MY FAIR LADY (1964) Clip - Audrey Hepburn, Rex Harrison, & Jeremy Brett

Featuring Mona Washbourne, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Gladys Cooper, and Moyna Macgill. I think this is one of my favorite bits from "My Fair Lady" (and one of Hepburn's many shining screen moments) because the trying-too-hard Eliza is heedlessly and hilariously going off the verbal rails in a way that I can all too easily relate to. Hepburn is perfection. "My Fair Lady" is the lavish screen adaptatio...

Bruce Dern's then wife, Diane Ladd, would costar with Ellen a couple of years later in "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore".
I'd forgotten about that! Six Degrees of Dern
Gawddamn she's fine
She is! She is!♥
Harper was so cute. This and the number with the schoolkids were the highlights of the movie.
I agree on both counts. Jessica Harper is a real charmer in this, and Bernadette Peters in the scene with the kids is a knockout. Both actresses are SO talented.
🎉👌🙄
Thanks for the upload
You're so welcome
um.. dobby?(with beard)
Bizarre....weird....odd....but oh so strangely compelling !
Arthur Mitchell Trinity
1:22 at least he got a kiss olive
Remember watching this as a kid and thought was funny, then just watched it again tonight and thought it was awful, but the song does kind of grow on a person 🤔
Born in 2010. Love this movie.
Great movie better than the original
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤So love this movie!
I'm rewatching all of Sandy Dennis' movies. She is mesmerizing.
She is! And such a legacy of intriguing film roles and performances she left behind.
more clips of britt ekland movies please
Damn son
AUDREY A MUSA SAGRADA DIVINA , OCULTISTA ETERNA E IMORTAL
A great scene, from a great film.
ROFL played the role of a politician to a T.
*Briony Behets seemed to be a bit of a name in the 70s. She wasn't that great an actress, but when you look pleasing enough, I guess that makes up for a myriad of setbacks. To learn that she was a dancer and weathergirl is hardly surprising in the least*
You beautiful beast ❤❤❤
Epic movie, I miss all these actresses who have passed on
Such a terrific cast of greats at the start of their careers. Elizabeth Hartman and Joan Hackett are my particular favorites.
Hope he didn't buy the ring 💍 not for her , not for someone whom treats her partner like this
This movie was hilariously ahead of its time. 😅😅 I remembered being a kid and my mom and my aunts were howling at this part
One of my favorite movies ❤
Well I thought That I might have been the only one who enjoyed this scene in the film. Thank you
I could say the same! Thanks for sharing that you liked it as well. It's a good confrontation scene and a nice motivational disclosure of her character's ambition. 👍
Great film yet Elizabeth didn’t like it apparently
Mick looks like a woman.
Ok, now I "get it". I onlu knew Lionel Blair from Give Us a Clue and Name That Tune. Dude had some serious moves. 💜
I knew about William Conrad acting and doing voiceover work, but I didn't know that he directed too.
Yes! It surprised me, too, when I found out. He directed, I think, three movies, and a bunch of episodics for TV. With his producing, acting, and voiceover work, the man was busy! Oh, and Happy New Year, Dienna!
Come up and shee me shumtime
Can you even imagine how crazy this probably made white southerns back then?
I remember...They lost their friggin' minds! True to form, some theaters in the South refused to show it or feature ads in their newspapers. Others required the studio cut the entire kiss out while some distributors did it themselves without seeking permission. And some theaters were picketed or boycotted. Crazy.
@ Oh. I didn’t think you were around back then. But I remember someone was giving background info on the movie on TCM network & I think I remember them saying it did well at the box office down south
@@joewhitehead3@joewhitehead3 You're right; even with all the racist pushback, "A Patch of Blue" was successful in the South. It was more a case of people liking the movie and its theme (it's essentially harmless and non-threatening) but having a problem with the kiss. Given that it featured Poitier in another saintly role, even in those provinces that demanded the excising of the offending kiss, the film was well received. But in those days, nearly all films with integrated casts courted opposition in the South. But in most cases, the films, if the films had merit, prospered despite the controversy surrounding them. It's like with all aspects of social change in America even today...the initial negative reaction of the ignorant is ultimately never indicative of the larger, more egalitarian mindset of a civilized populace.
After about the third take on this and Preminger insisting on another, Mitchum slapped Preminger in the face. He could tell Jean Simmons was hurting and got pissed off at Preminger for demanding another take.
Oh, yeah...I remember hearing that anecdote on TCM. From various memoirs I've read, many actors who worked for Preminger over the years would have loved to do the same at some point.
@@dreamsarewhatlecinemaisfor In 1974 Mitchum went on to work with Preminger again on a film called 'Rosebud' but after a while on the shoot Mitchum and Preminger got into yet again over Preminger's yelling and being demeaning toward cast and crew. They got into it and Mitchum supposedly knocked a phone off the wall and quit the film and flew back to the US. There was a video on here about it but now I can't find it. Preminger was apparently a tyrant and Mitchum didn't react well to that. It's a wonder that Mitch even tried to work for Preminger again after their first go round.
@@Kevin-Morrison2822 Wow! I'd not heard that one! 😂Though there are exceptions like Pearl Bailey and Burgess Meredith, but the line of actors who found Preminger too much of a bully extend to Faye Dunaway who reportedly paid him after "Hurry Sundown" to be released from her 3 picture deal with him. And author Tom Tryon (The Other) credits/blames Preminger's cruelty during the making of "The Cardinal" for hastening his abandonment of acting for writing.
Dawn shakes her head no as she continues to chew on her sandwich. She is fierce.
😂
Yeah, kubrick was still on the horizon, three years on from this. As intense as he was known to be, i dont believe he put nicole through anything like the routine shelly had to endure for the shining. Kubrick is my absolute favorite director so im not complaining, i feel for shelley and i know she struggled in later years. Shes remarlable in portrait of a lady, her idiosyncrasies are present but controlled and the movie is tremendously underrated i think its superior to Campion's future best picture winner Power Of The Dog and equal to or slightly better than The Piano. But those are three great films
Definitely agree that this is one of Campion's most sorely underrated and under-seen films. Also, I'm inclined to agree about Kubrick. While almost everyone from Malcolm McDowell to Keir Dullea has commented on the director's emotional remoteness and task-master perfectionism, Duvall seems to have come under a special kind of abuse. Perhaps personal, for in interviews, Kubrick was just not very kind when speaking of her.
Rip 🪦 Shelly Duvall
I love this movie when I watch it and now to watch the happy couple dance in the beginning this just brings back memories ❤
"I love u. BUY ME THAT RING!!!" I mean...
"And I think you're underacting!!!"
😄
Jack Wild totally missed his chance playing John Darling, whether it be taking over for Disney, taking over in a Broadway revival of the musical, or if a live action made for television musical of Peter Pan had been done in the 1960s. He would have been so wonderful and perfect for the role!
Awsome movie
The timing of this scene is just so perfect. The gags hit just at the right time. They would never get away with these jokes today though.
Mary Jane Higby's character was so easy to hate.
Groovy man! I can dig it! Far out!
Oh Doechii needs to play Sheryl Lee Ralph in a biopic. DAMN she was fine
0:09 is that patty from grease?
Damn, she was cute!
2:08 she looks exactly like Mona Lisa 😮
Yes! I thought so, too. And I guess the filmmakers felt the same, for that's the actress used for the final superimposition at the 2:30 point.
Wait, I think she meant it has to be YOUR dune buggy. Herbie Hancock style.
Jaaaa maravilla😂
