Phillips is a riveting historical fiction novelette that intertwines real events with imaginative storytelling to uncover the mysterious past of the Chiscas tribe. Described by Spanish explorers as having white skin, blue eyes...

Beautiful Mountain Air home available soon!
I'd live there.
It’s a shame when you don’t know who all migrated into the area. I’ve lived here for over 60 years are you guys from here????
Can be used as vocation home by dirty politician 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
I went to school there when it was still laurel high school.
What’s the deepest snow you’ve seen out here?
Love the homage to Ralph Lewis. ❤
I would love to come
Does the property have restrictions? I have a few friends coming with me. 🐄🐄🐄🐓🐓🐓
Looks like y'all had a lot of fun. I was wondering if we're related. I descend from Lazarus Phillips Jr. Through his son Warfield
My hometown
Are you related to Gean Hicks?
@@garycousino4016 Mrs. Teresa was my elementary substitute teacher for years I've known her my whole life this is my hometown. Me, my sister and my brother grew up here my mom was born and raised here and to answer your question about Mr hicks yes she married 1 of his sons. As a little girl I swam in the original hot springs in the early 80's before what people see nowadays.
@@kellettmargaret7 First time I came up there to paddle the river was 78 or 79. Most of the buildings in town were vacant. Used to camp at Rocky Bluff campground. Must had been around 1990 we came across the bridge and saw a piece of plywood propped up against a tree that said campground. One of Mr Hicks sons was in the process of removing junk cars from back behind the gas station. Had maybe half a dozen camp sites cleared. We stayed there instead of Rocky Bluff and hired Genes son to run shuttle for us. That went on for several years. Sometimes we would have 20+ folks in our group staying there. Hot Springs really took off after the campground .
@@canoesino9290 I was born in 78 and yes the hot springs were in a old condemned building in the mid 80's then Mr hicks put a lot of that there my mom graduated from the school in town now it's been a elementary school for yrs years I graduated 8th grade there after rebuild and was the last 8th grade class there my sister was the last 8th grade class from the original school. Years ago it was called hot springs high school in 72-73 I still have 2 aunts that live there and 6 cousins I left in 2015 my parents left in 96 it used to be awesome sleep with the door's open and windows never had to worry about kidnappings nothing but not nowadays.
@@garycousino4016 yes gene Hicks was my father in law
My great grandfathers place of birth and hometown. He moved from hot springs with wife and young son to laurens, SC around 1940. They had another son and two daughters. He owned a construction business. He died in 2008 at abt 92 yrs old. I was 19.
Hwy 19 & 23!!! Always
Was a member of bailey mountain cloggers...my beautiful place! Thank you for sharing this!
This is a fabulous video and information about a lovely place in the county where I grew up. Planning a visit soon!
Home sweet home !!!
Great video! My hometown and I love to visit as often as I can.
Awesome Capture! Beautiful Place!😊👍
Such a beautiful place A must visit😉👍
Beautiful!
Great video . God's country .
I love it! Bout brought a tear to my eye. Great production, great music and the sentiment behind the song is felt as well as heard. Gotta love the lil girl in the band with the big boys... the next generation keeping our mountain traditions alive! I'm a fan for life!
I've loved this band since they started years ago, and they never disappoint. Great music, great lyrics, great talent.
Good job..brought back a lot of old memories...enjoyed the song too..
Great song!! I enjoy listening to your music!!
I think I saw my house from there, lol! Honestly, I'm pretty sure I did. Yes people, it really is THIS beautiful out here! Breathtakingly so. Mars Hill Baby!
I'm proud to be from, and live in Madison county NC! It's full of history and of course, this beauty. Still takes my breath away every day! Great work capturing a new perspective, I'm surprised you haven't been featured anywhere locally yet. Beautiful footage. Do you do certain locations by private request? I have an area in Madison county that is beautiful, but I'm trying to get a better idea of the trails and old roads, homesites etc. I've considered buying a drone, but one that is operable by a noob and takes high quality video is out of my proce range. I had considered hiring a pro/hobbyist to check out the area from above. Email at bonezcustomknives@gmail.com me if you might be interested! Or check me out on instagram and shoot me a dm @bonezcustoms I'd love to see more if these videos one way or the other!
Great video. I wonder where I may see the rest? I travel to Shelton laurel almost every weekend just to be in the area. You can literally feel this history in those mountains. I live about 5 mins from the rural heritage museum in Mars Hill, can the rest of this video be viewed there? Any further info is much appreciated. Jim Brown
Thanks for this documentary, well done. As many other people, I'm a direct descendant of people involved. My gg grandfather was in Mcelroy home guard, and was shot and killed by Joseph Shelton right after the war. Also had uncles, cousins in the 64th. Hope you can make more of these. Such a ugly time for everyone in the mountains. Thanks again!
why was the main focus point mars hill? it missed the best part of surrounding marshall, the bypass and walnut. good vid tho
Edward, I tried really hard to make it show the whole county. This video mostly shows the images from my first book "Madison County From Above" which includes several images from Marshall, Mars Hill, Hot Springs and other areas throughout the county. My new book "Madison County From Above, Volume 2" has about 27 additional images including Frozen Marshall, Redmon Dam, Barnard, Mountain Island, White Rock and more. Its available at ryanphillips.media Thank you for your interest Edward.
Good to hear somebody mention Walnut.
Great job, Ryan! We live in one of the most beautiful places, which you have so wonderfully captured here! Thanks for this :)
Beautiful, breath taking, and most important it is home. 1979 to 1991, 1996 to 1998, 2005 to 2006. The best place that I have ever lived. Would like to go back and do it again.
WOW HOW GORGEOUS THAT IS, MY BIRTHPLACE IN 1944 MADISON COUNTY... THANKS FOR POSTING THIS..
Miss Madison County so much. 💔💔💔
Me too.
Come home! ♡
