She was apparently camouflaged. But then that adds a question of if her cocoons can camouflage, then does her silk have that ability too? Could she hide anything under her silk? I doubt they'll ever explore that but it's a neat power. They could have used that to hide the Iwi city better. But the plot fucking sucks

Wingard seemed to forget the Chen sisters even exist. I understand the need to separate Mothra's worshipping priestesses from two scientists who could have a difficult time coming to terms with a being's undescribable divinity - but come on. The Chen sisters are already established to be Mothra's Shobijin in the Monsterverse, shouldn't they at least be mentioned? But since the Iwi are mute, if we ever get to see a singing scene (Possibly in the context of a lullaby), then the Chen sisters will be the ones singing for sure

I find no sense in Jia being there. They didn't even show how she rode Mothra to the surface, but they do mention it in the novel. Would it really be that fucking hard? Other than this no, this scene is awesome. Mothra has always been a peacemaker figure (when she wants to be) like we see in Ghidorah the three headed monster movie. This movie has many flaws but at least they established Mothra as a peace keeper and someone that can reach Godzilla.

It's not. Mothra is always her own mother because she's born from the eggs she lays. He doesn't know how to speak about lore even if he had a gun pointed to his head. But to retcon what was established in KOTM would be insane. I don't think even he would try to do that, the fandom didn't like the confusion either.

@@mirkohoble It's a theory that popped up on Twitter after it was mentioned in an interview, but again, the fandom already decided to ignore that if he really tried to retcon KOTM It could be interpreted both ways, as there now being two Mothras (somehow) or as Mothra having laid that egg waaaay before the Great Titan war and it being old as shit, so her body is also older (as mentioned in the novel). But they also mention multiple times in the novel dialogues along the line of "it can't be the same Mothra but somehow it Is" So just enjoy whatever canon you prefer tbh, I prefer Mothra being immortal and reincarnating from her own eggs. It's more badass. (And I hate that he made her need a human to be reborn this time. Sure, Wingard. The closest thing we have to a god in the Monsterverse needs help from humans)

@@ChronicaErys Thank you. If I have to choose, I will go with the immortal goddess like she always has been too. I mean, I like Monsterverse giving kaijus a more scientific background, and how Mothra's rebirth can be explained through science, but at the same time I like to think that Mothra is immortal because her soul is the same, therefore she is a goddess, maybe not one with mystical unexplainable powers, but a goddess nonetheless.

I think she is queen because she's immortal and I think that's impossible to "beat" tbh. But we haven't had any content released that shows us how they met and grew to respect each other yet. Maybe the next movie will give us something and show us how they became king and queen

They both look so soft for each other in this scene. Mothra's antennae are drawn back and relaxed, Godzilla is practically kneeling to be level with her and looking at her with such calmness and like an equal It's adorable

You'll be disappointed if you go for her tho, they misused her a lot and made her just half of an aerial support. She has 1 minute and a half of screentime and half of that is shared with a human that took her spotlight (Jia)

@@ChronicaErys dang. This movie really is trash. Speaking of trash, how the fuck does a 164.000 ton creature leap into the air without crumbling to bits??? This franchise went from "powerful force of nature" to "haha monke punch big lizard" these past 2 movies really forgot from where they came.

The Godzilla x Kong movies are just popcorn flicks, they have no plot other than what's barely necessary, the pace of a TikTok video, and no thought put into the lore. Minor spoilers - but how would the Iwi know about Skull Island if they were isolated in the deepest parts of the Hollow Earth, for example? Why does Mothra need a human to be reborn when she never needed one before? The immortal reincarnating DEITY needs help from mortals? Come on, Wingard I'm happy the next movie will have different writers, a different director and a focus on Godzilla (which will then also focus on Mothra. Hard to have the King without the Queen) I'm holding on to hope, friend. I really am

It's been implied by the director of KOTM that she has multiple eggs hidden everywhere. So since she was established in this movie as protector of the Iwi from Hollow Earth, she also laid eggs in there. This is not an egg tho, it's a cocoon, and old as hell as said in the novelization, Wingard took some liberties to make Mothra skip the egg phase it seemed

Jia must have told her all the tea while they held eye contact and Mothra immediately got down to business and tracked Godzilla down :p
