Thanks so much Angela, brilliant to hear the superior drinks package is included so you can toast the new year! Dining is very good and we had no complaints with the quality or portions.

The beauty is that the cabins on the lower deck have a window so you can still enjoy some natural light, you may even spot some ducks or swans swimming by. Where will the ship be for New Year's Eve?

We'll have spent the day in Vienna on 31st and then we'll be sailing towards Budapest in the evening. So happy to be visiting Budapest again at the start and the end of the cruise.

From research I've done, it doesn't appear that there was public transport in ancient Pompeii, people would travel on foot or use wheeled vehicles pulled by ox or mules. No obvious school buildings have been uncovered yet but that doesn't mean there wasn't any as they are excavating new areas still. Doctors would definitely have been in Pompeii and there is a building that has been named House of the Surgeon because of the medical instruments found there. They would have likely had specialisms for example, a doctor who specialised in removing arrows!

If it helps I found the trains in La Spezia to be more clean, modern and efficient than UK trains. If you aren’t sure you could do a ferry trip around the villages instead?

No, movement is minimal on a river cruise, you may feel a slight tilt when the ship is taking a bend in the river but it’s nothing like an ocean cruise for movement. On Tui the dress code is relaxed. Evenings you can wear smart casual, like you’d wear at home to go out for a meal or to the pub. The captain’s dinner is one evening when you’d dress a little smarter but nothing like an ocean cruise formal. For men, it would be a collared shirt and trousers, no tie or jacket required. We cruised the Rhine at the beginning of October, it was sunny but jeans and jumper required with the odd t-shirt day. Hope this helps!

If I remember rightly, we’d been eating lots of salad in the run up to this cruise 😂 so that might be why we didn’t choose many! You can always get salad items in the buffet during lunch and dinner.

@CruiseLifestyle we saw a woman in Cherbourg moaning how crap the ship was because she ordered ice to her cabin and it never came. She also was complaining about waiting 5vmibs for the lift. 5000 people on board, there's always the stairs. Honestly you can't please some people. I would have been happy staying on that amazing ship all 5 days.

@@markenetube some people will always find something to complain about. I remember hearing someone moaning that they didn’t think the corn flakes were Kelloggs in the buffet. What I’ve learnt to do is make my own mind up about things and it sounds like you do the same.

It was a really good size for the two of us. You could have the window open if you wanted but you’d have to keep the blind up.

It definitely suits us, we used it more than a regular cabin.

I understand that lots of ships have single beds that can then zip together to join and this means it can be flexible depending on what people want. I’m glad that they were able to sort that for you when you requested it. I don’t recall ever having single duvets on a river ship but I have come across it in European hotels so I’m wondering if that’s the reason? As Riviera is mainly British (some Australian) you would think the duvets would be doubles. Hope it didn’t cause too much uncomfort - sounds like you still enjoyed the cruise overall.

We didn’t experience any rough seas as we cruised around Croatia so the sea was pretty calm - sorry!

It is, the proposed cap at 8k passengers is still too much in my opinion. Our original plan was to take the ferry to Oia like you did but when we arrived, the first ferry didn’t leave for 1.5hrs and the cable car was quiet. I wouldn’t want to visit in the high of the season!

Absolutely! We’re pleased we did the local bus. In Fira we did spot a company selling tickets for a bus to Oia for €25!

It was very pretty, especially in Oia. Definitely a destination to visit at least once!

No tour guides have the same access as the public. Pompeii has very little information around the site so a tour guide is helpful to show you the things you may walk passed/miss/not understand
