Homeboy that shouts Deep Space 9, in real life the dude who committed suicide that he is portraying in this skit was the brother of the actress who played Uhura from the original Star Trek.
Making fun of and ridiculing a mass suicide, just demons mocking deceived humans at its finest. If it was the broadcasts family they would not be laughing, can’t wait for Jesus too end this world once and for all!
While I definitely don’t think serious issues should be minimized or joked about too soon after said tragedy, I still think this is pretty funny. While it’s questionable to make fun of the disciples being manipulated, I am all for making fun of self important narcissistic insane cult leaders like Applewhite. We have parodied major leaders of all kinds for less, and Applewhite definitely deserves every bit of ridicule he gets and deserves to be a laughing stock.
Who came here after the new documentary heaven's gate cult of cults I loved SNL back then but when I look back on this I kind of feel bad for them even though they were delusional it's clear they have mental health issues plus got manipulated by a cult leader
Looking back on this this kind of in poor taste like they have mental health issues and killed themselves I understand the times were different back then but there's a reason it's not on the SNL page
Does anyone know how to find the Nike revolution commercial parody? It was on this same episode but I can't find it anywhere, Beatles copyright I'm sure..
I like the old SNL, but this is wrong. Yes, the nikes used during heavens gate seemed bizarre. But there were 39 people who were brainwashed and died because of a dangerous cult. I see nothing funny about this.
They weren't allowed to enjoy food so they were way off on that joke. The last podcast on the left did a amazing 3 to 5 hour deep dive on the cult from start to end and did some amazing research. I just feel bad for the poor ppl. After T passed doe (marshal) turned it towards suicide rather than the monk like lifestyle they had while T was alive
I remember watching this when it came out. I also remember there was nike commercial that was also on this same snl episode. It started with the Beatles "Revolution" song. Then it showed all the footage of the dead cult member lying there in their Nike's. Then ended with "Just do it".
@@throwawayavclubber7269 Possibly my memory is incorrect. However I don't recall "Keds" shoes having a well known slogan. Plus all the decesed cult members were wearing Nikes.
This is actually really goddamn funny
Gee wonder why SNL won't post this one on their RUclips channel

Thank you for posting 😂
Did Marshall's dingaling grow back? 😆
only one of them castrated himself, and it wasn't Applewhite. Nor was it Applewhite's idea.
nah Applewhite was chemically castrated and he was evil leading his followers to death
Normal World brought me here ❤
Dave Landau brought me here.
Mark McKinney as Xantar. Sounds just like the head crush guy from Kids in the Hall. 😂😂😂
Man SNL used to be so funny
This is one of the funniest skits
Was this really them or was this a joke?
no, it's actually them! it's an inter-galactic videocall conection
I feel bad for the families of the victims who were brainwashed ❤️🩹 But this is so funny

Applewhite you nutball 😂😂😂😂😂
EPIC!
I miss the old snl.

Extremely poor taste & a factor towards why cults like this chose to alienate themselves from "normal society"

Everyone has mental health issues.
here because of the new documentary
Reporting in!
nope movie and reddit bring me here
Does anyone know how to find the Nike revolution commercial parody? It was on this same episode but I can't find it anywhere, Beatles copyright I'm sure..
Dark Side Of The 90s brought me here!
When Snl was still funny.. somewhat.. could have done without the two least funny cast members standing behind and beside Ferrell..
The Goods From The Woods told me to come
Im on the wrong side of RUclips again
Who came here from that comment on Deadmeat’s review of nope?
I’m a deadmeat fan but I came here from the HBO DOCUMENTARY of the cult
Lmaooo... I just seen all of this .. even the heaven gate story... Lol this was great 😂
You literally just found out about the Heaven's Gate story?
Too bad I can't find the Nike commercial where they also showed actual suicide footage. Shocking, but brutally funny. I miss those days.
Wwwhattt????
This one? ruclips.net/video/Fsd_vNTmTf0/видео.htmlsi=psIXfTVDRhFOJrrF
yeah someone needs to post that asap.

Hope us gets bombed by Russia
Its not that deep pal
@@bromleyareshite6555 was joking but not about us being pisstakeing
Shows how heartless the US is pisstakeing basteds
SNL is so funny remember when all those people kill themselves. By the way I'm being facetious that was horrible
Did you know these people had aliens invitation insurance - in the 90s!?
Funniest skit ever -Hammond as Ted Koppell is priceless
We made it!!
Neede more jokes.
Hammond was the only one I’ve seen who ever did a convincing Koppel. He and Bill Hader are the best impressionists SNL ever had.
The evolutionary level above human, is a compost pile behind the mansion they lived in 🤫
Oh how I miss when SNL was this bold and spot on!
me too! i remember how bold it used to be, very different from today!

@@codyprice6371 They were talking about leaving by their own hand before Ti left though. It's on audio tapes the group recorded.
To all you people saying this isn’t funny fuck off humor is subjective.
Fuck snl and their whole cast

I thought it ended with "Keds: Shoes for good Christians" or something like that. It's possible my memory is incorrect.
@@throwawayavclubber7269 Possibly my memory is incorrect. However I don't recall "Keds" shoes having a well known slogan. Plus all the decesed cult members were wearing Nikes.
@@throwawayavclubber7269 it ended “Keds: For Level Headed Christians”. Brilliant.
I wish we could have humour like that again. Everything is so boringly political correct these past few years its horrible.
STILL not as terrible as the people's temple
