Redes ("Nets") dates from 1936 and is a dramatized documentary about fishermen working in the Gulf of Mexico. The Pomona College Orchestra's October 2022 program featured Alberto Ginastera's Dance Suite from the ballet "Estancia" (Ranch). This concert-hall favorite played a big role in establishing Ginastera's reputation as one of Argentina's most important composers, and the suite concludes with the celebrated "Malambo." The Pomona College Orchestra opened its October 2022 concerts with the Abertura concertante (Concert overture) by Mozart Camargo Guarnieri. Guarnieri was a Brazilian conductor/composer who worked for many years at the São Paulo Conservatory, becoming its director in 1960. Hi Charles, good question. As near as I can tell, no commerical recording is available. The piece got a lot of performances in its first decade or so, but has since fallen a bit out of fashion. Hopefully someone with the right resources will take up the charge!

I live in Suffolk UK close by Snape Maltings - perhaps you could interest them in performing it at a future Aldeburgh Festival or Snape Proms and through them someone to record it - it does contain after all subtle hues of Ben Brittens artistry. The Rainbow is a symbol of Unity amidst diversity - such a deep and evocative symbol for today amidst the Corona Virus Pandemic and for all time. As Dostoevsky observed "Beauty will redeem the world" Best wishes. Charles

@@pjc1954 Good evening pjc. Sadly no - not to my knowledge. How I wish someone with 'Connections' would listen... take up the opportunity and maybe make a compilation album of music with a Rainbow theme... for goodness sake everyone loves Judy Garland singing 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' , Kermit sings about them and there must be other songs, maybe about Bifrost the burning rainbow bridge of Norse Mythology etc all resonating with and so being of interest to a broad spectrum of people...............heh hmm.
