Titanium Brompton with Disc Brakes and Schlumpf Drive
Просмотров 47 тыс.2 года назад
Here is a custom made Titanium Brompton clone. I fitted it with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and a Schlumpf drive mated to a 2 speed Sturmey Archer 2 speed kick shift hub. Specs: - Titanium Brompton mainframe, fork (disc compatible and 100mm spacing), titanium rear triangle (disc compatible and 135 spacing), titanium stem - Custom wheels with Dyad rims, Sturmey Archer S2K rear hub and DT Swiss...
It's the perfect bike. Although it is simple, it has good running performance due to the interior design.
Can I ask how thick the mattress is? I’m exactly your height and would love to fit underneath
5"
Thanks so much for your response! Is your floor insulated as well?
@@darcyjohnson957yes, I used Minicell foam.
Hello, what saddle is it ?
I know you bed is a queen but what size happijac did you go with? Queen or standard? I read that you could still get a queen bed with a standard happijac.
Queen
Do you have any issues with getting the incinerating toilet getting wet from taking a shower?
300 Ah is enough to support the incinerator?
It's propane
@@justin-lewis Is it the Cinderella Travel? What size propane tank do you have? How long does it last with the toilet? I realize you have the stove too.
Is this a Titanium frame from Tistar Store?
Ti Atom on eBay
can you share link to purchase that shower end

Do you recommend electric or propane powered incinerating toilets for off grid campers? And why?
Having a battery bank to support the power requirements of an electric incinerating toilet is pretty cost prohibitive. This is why I opted for the propane variant.
@justin-lewis understandable. That was my conclusion too unless you had some super electrical system
Speed drive works great if you have an electric motor. Want to climb hills and search for camping spots get mtn drive.
i have heard that the incinerating toilets take a lot of power. with 300 Ah, how much batter power does it take to run the incinerating process?
The incinerator runs on propane.
I love this... I want this in a 148 smaller length. What is the dimensions of your shower/bathroom
This is a 148. I believe it was 24x40.
Did you have any issues with the very high torque required to fit the schlumpf drive or since you have been using it - eg any twisting of frame or cranks? thanks.
None
is this a 144? with a cinderella and a happijac???
It is a 148 but yes, this is a shorter wheelbase van.
@@justin-lewis thank you, been wondering if this was possible. how are you liking the cinderella?
@@lanvinpierre it worked well when I was using it. It wasn’t the most efficient thing for urine I would say, but other than that, it was perfect.
Is this the 42 or 63inch happijac?
67"
A year later, how to you like the Schlumpf Drive? Would you rather have a normal Chainring drive?
Oh I don’t keep the bikes I build. This one was sold not long after I posted this video.
@@justin-lewis Oh, I see. I'm looking for a Mini Velo. Any recommendations? I was thinking Moulton Double Pylon, Leggero T7C (Brompton Ti clone), or Stijn Cycles.
I was told by Cinderella toilets that they are not designed to function in a wet bath, it has been designed to handle water drips and splashes. Continuous water and moisture would affect the display and computerized parts. How do you avoid this? Great design and build
I also spoke to Cinderella, they also told me that their product is not designed for a wet bath although it is water resistant. I ended up adding extra sealant around any area water could ingress. I never had any issues.
Such a nice van! I wonder if the toilet heats up the van while incinereting? I mean could it be a problem on hot summer days? And how long does the incineration take? Thanks..
The seat does not warm up, even when incinerating. Our experience was a cycle took somewhere between 1 hour to 1.5 hours.
@@justin-lewisdoes it smell awful when flushing?
an almost perfect van. i applaud the incinerator toilet choice and i think more vans should utilize it. my only critique is that I wish the builder incorporated the pop top roof bed so there's more separation between living quarter and sleeping quarter
Not very stealthy.
Did you have issues with having the batteries and water tank weight on the same side?
The cabinetry is pretty heavy and the batteries really don't actually weigh much. The water does, and I would imagine when the tank is full the van is a bit unbalanced, but it was never an issue for us.
where is the garage space?
This design and van length did not allow for a garage unfortunately.
Nice build but I’m bothered by the cheap hook on pantry door. You could do better than that.
That was a last minute addition we added while traveling. We originally only had the magnetic closures but when we had heavy objects in the pantry the door would sometimes fly open round corners. I agree a more elegant solutions would have been preferable.
I've been riding this bike for about a month ruclips.net/user/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
How much did it cost?
I have a similar looking bike as yours
What make is the ac unit thank you
Zerobreeze
If you had a thinner mattress, could the bed go higher? Trying to understand the limiting factor in height
Yes you could. We wanted to balance comfort and headroom so opted for a 5inch mattress.
Wow, a real bed
What type of disc brakes you use?
TRP Spyre
Thanks for your video, very beautiful bike. May I ask you which company produces these titanium parts? Are they from China?
Most parts were made by "Ti Atom" in China
I got a stem from there. Do you think they are safe? I hear a lot of criticism of chinese bike parts.
Can't hear
Did you have any issues with the Cinderella toilet at any elevation?
None
Audio is awful.. Can't hear hardly anything...
what are those speakers?

No digital entertainment at all?
We used our computers to watch movies and such but honestly we were often outside doing stuff in our free time.
That's an incredible investment: I would, also, get an incinerator toilet if I were to get a van. How wonderful not to have to empty excrement or urine tanks. I, also, love your bed lift. Great way of saving space and the cedar wood paneling is a nice touch. The only thing that is missing is a TV. I don't know how you could fit on in there, but I think a TV would make it a complete home.
Weight?
21.5lbs
Hello there, Can you make a video on how you installed the Incinerator Toilet and how often do you restock the propane tank. thank you
I no longer have the van, sorry!
Id sacrifice some bench space for a u shaped lounge... better for dinning/lounging and fit the hob flush with the bench... otherwise it's perfect!!.❤️🇺🇲🇺🇦
How to waste money on a already overpriced bike with crap components.
Functional, but depressing and totally lacking in style or character 🤷🏻♂️
Nice add on I like the new brakes/ gearing😊
How much
I no longer have the van, sorry!
when they put telescopic handlebar on it? what conservative design... wait.. what? since when Brompton have disk brakes??
Lovely looking interior... Semi adequate kitchen supply and food storage....But not my favorite because there's really not enough storage for clothes, recreation items, pet.needs, even an online business needs equipment and supplies. The elevator is cool but sacrifices the space needed for all.of the above. There really should be at keast one window in a side which would be nice to look out even when the bed is down, and ventilation on rainy days. The quality is there but the esthetics have over ruled the practical. Will look for your other builds.
Muy bien pensada..sorry no hablo ingles😮
Does the toilet have to do the incineration process after each use or can it accumulate uses during the day and be run once at night, for example?
No, you can flush and incinerate everything or let it "mellow" to flush later.
hi, congrats i like this, van layout. just the stowage, I didn't notice. saluti salvo
Overall a beautiful build, especially the toilet. 2 things I would have loved is 1) A sofa bed, that is, that sofa right there being converted into a bed at night and sofa by day. I do not like the idea of a lift bed in cases of emergencies. 2) An entertainment area like a tv on that wall above the kitchen would have been a huge plus. Sitting on the sofa and enjoying a meal while staring at an empty wall wouldn't be ideal.
Beautiful build! What model 12v water heater is that?
ausj.com.au/products/aqueous-water-heater-6l-12v
Incinerating toilets are the only way I could do van life. The downside is that they are expensive. You said the van was totally electric except for the stove top and the toilet. How is an incinerating toilet not electric? A propane toilet, nice.
The electric version of the Cinderella toilet is 220V, 2000W for incineration. It needs three times more Lithium battery, 4000W of inverter, and a second alternator under the hood to charge the battery. Also, the inverter needs to be on all the time. I saw a custom rig that had the electric Cinderella toilet.
