This is the earliest video I've seen with Mike playing his signature Reverend Wattplower Mk II. I just picked one up in Root Beer Sparkle. It's a beast. Super well made, and the finish is gorgeous. Tons of different tones available. The custom Reverend pickups are also first class.

I was too young to ever see the Minutemen when they were around. But somehow this lineup (and also the one with Raul) makes me feel like I can still experience their music properly. Tom Watson is one of the underrated dudes in music.

Glad to have stuck with this one until 8:48. I couldn't help but be reminded a bit of Zappa's earlier work, like on Hot Rats with Captain Beefheart. Mostly came here to hear more of Watt's playing. This one took some "work" to understand, but once you get it, it settles into a thing that's pretty interesting.

I never heard of Mike Watt, or heard him, before seeing this. This guy's a monster. He's a jazz punk bassist. I never thought I'd ever encounter that combination! Geez. He's so good.
