4L80e and B&M Shifter issues
Having problems getting my linkage hooked up on the 4L80E. For some reason I’m only able to go into 6 gears. It’s possible the tranny is in a bind from being on a hill and I might be able to rock the Stepvan or lift the rearend and rotate tires a bit. But the shifter cable bracket also doesn’t line up with the bolt holes on the tranny pan. I sent message to B&M to see wassup. I’ll post update when I get it figured out. From what I understand most people don’t have this problem doing this retrofit so must be a unique situation I’ve found myself in. Sorry for the narrow frame format. I caught that too late and didn’t have time to reshoot. If B&M can’t help me then I’ll make my own bracket, ...

First off, my gopro sucks! Sorry for the volume issues. Anyways, this is the last of the BEST/ SFIC vids I'm gonna do (for now). Pretty much covered most of the SFIC key making. • @odinslockllc
      @odinslockllc 4 дня назад

      @@vickygarner9479 I really wouldn’t know. Depends on what accessories and key blanks with it. It’s more about what someone is willing to pay. It’s a wonderful machine if it has everything but in pieces it may not be worth as much. You might check eBay and see what they’re being sold for. I personally would pay more than a hundred if it had everything but someone else might pay $300. It’s possible to cut by code and as a duplicator it’s easily adjustable for new or worn keys. The biggest issue I have with them is the clamping jaws. If those were more robust these would be worth so much more. A maintenance dept or apartment maintenance type place might be interested in it or a locksport person. Most locksmiths would already have this machine and no room for another that won’t get used as much. Clean it up and have it “ready to go” and you will get more for it.

      My original v8 engine had a wiped out cam so I put in a straight 6 that I had available until I got around to rebuilding the original engine. So with putting the original engine back in I opted to find a transmission that would get me better gas mileage especially at higher speeds as the stock tranny was geared for inner city driving back in the 60’-70’s. So with that I had to make a bunch of other modifications. Probably pretty boring to watch for a locksmith channel. I usually put these videos on my other channel which was just about my Stepvan but figured there’s a lot of people on this one that might like older work vehicles. Thanks for watching!

    These remind of the 1977 Commer/Dodge Walk-Thru vans that Royal Mail used to have in the 1980's. Oxford Diecast makes them in 1/76 scale for anyone that is interested. Although they used Renault engines. I wouldn't mind owning one of these with a Renault Magnum V8 engine as used in their trucks.

    Please don’t judge the Framon based on my experience. This video series with the PCH Punch, HPC 1200 and Framon was really about the complexities of cutting sfic or BEST type keys. It’s a little more complicated than cutting Schlage/ Kwikset as sfic blanks are usually harder material, sometimes don’t fit flat and can have 6 or 7 spaces and accuracy tolerances are tighter with the smaller pins. Right out of the box Framon will cut 7 pin but you gotta count out to the 7th. I almost stopped the video when it didn’t work on the first cut but thought it would be better to troubleshoot the issue on camera. The HPC1200 won’t cut 7 pin right out of the box (must buy the 7pin card) only 6pin card is in the set and the micrometer card may not be that easy to read the graduations with this tight a tolerance. Thanks for watching!

  • @LCLockout
    @LCLockout 4 месяца назад

    Thanks for sharing, hey off topic almost on topic question. When widening cuts with the framon I’ll take bites with it then drag it across in hope to reduce the strain on the blade. Good idea or waste of time? I’ll take a bite middle one to the left, one to the right and then slide across. For deeper cuts it definitely sounds like it’s making it strain less. Just curious your thoughts, technique should also work for the HPC.

    • @odinslockllc
      @odinslockllc 4 месяца назад

      Actually for the hpc1200 they recommend you start on one side of the cut then widen to the other side. Look at the short I just did, I’m gonna say follow the directions. I usually would go back and forth but according to the 1200 directions that wrong to do. If I were cutting nickel silver I’d definitely be more careful as it’s harder material. These cutters are more designed for straight infeed cutting but a little side cutting can’t be that bad, but idk. Look at the cutters on duplicators, they’re more designed for side cutting. Thanks for watching!

    I hear the Framon is a great machine, but as I watched you cut this key I'm just not sure it's a machine for me. Now I've gotten a bit of fun poked at me, but my go to machine is still the 1200. I tried a buddies Futura cutting keys from my previous 10 jobs for a sampling of it. And yes I took into account the 'new factor' of just using it for the first time...just wasn't a fan. So far, after trying a few machines, I think the next purchase will be a Triton+. I'm probbaly only buying one more machine and possibly one more duplicator in my lifetime...so I better damn well like it huh?!?!😅 I know you have a 1200 down the bench, any reason the Framon vs the nice little needles on the 1200?

    • @odinslockllc
      @odinslockllc 4 месяца назад

      Framon is a wonderful machine and will do more out of the box than the 1200. But there are some cool additions for the 1200 like the tubular cutter attachment etc. I think it’s personal preference what you’re comfortable with. My “go to” machine is my 1200. The Framon is just as fast when you’re used to using it which I’m not because I normally use my 1200. The Framon would be better if the depth feed had just the graduations I needed for a specific key. I’m probably gonna make something just for that. The Framon is more accurate as well. It’s kinda like with calipers, I prefer dial over digital as everytime you see the digital readout move it seems like it’s a lot but in a dial it looks as if it’s less. Probably purely psychological lol. Benefits to digital is inch to metric switch is push of a button. Thanks for watching!

    • @odinslockllc
      @odinslockllc 4 месяца назад

      I think it does but as you seen you really gotta pay attention to the changes with the starting cut. Personally a blue punch for A2 is the best way to go all around. You can still cut sfic keys either way on the old jaws just gotta shim it sometimes. Just remember that 7th space isn’t on the spacing block and you gotta use the dial at .150 for that last cut. Thanks for watching!
