Designing Interfaces for Autonomous Drones: Workflows and Widgets; Clara Kelley with BayCHI Program
August 13, 2024
baychi.org/calendar/20240813a/
Clara will explore key considerations for designing user interfaces for autonomous flying robots, drawing on insights from pilot observation and the resulting iterative software design.
She will show how the team simplified a complex data capture task using a workflow-based UI pattern, and strategies to reduce user stress through consistent control widgets and augmented reality (AR). Clara will also touch on patterns for human-in-the-loop interactions to validate edge computing results.
Clara Kelley is a lead interface designer at Skydio, a S.F. Bay Area drone manufacturer. For the past three years she has worked on web-based and controller-based...

Jared - love the Jeff Patton style overhead presentation of your sketches. But I recommend printing a picture of an audience an taping it within your view so you remember you're entertaining people as your style seemed so dramatically different than when you are on stage and I was hoping for more flow and more energy. You're awesome I'm nobody this is just honest feedback.

Holy Xanadu Batman. Well, I could see the immense power this has in allowing people to understand research papers the foundational technologies seem like they would be useful for learning even at an elementary school level. It’s rare that K through 12 materials in force a semantic understanding, and text books written with this technology seem like a step in the right direction.
