(it becomes an essay from here, read at your own discretion lol) 　I was listening to Ivy by Taylor Swift (because Evermore is just an amazing album and that song is *chef's kiss*) And it just--- reminded me of Lilia and his dynamic with Maleanor and Raverne-- "How's one to know? *I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bones* *In a faith-forgotten land* In from the snow *Your touch brought forth an incandescent glow* *Tarnished but so grand* " "Oh, goddamn *My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand* Taking mine, but it's been promised to another* *Oh, I can't* *Stop you putting roots in my dreamland* *My house of stone, your ivy grows* *And now I'm covered in you* I wish to know *The fatal flaw that makes you long to be Magnificently cursed* " So my interpretation takes the song kinda (very much) out of context but LOOK at these lyrics PLEASE 　tldr of Ivy; story of a married woman falling in love with a person who is not her husband, leading to an affair. EXCEPT Lilia is in the place of the married woman and it isn't really an affair because as we both know he loved both Meleanor and Raverne and I'm 99% sure it was mutual in all ways except officially. 　"I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bones. In a faith-forgotten land" Lilia (probably) being unable to visit Meleanor or Raverne's graves because they were likely buried in the capital (if buried at all, considering uh, Meleanor's corspe situation, but she would at least have a symbolic grave methinks)--where he is not allowed-- so he's accepted that he will only meet them again 'where the spirit meets the bone', or to put it bluntly, dead. 　"Your touch brought forth an incandescent glow. Tarnished but so grand" kinda speaks for itself. Their slightest touch filling him with strong emotions, but it is also tarnished, because he’s not married to them, and their relationship is forbidden (in his head, and probably legally too considering how that place is run but Meleanor would've dealt with it) 　"My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand. Taking mine, but it's been promised to another" I can see it interpreted as either Meleanor or Raverne or both--silently asking Lilia to trust them (with his pain, his love, his everything), and he's like "no, i promised to be your right hand general, not more--please i cant handle that heartache--" 　"Oh, I can't stop you putting roots in my dreamland. My house of stone, your ivy grows, and now I'm covered in you." 'i cant stop you putting roots in my dreamland' he probably dreamed of them just being... and he also probably had nightmares about the day he lost them because lets be honest that man is traumatized :((( and it also ties into book 7 with him (and everyone else) being stuck in Malleus's dream. 'my house of stone' could be his cottage in the woods, 'ivy' is often a metaphor for love in literature, and he's covered in it... once he realized that yes, he loves Meleanor and Raverne, and he's reminded of it everytime. (AUGH T_T). Also (copy pasted from Genius) 'house of stone could further the theme of death, being a coffin. Ivy also kills everything that it grows on. their 'affair' is passionate, it is also the thing that causes her death.' 　"The fatal flaw that makes you long to be Magnificently cursed" taken from Genius again; 'The illicit lover’s relationship with the narrator is referred to as a “magnificent curse” because while their affair makes both of them feel great, it is also a curse, because of the narrator’s betrothal to someone else and the challenges that presents in the affair. In the context of the song, the narrator is wondering what makes her lover want her despite the fact he can never fully be with her since she is married.' idk if you can see my vision but they make me so insane. if not, please disregard everything i rambled on about haha
