Awful music but video ok
Ah, what an amazing thing to see that at my old haunting ground! Cool!!
Lineside rubbish is a disgrace
Better than the 70s
These days it’s the overgrown vegetation that’s disgraceful. Sometimes it looks like you’re travelling on a garden railway!
Sadly, it seems to be the same almost everywhere you go these days. People just don’t care anymore. I fulminate when I walk through my hometown and often see young people, mainly, throw their empty plastic bottles and food wrappers on the pavement. I’m a very outspoken septuagenarian and gladly point out the error of their ways, usually to be rewarded with an invitation to “go away”. As for the video, I’m a lifelong steam fan, but I have to concede that the Westerns certainly had something.
Lovely diesel rail tour!!😊
Thank you for this time machine.
The era of love but even better PROPER trains!!!! Superb 👌
Woah....lots of smoke Can I use this video in my train compilation video credit to you in video will be given
Is that a 47 I hear
Genuinely amazing sequence, also showing how many longer passenger trains ran and even a peep at a class 24. The 47 were busy and the 37s were still freight only. About 1975-78? Thanks
Das ist Musik, das ist Bumms, Daumen Hoch (:0)
Great footage and a perfect soundtrack!
Great footage, especially of my home depot Landore, trying to work out where the bulk was shot I'm thinking by the Briton Ferry bridge by the looks of it. No clapped out DMUs though? or the Triple 37s that went down the Felin Fran line and made a hell of a noise from what I can remember.
How lovely to see the saviour of Britain's rail network between 6.26 and 6.50.
What moron thinks Herb Alpert music is compatible with any railway film?
Thanks for your comment. Hope you feel better now
You could always do what I did - muted the sound
Does it really matter. Just wanted to share the footage, that's all.
Hellfire !!
Amazing clagging party. Thumbs up! :)
1:27 GUNTRIP!!!
Detest BR blue and grey (Blue Pullmans looked good though). We had all sorts of wonderful colours and then it went virtually monochrome with that livery.
That was the problem, we had all sorts of colours. Modernisation meant standardisation. In 2023 the railways are a mess of colours.
@@dannycarter1966 'A mess of colours', and virtually every one better than the dreary BR blue and grey 🤢🤮
@@kristinajendesen7111 depends what you grew up with.
@@dannycarter1966 BR Blue & Grey, that's why I hated it
@@kristinajendesen7111 well, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion. I saw a Pendolino recently in rainbow colours, presumably supporting gender fluidness. That was the final straw.
Nice film from the roof of the hut at Toton....
Sounded nearly as good as shopping !!
One lovely shot....of western power...
Sounding good the class 40 has just turned up
Superb
Bings back memories drove western courier last year what an experience cheers Kevin
+kevintregunna Thanks for the subscription. Love your layout. Won a cab ride in Courier in 1993. Want to do the drivers experience course asap.
great video I was out on the footbridge at long rock filming and thanks very much for your sub to Penwithers cheers Kevin
+kevintregunna I'm a Western fan. Drove from Cornwall early hours to catch that trip from Birmingham and back for the day, just awesome. I'm 52 years old and spent most of that day hanging out the window soaking up the atmosphere and the wonderful memories. Regards
Fantastic my friend i wish i had a cine camera then i was 11 in 1976 and an avid train spotter all the dmu's The diesel loco's 31's 37's 47's Emu classes 305 308 306 501's 3rd rail that would've been great to have on film then Brilliant mems!!!!!
MRI scans show which part of the brain activates with different stimuli. Wonder which area would show up if clagging were shown to an enthusiast whilst in the scanner and what function that area has ? Sounds strange ? it could be done.
CLAG MY LORZ!
Nice one! Great post!!
Can you change the music as this is causing it to be blocked.
LintonVC I agree it’s a bit of a shocker!
Great video, cheers Stu @ Lime Junction
Hi there. Can remember it quite clearly, even though it was 40 years ago and I was aged about 11. Thought it might be quite unique footage. Its great that modern technology has permitted me to be able to share it. Remember being shocked at what appeared to be very modern in my eyes being scrapped in such an undignified way. The scene way I believe 2 of the 8 car sets. The footage was taken weeks or months after they first arrived at the scrap site. There is much more to tell. No space left.Sorry
Amazing footage thanks. First time I've seen footage of the scrapping of a Blue Pullman. Do you remember much about that part of filming?
It doesn't have to cost a lot. It could just be a greenhouse fan heater pointed at each air intake.
my lordz hell fire!!!
I'm surprised preservationists have not devised any form of engine pre-heater for their diesel locos. It would save a lot of wear and tear on the battery. It could either be an air pre-heater or a coolant pre-heater and it could be powered by mains electricity or by propane gas. Have a think about it.
Sounds like tuned dragster and i love it :-)
I enjoyed this stop too because it's where I climbed into the cab for the ride to Buxton.... fantastic stuff! What a great machine, and hope she's back with us again soon!
@Mr1056Sultan wow that is pretty impressive! My friend goes on the gala quite often i think, she is the one wearing red. :D
@CarlisleCullenCutie i just like diesels from the 1970s as you can see from the rest of my videos. I have a part ownership in 50 042.
someone I know was on that train, they are in the video too, a diesel gala? what do you do????
@bmxcallum so it is haha u cant help but get the spotlight lol
the reason it took so many attemps is because on of the brushes from the traction motor had come loose and fell into the bottom of it and was causing sparks, so after an attept to see if it was still sparking, they turned it off and on as such, i was there inside seeing it all :)
hahaaa, thats me walking past at o:41 hahaa
@thepofmeister Thanks mate that is the bit that is so personal to myself.
@Mr1056Sultan and the fact on the way to penzance coach B(my coach)was FREEZING!the heater broke
