Thank you Giovanni for taking me out of Milano towards Garda, and Theo, for your incredible generosity of not only taking me most of the way home from that dreadful autogrill on the highway 7 km west from Modena to the outskirts of Zagreb, but to pay for a bus ticket for the rest of the way to Budapest. You guys really kept me in high spirits for most of this trip. For the dentist in Brescia, I forgot your name! Thank you for the champagne and the t-shirts. Thank you for Rashin for taking me from Pavia to Lodi. Sorry if I left someone out, I’m pretty sure I have. The last 48 hours were a fever dream, long walks and staying awake until exhaustion. 2379 km travelled, almost 50 km walking. The resulting blur of memories makes you question: “did that really happen?”. To the woman who I imagined to be the future mother of my children 9 years ago only for her to be the mother of someone else’s children 4 years later, I’ve never seen you more well, I’m practically turning bright yellow with envy as I write this. Maybe a bit too personal for a public comment but not many people will read this anyway. So many good Italians on this trip. I slept at 45.638673, 8.690059; 45.532600, 9.162095; 45.833561, 15.775348; I successfully hitch-hiked out of Milano from 45.537723, 9.160558. I need more waterproof footwear now. To the kind stranger who showed me the way into Zagreb through the bus to Crnomerec, thank you, you saved me an hour. I met a woman in Zagreb who's from Keszthely, which was a fun coincidence.
opinel lanyard idea for deep pocket carry. this is a piece of bicycle derailleur cable with the end flied down to under 1.75 mm (70 thou) flat, so it can fit into the handle. the hole needs to be slightly over 1.2 mm (48 thou), and the optional cover over the cable is electronics heat shrink. the crimp comes from fishing supplies. you have to carve a little bit out of the handle for the cable to be able to fit into the handle. i never liked the idea of just drilling a hole sideways like people usually do. this adds about 3 grams to the weight of the knife. if you decide to remove this, the damage is a tiny hole in the bottom of the handle.
it's a no name saddle from aliexpress. if you search "retro saddle", you'll find it. it's 10 euros shipped but it is surprisingly decent, although it isn't real leather and the cover will start to crack about 10k in which is only aesthetically a problem, not functionally. i use it for long distance touring without any issue.
i tried paying with mastercard at edeka krönauer and they didn't accept it. it's visa only territory. profusely apologised to the cashier, said goodbye and walked out of the shop. a nice lady followed in about a minute with all my stuff i left saying "it's a present for you"
it's the integrated gimbal of the dji pocket 2. little camera has decent sound and it's not very annoying; i'd buy it again if i ever lost it. decent microphone input as well, but it's not waterproof
Hey Mark! I see you survived Es Foguero! You even have my tag on video! 😜 That's nice to know you're good. If you ever come back to Mallorca and you need a helping hand you got me here. Good luck! And really nice footage you have here! Best regards!
i did wake up a couple of times expecting the it follows guy looking at me (2014 horror film) but it was all good. you showing me that place made the whole trip better, it's such an unusual thing to find on what's supposed to be a hiking trip. thank you again. i'll keep in touch if i'm near there for sure, although i don't know when that might be
I'm happy you enjoyed it and there was noone to disturb you 😅 we had a BBQ burgers yesterday over there cause it was raining.. and there are hundreds more of places like this one to visit 😉
Grossartig!

Rasta dog
that dragonfly sat on my arm for about ten minutes 0:59 and ate a tiny spider. it was finished with it by the time i thought of grabbing the camera

a cinematic masterpiece Mark.
I never would have thought I'll be the Orson Welles of faulty lightswitch videos, but hey, here we are.
