Being in the maintenance profession for most of my life, and constantly having to clean putrid dishwashers with foul odor, I would highly recommend rinsing dishes first. Up to you. It depends how much bacteria youre ok with living in your dishwasher.

A fire rated attic ladder is only necessary if you have hazardous materials in your attic per the IRC. For instance, a natural gas or propane gas heating unit, perhaps stored combustible products like paint… stuff like that. Each municipality requires a different rating, this means your city may require a 30 minute rating while others a 75 minute rating or more. Your contractor should know this. If not, go down to the city planning or Building Department and pick up their printed guidelines. If they do not have anything printed, and you talk to a building inspector, be sure you get their name, first and last, or better yet have them write down the information and than have THEM sign it. CYA baby… CYA. 😂🤣

The specific gravity of Carbon Monoxide is 0.9657 with normal air being 1.0 CO is ever so slightly lighter than air. However... LPG (Liquid propane) is heavier than air while Natural gas is lighter than air. If you have LPG place the alarm 6-12 inches above the floor. If you have natural gas place it 6-12 inches below the ceiling. CO will almost evenly fill the room as it has a similar gravity to air so putting it high or low wont have any impact on the alarm. However the gas alarm does require a high or low placement depending on the type of gas you are trying to detect. Also avoid placing the alarm in dead air zones such as on the ceiling or floor in a corner of a room. Keep at least 6 inches of space between the alarm and any floors, walls, or ceilings.

Thank you for this - we suddenly smelled a lot of propane coming from our stove two days ago and although someone from the gas company came to shut off the valve they couldn't find a leak. In the morning I still smell the faintest bit of gas but i can't tell if it's residual or if I'm freaking out :,) Opening all the windows and just got this device so I can have some piece of mind - I wasn't sure it was worth the price (now 70 bucks on amazon with delivery) so thank you for showing me that it is! I do have a passion for my house not exploding and not dying in my sleep hahahah

Thanks for walking through this! I guess separating the garage attic from the rest of the house would also work, but getting a properly rated ladder seems to be an easier and cheaper way 🫡

Hi, thanks for the video. If the soap needs something to attach to, then why do most dishwashers begin with a 15 minute pre-rinse cycle before they start the main cycle with the detergent? This seems to defeat the point of not pre-rinsing.

Yup that's the way to do it. I rent so I can not do that. So I have a coleman/propane generator and a solar powered generator. If no sun I use the coleman to charge the solar generator or use both during the busy times of the day. I use the solar one everyday for coffee, fridge, toaster oven and hot plate phones, laptops etc.. Might as well its free! Great video!

Thank you for explaining the reason that my outlets were all mounted upside-down. Two remarks: 1. The "plug" is the device with the (two or) three prongs which are inserted. The "outlet" or "receptacle" is the device which receives the plug. Please do not refer to the outlet as a "plug". 2. Despite the very good safety reason that you have explained so well, the fact remains that some plugs are designed for insertion the other way. Most plugs are designed "in-line" with the cord, so the orientation of the outlet doesn't matter. However, there are a few plugs (notably for refrigerators) which are designed at 90 degrees to the cord. And these plugs have the ground prong on the bottom, that is, toward the cord. I had to reverse the orientation of my refrigerator outlet so that the cord extends downward from the plug as it should.

Ole wise tails??? you mean "old wives tales" don't you? Also, a ground-up outlet is safe to connect in the dark by touch if necessary . Carefully avoid touching the hot and neutral, grasp the plug between thumb and middle finger, put the index finger at the top end of the ground pin and feel the ground opening in the outlet with tip of the finger, then insert plug. No danger of getting shocked.
