I had a retron 3(it broke so I got rid of it). I hope the retron 5 is better in terms of build quality and emulation. I will say that the 3 was a really great option for playing physical carts without having to hook up multiple consoles.

I love that I’ve gotten to see the evolution of video games from my first system in the early 80’s (Atari) to the PS5 and Xbox X/S. I retro game as well but most of those games that I played as a kid I play now and say are god awful but I play mostly cause they bring me back to my childhood. I’ve been playing a lot more independent games lately.

I got the super retron 3 plus has all the og controller ports.

I will confess I am more in the middle, even thought I enjoy retro games more, but there are modern games I do love that I wish where made on previous consoles but I am still glad they got made on modern consoles like Sonic Superstars, TMNT Shreeders Revenge,Streets of Rage 4, Final Vendetta, Mayham Brawler, and Digimon Cyber Sleuth I amor as a modern gamer.

That copy was originally bundled with a Genesis. Sega didn't want retailers to split the bundle and sell everything at full price.

I don't think either is better than the other. Modern games are usually very easy and even if they are not they throw you back in so quick you probably don't have time to think about how you died due to the generous check points/save points and auto saves. It's super convenient. Also it's nice to just sit back and enjoy a lot of the pretty graphics it really is getting closer to like playing a movie. However usually trying to play them is also an investment of sorts. You gotta wait 20 minutes to install/update it, then you gotta sit through a usually 15-20 minutes of cutscenes and long tutorials. And have to learn a bunch of different systems before you start. Retro usually unless it's an RPG title is pop it in, and start playing immediately, usually doesn't have complicated systems that you need to drill into your head. It's go from the start and usually very simple to understand. And of course retro is usually complete experiences that you don't have to pay for DLC, or special cosmetics/weapons, they are usually unlockables.

I am still on my ps3, I had a ps4 but I sold it when the pro was announced, consoles should not have different tiers in the same generation, might as well get a computer instead, ps5 pro just proved it. Up until last month I could still play bf3 online free, best console generation was ps3 by far. Gaming sucks now, with the occasional good game once in a while.

You got some Activision games, so I would say that's a big win. River Raid is pretty cool and most of the games that I enjoy on Atari are Activision games. Can't tell what some of the games are, but if you across HERO, it's my favorite Atari game of the ones I've played.

I'm more of an indie guy when it comes to modern games. I agree with you in a lot of ways, but AAA gaming has a lot of things that I don't like. Games are sometimes released broken and players are expected to be happy when a developer finally fixes their game. When gamers complain about a broken game or a game doesn't sell as much as expected, developers blame the customers. $70 isn't enough because on top of that, they try to nickel and dime you with micro transactions. These games are making record profits, but every year we hear stories about how Microsoft or Activision fires 1000 employees. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth and makes me appreciate when a small team can release a good game on a limited budget. Right now I've been playing more retro games. I like to go back and play games that I missed out on when I was younger. It's pretty cool to see how games changed over the years and which games shaped the game industry into what it is today.

When i play retro these days its mainly old racing games a couple story games on ps2 but i recently picked up ps4 after not playing xbox one in 5 years ( xbox screwed me over) and ive been enjoying days gone it reminds me of mgsv combat its pretty good for a new game.

Imagine Likeing the Silent Hill 2 Remake in 2024. Give it a Year of Patches and it will be Great. Like GTA San Andreas PS 5 but it needed 4 Years of Patches.

My pick for favorite PS5 game is a toss up between Spider-Man 2 and Hogwarts Legacy. I 100% completed Spider-Man 2 the first week it came out and I poured hundreds of hours into Hogwarts Legacy

I own the ps1-3 never had a 4 but I'm tempted to pick up a ps5 to play that catalog of ps4 games and some of the ps5, my favorite Playstation franchises have to be Twisted metal (they need to make another one and revive that entire genre) or the original God Of War trilogy, just can't beat how those games make you feel.
