Love CCR!
Put the purse down son hit it like you mean it.
This song makes we want to own a couple sreggin.
what scale do you use Doyle or Scribner C?
With few exceptions, all mills purchase wood on the International 1/4 inch here in Maine
Liked for the song choice alone 🇺🇸
"Well, they ran through the briars and they ran through brambles and they ran through the bushes where a rabbit wouldn't go..." Haha. I've loved that sing since I was 10.
👌
How much u waited for saw?
I placed the order October 23, 2023 and received the saw shortly before this video posted.
What grapple attachment are you using? Looks like it’s quite well built
It is an HLA Attachments grapple. It was new in 2019 and we haven't had any issues with it.
Is a chainsaw
Good job 😊
Thanks for the comment!
In your opinion do you think it's money well spent for the ported saw? Can't wait for some road building videos!
To early to tell. Love the saw so far. Certainly more power than the stock saw. Runs more like a stock 562XP. The question will be durability. If it holds up well I'd say it's worth it. Thanks for the comment!
Not once bothered to look up at the top of the tree for falling branches, while he belted the wedge in. Very foolish
All the safety equipment in the world is not going to protect you from stupidity. !!!!!!!
Did I miss something here that made you leave this comment?

I changed my 7 pin to an 8 pin with an 18 inch light bar and stihl rs chain. Its still .325 but man it absolutely rips. Did a nice muffler mod with welded pipe and it came alive. Best most fun saw i ever owned and i have 660, 380... And a few others but the 550 mark 2 is on another level
Thanks for commenting. Yes, great saws. I have always just run a stock saw but was still always impressed. This new modified saw is very impressive.
That 23rs pro Stihl chain is definitely awesome! I run it on an original version 550xp g. I noticed though, with a 20“ bar using the full length cutting hardwoods the saw struggled. I did some research and from the builders that port them I found these are high revving saws but lack torque. Rather than having it ported I purchased a high compression base gasket from eBay and opened up the muffler and exhaust port. Wow! A poor man‘s port job and it pulls the 20“ bar with authority now. It out performs my MS361 with 3/8 20“ bar. I certainly have no complaints with .325 narrow kerf.
@@kbittorf335 man I'd love to find that base gasket you are talking about. I did a really nice muffler mod and it sounds great and really made a huge difference in power but I'd sure like that base gasket you used. I didn't know it even existed.
@@matthewknight5641 The user name is Gaskets247 and for the mk2 it‘s a .029“ thick gasket $4.95 each. The OEM gasket is apparently .041“ thick.

Nice video. We have just over 200 acres with about 1/4 of it covered by dying beech. Not too bad of a winter job with our little tj205 and forwarding trailer. All of it goes to firewood except for a few nice saw logs for our mill. What I struggle with is the spruce and fir that need to come down because it's in the way. It's all too small for our mill but could probably go to the larger industrial sawmill in the area. What is your strategy to market your spruce and fir? cheers
Not sure where you are located, but around here there are several industrial mills or concentration yards within striking distance. So we sell directly to the mill. They are high production facilities that take small wood (minimum is a 10'6" 4" top log). Thanks for the comment. Good luck forestering!
Salvage work is never very fun but it’s necessary.
One tree at a time! What do you run for a skidder??
@@GoodWoodTJ208 I have a 78 timber jack 225d with a 353 Detroit
Nice. Love the Timberjacks! Along with the 208E we also have a 1979 230D....all good skidders. Never run a 225. What size tires are on that?
@@GoodWoodTJ208 16.9x30 rubber
I konw it sucks to get a buch of blow down but it might be a good thing open it up more for the pine to grow and if you spread some accorns oak should grow good there too
Love this song so much
It’s a constant thing on our wood lot and projected too get worse. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the comment. Fir is a constant battle....hard to keep up with. The wind storm last December was especially bad though.
Where is your woodlot located by the way?
@@GoodWoodTJ208 we’ve been cutting the fir and white birch, replanting white pine/red spruce. Red oak acorns. 300 acres located in southern New Brunswick
Very nice. The other issue over here now is the wood markets are pretty weak too.
@@GoodWoodTJ208 same over here, luckily we have a pulp market still but just covering your expenses not making any money. Studwood isn’t much better. Trucking really kills.
Well done.
👍
Hot work this time of year. I save my softwood for the winter.
Haha. I'd like to do that as well but a lot of this had blown over so I'm trying to salvage it before it goes bad. Thanks for the comment.
Poplar is nice to cut it always adds up fast! Skidder sounds good too!
Poplar and pine are the best...easy cutting and big piles!
Does that even pay for the fuel?
@jdatwood7086 Haha! You're not wrong to ask....if we didn't own the wood already it would really not be good. The forester in me can't let it go to waste though. We end up with around $130/cord after trucking. Thanks for the comment 👍.
@@GoodWoodTJ208 That’s not too bad. I enjoy the pay better on my own land too! I cut lots of stuff on my property that isn’t worth messing with on client lots. I assumed you were on a client lot.
Your a good man! 130 pieces to a load??
Haha!! I figured it was about .88 cents for a 10 foot 4 inch top piece....so you're not far off unfortunately 😐
Sorry misread your message. A LOT more than that on a load.....
Oh boy you need a faster cycle time on your log splitter
No kidding... Fortunately this is just for home use. If we were running a firewood business there would be an upgrade for sure! Thanks for the comment.
You guys always give Bob the toughest jobs!😂
LOL...its a tough job running that lever and pointing to which piece to pick up next!
😱 'Promosm'
Cool😊
Thanks for the comment!
Nice pull
👍
Be kind to those Rockwell planataries.
Thanks for the comment. Slow and easy! I've heard that is the weak point on the TJ 208s - axles and planetaries.
That looks like pine
Forestry is easy.
I never leave my saw in the woods that's a amateur move could very easily drag a skid over it or run over it with the skidder if I'm cutting and skidding by myself I carry it on the skidder inside with me
208!!! I used to drive gas job!! Fun machine...where u at?
Maine.
Many trees have high value 👍
got some decent looking balsam there all dying? that next cut? whats the pople going for?
The fir is scattered here, but some of it does need to be cut. I did pick up some when cutting the poplar, but the skidder stays local so will be back eventually.
Good video, I run a 66 tree farmer with a 353 detroit on my channel.
Very nice. Never run a tree farmer but there seems to be a few of them around. Similar to Timberjacks....they just keep running. I'll check out your channel. Thanks for the comment.
In one way it's sad to see the tree cut down. But I know we need it. Many years to grow, and only seconds to cut it down. I use to work with wood and I truly appreciate the beauty of the wood when a project is finished. 👍 .
Thanks for the comment. I'm a forester by training so understand what you are saying. Society does need wood products and it is a renewable resource. It is just a long time horizon for another crop!
@@GoodWoodTJ208 ✔️
The old timberjack skidder around 1970 model...there were the real deal then
Good skidders for sure. Reliable and tough. Thanks for the comment!
That second cut was butter.
Badass
I love this song
do you guys have a local mill you bring your pine too? hard to sell right now in VT
There are several larger pine mills here in Maine and in Quebec. This will go to a local yard that will then sell them to one of these mills. The market here is similar to what you describe in VT though. The mills are full of logs and their lumber prices seem to be dropping. I would NOT be cutting pine right now if they hadn't blown over...just hoping to move this volume to get it cleaned up! Thanks for the comment.
how true 🇱🇷😎🇱🇷
That is a hard job you get pay good though if you can survive wherever happened to that show on TV when they show these log guys working that was a good show😅
It's a labor of love no doubt!
Damn i wanna get some of that!
www.chandlersugarshack.com You can order it online!
There is 'salvaging' happening in this video.
Haha! Watch the full video and it will be clearer. This short does make it look like we are on the Gravy Train though....
Thanks for this comment because I was thinking the same. Make sure things are unambiguous because on one side there's fake news, and on the other there's overly cautious people like me. 😅
Dont cry,it grows back.
I agree....they grow back, but I hate to see them get blown over before their time!
I hate to ring a tree that has good lumber potential. But sadly sometimes you just have to
For sure. That is the disappointing part - these trees had a lot more growth potential but I guess mother nature had other ideas.
Looks like this dude is about to build his own small town😃.
Looks good 👍
Thanks for the comment!
Notable desde chile❤
I used to log with a John Deere 440B and loved that little machine! I also used a Timberjack 225 and that was a great skidder too! I think its the same as a 208 but with a slightly bigger motor.
I like the TJs....simple and easy on and off! Great skidders.
