11 years ago. Thank you harvest house for being there for me when no one else would

I want to remain anonymous as i tell you that everything you brought to light about harvest house is accurate. If you knew the $ and expensive donations that never reach the people, your hair would stand on end. I have been praying for cal and rose's repentance on these issues for years. My only reason for this message is to let you know your on the right path. It has always been cal's way to discredit anyone that calls him out on anything (big or small) even as far as telling people (me) that they are NOT Christians. Told one of my family members (a brand new christian) that their name would be taken OUT of the lamb's book of life if they didnt attend church. That person walked away accepting that God would eternally reject him. I was a new christian at the time and didnt know better either. Many people dont know how cal and rose operate so with lack of knowledge they are at risk of coming to the wrong conclusion. God's spoken word has reached many people through Cal. God even spoke through balaam's donkey. So people see the good only and not the hidden expensive items that are being sold. God's word is setting people free. All praise be to God but Cal has to meet our maker one day and my heart breaks for him. I hope he humbles himself before God, even if he does it in privacy. I dont have to know when but i do know God answers my prayers.If i told you specific items that were sold he would be able to guess who told you. If i told you of things given that he gave to his family and close friends, he would be able to know my identity. The most excellent food donated goes directly into his frezzer at home....never to be seen again. Its been like that for years.

HH sounds like a complete gong show. There's so much chaos, and toxicity that could be easily diffused, with a soft tone, and some humanity towards the residents who are staying here. There appears to be a complete void of dignity or respect for anyone at HH. My heart absolutely breaks, for anyone who has been mistreated at HH. I've always been proud to donate my time, to the shelter in my local area, but after seeing the polarizing levels of care we provide, vs what HH provides, I appreciate so much more, of the work we do. Moncton is seriously lacking, in the same level of care 💔 I've often wondered why a predominant tent city has not yet popped up here, in Saint John: clearly we don't need one. Our homeless population is being serviced with dignity and care, and do not feel they have no other options, than to subject themselves, to the elements.

Now let's hope this doesn't fall on def ears, and something changes. I've always heard talk about how terrible the harvest house was... but I never thought it was to this extent.

I am so saddened and disgusted with most of the staff of Harvest House and so proud of those who spoke out. I have watched the complete documentary...I have sadness in my heart but also hope that The Harvest House can come back to what it is meant to be...a place of caring, sharing and loving those who are less fortunate...those who need a non-judgmental ear..those who care .

This is the most heartbreaking documentary on a religious cult I've ever watched :( I hope someone holds them accountable! Thank you for doing this.

It’s so sad to hear this started out as a wonderful organization and then after the death of a few leaders it turned corrupt. To serve rotten food and lock doors when the weather is bad, it’s just sad. Thank you for giving a voice to those who are probably too afraid to speak up

my birthday one year ( 2016 ) my gift from my parents was a ticket to go to the Galla ( that was ment to be for the women’s recovery center that they haven’t started - this was 3 years ago ) with my parents ( who have buissnesses - and they knew that ) , I bought a beautiful dress and a everything. Then Received a call the day off saying my ticket was sold to another person , so I called my mom crying and they said that’s weird because half an hour earlier they had gotten a call to make sure they would be in attendance So because hh knew I wouldn’t be able to bid on items , but knew my parents would ! And the fact that I was a girl in recovery , what they were raising money for !!! So my birthday gift that year was my parents going to the gala and me crying at home alone!

This is how most charities start. All good intentions until someone comes in and starts finding a way to steal, lie and cheat. This makes me so mad. I am so glad that I never donated anything to Harvest House! Shame on you!!! I am so happy this is coming to light!

A ex con running a charitable organization, and it is only being questioned now.. Let’s see, and I know exactly what Im talking about cause I work for a Property Management company. Say building “X” on corner of Smith and White street has 20 rooms. At $400 a room per mth, that is a Gross income of $8000 mth, and to make this much worse, the Welfare cheque is signed over to owner, so he his guaranteed the money, even if the tenant skips, we do not have that Novelty, if someone leaves we are stuck paying for utilities and the mortgage for the Apt building regardless. At $8000 a mth, and this is only an example, how can you have a building condemned and not up to code ? A mortgage on a place like that would be about $1000 mth, then factor in utilities and maintenance, so let’s say $2000-3000 max. No he his left with $5000 mth, maybe more, and they’re driving Beamers and Suburbans. I bet you if they investigate this deep enough, this is guaranteed that he’s doing some kind of money laundering, this is a criminal organization, he had an awakening alright, he figured out how to be a crook and get away with it. He also got one of the biggest crooks in Moncton working for him who used to own a Pawn shop. This is ridiculous. Tks for standing up and not backing down, these greaseballs need to be shut down !!!

I was there in the beginning, met cal, he was recently released from prison. Said the ministry idea started in prison, started a fellowship is what I think they called it. Their first shelter, on lester ave, I was there, one of the residents called in atv news at the deplorable conditions, the house was condemned. At the time I didn t approve of calling in the media, but it was the right thing to do that. Next was a house on st george st. where I learned what cal, and the harvest was all about, it was 1999 (they later burned it down) I needed a room so I rented from them paying in cash. After a week or 2 cal came to me and said they were changing policy, too many people were skipping out on them so they were insisting anyone staying with them had to sign their welfare checks over to them directly, then they would take your rent out giving you the change. I didnt like the idea, and he told me I had to leave the end of the month and did so. My impression was they were glorified landlords, under the guise of caring for the homeless, and the addicted, scoring tenants. They also gave me the cult impress when :I attend their "fellowship/church" meetings. After someone there burned the building down they opened another..."shelter" on mountain road, again this building was condemned. Is it right to make money in the name of god, no but it's not illegal apparently. They clearly need to be investigated, big time, try working for a living like the rest of us.
