There's another abandoned petrol station with abandoned night club behind it in essex that's worth exploring. Can't remember exactly where it is but it's on a main road like that with a side road next to it called Tilbury road. North Weald Redoubt fort. Five minutes from my house and never knew it was there for years. My first explore. Waders needed. Also has 2 rare examples of Alan Williams Gun Turrets. Originally a Victorian era Mobilisation centre and the northern most centre of a ring of them that surrounded the capital. Designed to protect London from a french invasion. Most of these centres were just weapons and ammo storage so that people could atm themselves in time of attack from the French. Most of them seem to be in Surrey. Most notable one is reigate fort.

I have been visiting cold christmas church for majority of my life. When I was little, I was always extremely scared of it, and I fondly remember my first time visiting the church. My family and I would often go down there in the summers of the late 2000's and we would spend hours down there with picnics. I have heard many sightings of supernatural things, and ghosts in the area. The one I remember the most is of a woman in the 70's going down there and seeing a roman army come from the door in the tower straight up the hill towards, and through her. I also heard stories in the local paper about the place and how haunted it is supposed to be. I have visited it a lot recently and I am a very superstitious person and I do believe in some sort of spirits. However, I have to boldly state that during the entire time I have been visiting the church and grave yard, even when it was completely overgrown, I have never seen or heard anything spooky, or felt uncomfortable for that matter. My brother and his friend said that when we were leaving the church once, they heard a male voice shout for my name, but I claimed that it was simply just a sheep in the field next to us. I would like to know if anyone has actually honestly seen something strange there, or whether they are just trying to scare others. Thanks :-)

I flew my drone up there today the graves are lined up because people dug up the bodies and moved the graves round the edge and also there is someone that committed suicide inside apparently

hey Larry , surprised to see this place all tidied up with the new gravel paths etc. last time I went there it looked proper abandoned and messed up. my parents lived in nearby Flitwick in the 60's and one of the few reasons they moved back to start Alban's was some shenanigans that was going on at the church at the time . You should check out Minsden Chapel , in Preston , Herts . only about half an hour from clophill 😉
