Can you catch bass on NYMPHS??| Fly Fishing
Still can't believe I caught a smallmouth bass on a small ass stonefly nymph. Sometimes smaller flies pay off when the water is so low and clear, and the fish have been pressured by everyone and their momma.
Excited to start tying some nymph patterns and go inland trout fishing.
SETUP INFO:
Rod: 6wt Diamondback Ideal Nymph, 10 ft 10 in
Reel: Orvis Clearwater Large Arbor Reel, Size IV (7-9 WT)
Fly Line: 25lb Rio Slick shooter as the main line
Leader: 2-3 feet of 12lb colored mono in yellow (Stren Hi-Vis Gold) and red (Sufix Superior
Neon Fire) for the sighter material with a tippet ring at the end. Tippet attaches to the tippet ring, anywhere from 6-8lb fluorocarbon.
Flies: I tie my own flies!

NON STOP Lake Erie BASS ACTION | Fly Fishing

This was hands down my best day of fly fishing for smallmouth bass. Landed a total of 16 smallmouth. I originally thought it would be a struggle given that the water was so low and clear, but it might have helped me out in this situation. That or the bass were just super aggressive because they might have been spawning. Who knows, but I am not one to complain about a great day on the water. Thi...

Are these the BEST lures for BASS? | Fly Fishing

Awesome day of fly fishing for Smallmouth bass. I've only ever used 3 flies for smallmouth, and had some good success. I know as fly fishermen you can get caught up in a bunch of different fly patterns, but sometimes it pays off to keep it simple. I typically use marabou jigs in white and black, as well as an olive wooley bugger. As long as you are using marabou jigs or wooley buggers in any of...

I was targeting some smallmouth bass at the lower Niagara river in May, when I caught a surprise steelhead/Lake run rainbow trout. This one was definitely my personal best steelhead so far! Can you Euro Nymph for Smallmouth Bass? | Fly Fishing

I was out on a local creek, and tried to do some euro nymphing/tight lining with a little streamer for smallmouth bass. This is definitely not the most efficient way to catch smallmouth bass, but I fell in love with the technique and got onto a few solid smallies with it. White marabou jigs and Olive wooley buggers seemed to be the ticket today. Thank you for watching! SETUP INFO: Rod: 6wt Diam...

Started off the day trying to single hand spey cast for the first time using a 200 grain skagit head on a 10'10" 6WT rod. Got the hang of it within an hour, but I definitely need to perfect it. After getting that practice in with no luck, I moved to a different section of the creek and did a little bit of euro nymphing/tight lining. I got into multiple different species of fish, and one was sup...
The BEST nymphing rod for steelhead? | Fly Fishing
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.4 месяца назад
Today I was testing the 6wt Diamondback Ideal Nymph rod, doing a little tight lining/euro nymphing. It was a lot more sensitive than my redington path rod, and using a mono rig for the first time made me see that these rods are made for loading via the weight of the flies vs a traditional fly line. This rod can handle some seriously big fish, I landed 2 river redhorses in the 10-15 lb range. Al...

Fly fishing for steelhead on a snow day. Weather was warming up this day and the snow was melting. Little did I know the water was about to get blown out. Struggling to keep spring steelhead pinned... but I was lucky enough to land one. This was the first time I came to this section of the creek so I was doing a little exploring. Don't mess with Canadian Geese man... dude started hissing at me and chasing me. I learned later that around the early spring time is when these geese have their eggs hatching. During other times of the year they're usually chill! The day started out rough with a bunch of suckers, but it was redeemed at the end with a beautiful steelhead. Watch til the end to see it rocket out of the water! SET...

Bro post fishing shots you will get way more subs I did a challenge myself and got over 1000 subs in a month from car edits
You mean shorts? If so yeah I definitely need to get into shorts but I’ve just been so busy with my actual job 😅 any resources you recommend for learning editing/creating shorts?
@@SouthMend capcut got everything you need
Preciate it brotha I’ll take a look into it!
thats not a lure ... its a jig
Facts but lure sounds better for the title 😅
Dawg that deer is crazy hahaha
I’m sayin dude legit thought it was a rock
Do you think the 6wt nymph rod is best for fighting small mouths and casting heavier flies? heavier flies
I personally like the 6wt, it casts the flies that I use for smallmouth very well. That being said I know a lot of guys size up to an 8wt cause they throw even bigger flies than I do for smallmouth. Just depends on what you’re throwing I guess! 6wt makes for more fun fighting the fish than an 8wt for sure
@@SouthMend Thanks for reply. Your vids make it look more fun with the 6wt.
No problem man. Hell I’d use a 2wt if their mouths weren’t so hard to hookset into! Bass on the 6wt is a lot of fun
There was your chance to tie on a deer hair popper lol
Haha or make a clouser with the Bucktail! Still can’t believe I didn’t notice it. Wild
That’s crazy you caught them on those small stonefly nymphs!! Good work 👍
Thanks! I was definitely shocked they were willing to bite that
Awesome. Keep the vids coming!
Will do! Preciate the watch as always
Awesome video. What weight nymph rod?
Thanks man! Im using the 6wt diamondback ideal nymph rod, I love this rod. Appreciate you watching!
Dudddddde lemme eat. I’m tryna munch fr

@@SouthMend hehehe suckers are my favorite lol
What’s the brand of that centerpin reel??
It’s the Okuma Aventa reel, great entry level centerpin reel if you aren’t sure you’ll like centerpinning or not.
You know what they say about fly fisherman ..
Aw come on man don’t leave me hanging go ahead and say it!
Just ordered me the 11’ 6” light version, is that the 12 foot ML?
Yessir! You’ll have a real fun time using the light action version. I just wanted a little heavier cause I take it to the Niagara as well
@@SouthMend thanks! Good to know, I will eventually get the 12 footer too! Tight lines, just started watching your vids recently!
@edwardungott7328 yeah man they’re great rods, best bang for your buck in my opinion. Thank you for watching! Tight lines.
I finna make my thanksgiving memorable with Living Spaces gnome sayin??
Yardy know
16?? Wow, even with low and clear waters, you made it look easy catching all those smallmouth!
Thank you! I was really lucky, must have been at the right place at the right time
He's not a real bass fisherman lol. I'm 70 years old and fished Erie triibs all my life. He plays the little ones till they don't have strength to fight anymore.@SouthMend
@SCOTTGunsallus you’re not wrong, i dont have much bass fishing experience. It was my first time using 6lb test for bass so I wasn’t sure how much pressure I could put on the fish, but after having used 4lb I know now that I could have got them in a lot sooner. Thanks for watching
I love the look of that water clarity another certified banger
Thanks my brotha! Being able to see fish strike is always fun
What kind of rod you have?
The rod I’m using in this video is the 12 ft FishUSA Flagship rod, I love it for the centerpin. I’ve caught 15-20lb lake trout on it so it definitely has enough backbone for big fish, but catching smaller trout is still fun on it too. Thanks for watching!
@@SouthMendyeah just recently got my first centerpin (witch is the same as what you got) so I’m looking for something specifically for trout cause I already got a heap of salmon setups and want something mainly for trout but can handle the odd steelhead or coho if needed just don’t know what weight of rod to get 😅
@Contollerpg3d4Fun that’s what’s up, centerpinning is a lot of fun. If you’re mainly going to be fishing for small inland trout then you can go ultralight or light action for sure. If you want something that could handle steelhead and coho too, the lightest I would go is medium light, although that might make fighting smaller inland trout not as fun. Catching steelhead on light/ultra light action rods is not unheard of, but you end up fighting the fish for so long you might kill it. Hope this helps brotha. Tight lines!
Funny how catch and release loses it's satisfaction when the perceived value of a fish is lower.
Yeah man, to me a fish is a fish. It can get annoying if you’re targeting a different species but you can’t let it ruin your day!
great video as always
Thanks my man!
I agree with you, they seem fun to catch! justice for suckerfish
They definitely put up a decent fight!
Is this on the US side
