Nice one!
💚
Nice
Thanks mathy.9 😊
Beautiful garden. I love the order in your garden beds. I’m a pepper lover too.
Thanks for that patti280 😊 Interestingly the garden beds evolved in the order I show based them. Bed 1 was my first bed I carved out of the tee tree forest. Then bed 2 and bed 3. As I tell my friends, fortune favours the prepper! 😊
Very good information David. I appreciate it a lot as I'm sitting here with 60 elephant garlic corms and came across your video in my information quest. Wishing you the best.
"Promosm"
Tried a nut-cracker?
Add some aspirin. 6 tablets:10L water. A cap of seaweed solution, too
When you said "secret location" I thought you were about to say ”Woolies" 😂
I have a problem where I have a lot of wasps around my place but I don't know where the nest is, there is no obvious direction they are coming from or going to. Do you have any recommendations for this situation?
April? What growing region are you in? It's almost may here in 7a and my scapes have just started coming out.
David, do you like some Floyd Mayweather?
I see a lot of Melbourne ants 😯😯😯
Not good when they get into your home 😢
@davidpriddy66 do you like Melbourne Aces (a baseball club from the ABL)
Do you like some baseball? Screen Queensland and VicScreen loves baseball and they needs some baseball teams in the future when the baseball in Australia becomes more popular that United States.
Thanks for the information, last year was the first attempt at growing Elephant Garlic and really had no idea about those corms. I now plan on using them to increase my volumes of usable and sellable Garlic.
How do u plant the corms though? They dont germinate well at all by just putting them in ground as is
ruclips.net/video/uARXKVxp6jQ/видео.htmlsi=eIMIbKqEwdnxZyxD
Ive aeen some people snip the top off and put in seasol and saw someone score the inside after taking off thr shell to help with corm germination. Will doing all 3 be necessary or jist take off shell ?@davidpriddy66
Soak it in an aspirin solution for 24-48 hours. Water with said solution after sowing
@TheKrispyfort why aspirin? Have u done this yourself for good results
Bandit from Bluey have Asian hornets
Where do you buy it.
You can purchase this through Agserv, David gray’s, Garrards, or Globe across Australia. You can also do a Google search and find lots of locations where it is available from across Australia 😊
They do love the salvia💙
He grows it and I do my best to preserve it, we will be very busy this season! The amount we are getting already is crazy! 💕💕💕
We call these German yellowjackets where I am from. Not as aggressive as some native species like V. squamosa, but they do built large nests. They are invasive here too and are very common in some areas nesting almost exclusively in structures as opposed to in ground. This species is on all the continents except for Antarctica I think.
But They’re Dangerous Like The Common Wasp They’re International Yellow Jackets 🐝 Because They Spread Worldwide
They are little buggers but you do have to admire the colours/patterns on them. Fipronil or dog flea treatment, about 2 drops per 85gm can of fish based cat food is enough to poison a whole nest when they take the bait back to nest.
Good job. Why not cut the tip where the growth comes from first then put in seasol/water for a day or two then plant?
Thank you! More useful info than videos much longer.
Sorry to ask a dumb beginner question but why do you soak the elephant garlic corms in salt water and why do you peel away the hard outer shell before planting? I have a bunch on order and wanted to learn why this is done before planting.
Seasol is a type of seaweed based fertilizer in Australia 🇦🇺, not sea water.
"Seasol (TM) in water" NOT sea salt in water 😂 Seasol is a seaweed based plant fertilizer
Wow. Garlic is huge! Also I’ve never heard of soaking before planting. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I lost my hens this week to a fox, it’s just devastating and I’m in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. Great idea but I have small dogs I have to let out into my yard…I think I will just pour a concrete slab as the base of my coop, it won’t be possible for it to dig it’s way in again. Wire and bricks clearly didn’t work like I thought it would 😢
That’s A Yellow Jacket
As expected of you, great video!
Is this a different type of elephant garlic or is it truly a Russian garlic?
It's Allium Ampeloprasum, it's not a true garlic but closer to a Leek, in Russia the most common name used for it is Rocambola, which is also not correct, other names used for it is Pakistanski, white elephant or Gigant.
Russian, Buffalo, Bawang, Kissing, Elephant, and Giant garlic are all the same thing
@@garlicandchilipreppers8533 I wondered what the taxonomical name was. Ta
❤️
IM DISLIKING
DO YOU KEEP THEM AS PETS
I am doing research to develop solutions to eradicating these invasive pests. So when I find them I’m doing winter counts to ascertain the following season’s populations as well as tracking how far they move from source nests. Interesting research
SO YOU DONT KILL THEM
How far do they typically migrate from last years nest? I am guessing they disperse twice. Once from the natal nest in fall, and again in the spring.@@davidpriddy66

Good commentry there David.some of these vids are infuriating.i too had a similar experience with Siberian garlic.a Hungarian guy had some growing unloved next to his laundry he gave me seven cloves and a couple of rounds the third season I pulled 180 out of the ground a little bit of work but once it's growing a bit of weeding and water and I dry them in a chook house plenty of air around them and make sure they're dry when you pack them away touching one another.beautiful I'm going to plant about 150 cloves this year and over 200 corms should make a few Bob next xmas.cheers
Nicely explained💕
how do you store till time to plant. Also do you plant in autumn?
Hi Kara I'm in West Oz Perth hills and plant in march and pull them up around mid December
@grandad400 thank you 😊
Love your work!❤️
I bring a small pot of water with a teaspoon of salt to a boil, drop the greens in, put the lid on and turn off the heat. I leave them in the pot for about 5 minutes. Absolutely sweetest tastiest greens! Yum!
Hi I’m from Hobart. I’ve planted some corms in mid winter but there’s no sign of it growing. Fyi, I just break the pointed tip of the shell but did not remove it.
Any updates on you seedlings progress?
Gday Mindy. Sorry for the delay in posting updates. I’ve been caught up in work travel interstate. I’ve uploaded a video at 35 days and I’ll be doing another one shortly 😊 Thanks for your interest in my little setup 👍 More coming shortly 😎
💕💕💕

I’d love to make a similar setup. Where will I get the fluro battens from?
Thanks for your kind feedback. I got these battens from a left over at a job site (I like free stuff, or using what I have on hand). A lot of businesses are switching over to LED lighting, so you should be able to get free (or very cheap) fittings online if you do a little searching 😊
Wow would have been great footage to capture that as it happened!
I wasn’t home at the time. But two people were. It scared the heck out of them when it happened. Blew the tree completely apart
Hi David, what kind of growlights are you using?
They are a 4 foot long, 36watt Sylvania grolux tube. The part number SYLVANIA FL36W T8 GROLUX 246250👍
Do you need to water them in this setup very often? How do you water them?
That’s a terrific question. I check on them Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday. They only need a “light” water on these days. Any pods which are dryer than others get a bit more of a soak. It’s really really important not to overwater. I did this one year and a lot of seeds rotted before they germinated. When I first put seeds in soil I give a good drench then don’t touch for 7 days. 👍
Sorry Mindy. Missed answering your second part of your question. I usually just take the trays outside and place on the ground and overwater with watering can. Or the second way (my lazy way) is I fill an old 2 litre coke bottle with water (rain water) and gently pour down the inside of the trays while slightly lifting the edge of the seedling pods (if that makes sense). I put enough water to just cover the bottom of the tray.
Awesome setup!🌷🌷🌷
i will wait for your more videos about corms sir
hi sir im from pakistan im going to grow 2 acre of corms this year insha allah i hv learnt much by your procedure plz .thanks alot
Thank you for your kind words😊
Some research out of Egypt looked at the affect of aspirin in helping develop water stress resistance
How do corms grow in "Nature"???
That’s a really good question. The outer shell is like the woody cover on stone fruit. It protects the inner seed from drying out and keeps it viable for long periods. I’ve had corms pop up as garlic 2 and 3 years after original garlic crop was removed. I’m not aware of anything that eats garlic (like rabbits or other vertebrates), so I assume it protects them from the environmental elements until the right conditions occur when it germinates 👍😊
