Sorry, too over. I missed the starting temp and approximate timing. It was burned imo.
Hey, thank you for your comment. We agree the final temp was a little over for our liking, (which we mentioned in the vid), but the steak was still super tasty. Not burnt on the outside, we had a nice crust going from our reverse sear. The Yoder can certainly do what the title of the video says!
What temp?
I would run the pit at 250 to 300f for another hour and then allow to cool and wipe off any residue and you'll be good to go!
Any details on the knife you used?
Hey, thank you for your comment. We used the, Tuo Cimitar Knife, 14 inch. You can find them on Amazon, this knife is great for larger cuts that need slicing.
What about foil on it ? Do you just cover both pieces with heavy duty foil ?
Great Question. What I do is remove the door and place foil across the plate covering the hole. I then place the door back in its position over the top, which helps hold the foil down. I don't cover the door in foil.
cool bit of kit!
Lovely bit of kit, can’t wait to purchase one
Hey thanks for your comment. You will love it!
Just got my ys640s... haven't used searing function... I did buy the sear grills.. was told it was to prevent grease fires in the pot... great video
Hey thank you for commenting. I think the sear grills would be a great option if you're planning on using your yoder for this type of cooking more regularly. The pit can certainly achieve a hot direct temp!
For $350 I am surprised more people are not just cutting out their own door and tacking on the under supports themselves.
Yea I got mine last November, had to buy the ultimate package with grill grates , cast iron griddle 4 bags of pellets ect.to get the 2 piece diffuser plate
Sorry for the late response. Do you love the Yoder?
@@themooseshedbbq4582 not really a pellet grill is no more then a outdoor oven, food has no smoke taste, but I have a yoder 48 flattop that I love,
@Dunning's Smoking Pit ahh thats too bad... what pellets are you using? We use Lumber Jack, I mainly use the oak for briskets and the oak apple blend for pork butts and pecan for ribs and chicken. I recently bought a drum smoker (Drumbo) and I love it! I've been interested in the flat top from yoder but I don't really need it right now.
@@themooseshedbbq4582 I have used bbq delight, b &b which r made by bbq delight in Arkansas lumberjack, literally doesn't matter what u use....take a handful of your pellets and put them up to your nose, smell them, there is no odor, therefore no taste on your food unless u r cooking at 150, the drum smokers are amazing, the flavor of your food is to die for!!
No the door still warps and the diffuser also will rust. Stainless would have been a better option.
How look u had your yoder, mine hasnt warped yet
Spray your diffuser with Pam or something similar. Give it a super thick coating and then run it for 2-3 hours at 350-450. That will stop the rust. As for the warped plate, just contact support and they will send another no problem. Hope this helps!
After nearly a year of continuous use my door has warped very slightly. No longer a snug fit in the recess.
Any reason you didnt prime it properly?
Not really necessary to prime if the fire box has pellets in it already. Also the auger turns as soon as you press start and adds pellets to the fire box long before the rod gets up to temperature, so even if the fire box is empty it wouldn't really matter.
Hey, thanks for your comment. You can either add some pellets to the burn grate or you can just let the auger drop them in. Either option works fine.
I just bought one last October and had to purchase the 2 piece separate. I was a little disappointed. I did pay for the 2 piece diffusor, grill plates, and griddle. I'm just not sure what to do with the single piece diffusor. Seems like an option that should come from the manufacturer.
Yeah its a little frustrating, but as mentioned in the video you have to spend the extra money to get it regardless. You wouldn't have the solid one as a spare if it was included, so you kind of get 2 for the price of one... Thank you for your comment 😁
Can’t wait to see something cooking on it!
Thank you
I cooked this. Lovely curry
We hope you enjoyed the recipe, thank you for watching. 😁
