Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create stunning white and Prussian blue images. It was discovered in 1842, used for documents, photographs and plans (hence "Blueprint"). Jacquard have now produced a Cyanotype Kit. Here we can see Sharon demonstra...

Hi Sharon, I have just come across your beautiful painting tutorial. Do you stretch your watercolour paper as you use quite a lot of water? Thank you for sharing your lovely in-depth tutorial.
@@miriamsargent3428 hello! Nice to hear from you. No, I don’t stretch, but I do stick my paper down. Go all the way around with a good quality gummed tape. It means you have to cut your picture out with a scalpel, but it won’t cockle that way. Thanks for watching. 😀
What you say about black is wrong, blue was the most expensive dye
@@maryana9987 I thought blue was the most expensive paint. They used lapis lazuli and it was more expensive than gold. So this is why the Madonna wears a blue cloak. It was the greatest gift that they could give her in their illustrations. I picked up the black information from the historians when visiting medieval houses. I will have to look it up again. Thanks for your feedback, always happy to learn. 🙂

Your golden ghost lady had a lover who was a poet and wrote of her beauty. She was looking in the mirror trying to see what he praised for the poor lady had never been spoken fair. Her father never praised her or anyone else bit her elder brother who could do no wrong. So the lady thought poorly of herself, until the poet fell in love with her,. The lady took ill that morning with the sweating sickness and \. perished by sunset never to see her lover again. Her spirit is trapped in a loop gazing into the mirror and pining for her lover, Just a guess. Thnk yu for sharing your dollhouse and the wonderful dolls that live there.

You must be thrilled for the magazine article. Love your paintings. Do you stretch tiny canvases to paint on or use canvas on board cut down to do them,? Hope you do not mind me asking I just got back into miniatures. Mom and I used to make Barbie furniture from cereal boxes and round oatmeal boxes. Not really scale but pretty, fun and a happy memory.
@@barbarakaywhite5166 I too used to make Barbie clothes and sold them at craft fairs. I loved dress making on a small scale. For my small paintings I just use small pieces of mountcard and use acrylic paint.

Simply stunning thank you 😊 do you know how to determine scale of a house please? Your music room I would leave exactly as it is.. Loved it all thank you x btw am often on Etsy so will look .
Hello! So glad you liked it. My dolls house is one twelfth scale. So basically one in for every foot. If I were making a man doll, if here were 6’ tall, I would make him 6” tall. Everything gets smaller when you work in one 36th or one 48th…you need a magnifying glass. My Stump House and Wizards Tower (also on my RUclips channel) are probably 1: 36th. 😁
I loved that Stewart Series! Watching Merlin nature.

Are u such a great teacher, just a natural I could listen to u talk for hours! And I’m obsessed with your weepy skies technique. Do u think this would work with thin down or fluid acrylic? Also can this be achieved on canvas? Raw canvas?
Hello! Thanks for your kind comments! I know this technique will work with acrylic on a smooth paper or mixed media board. I haven’t tried it on canvas and I’m not sure how the water and paint would flow on a fabric warp and weft. However, well worth a try because you could land up with something quite different and interesting. Let me know how you get on! S xxxxx

What is in the small white pot you use when your applying the masking fluid? It looks lije a paste of somekind. Is the pot of blue, just paint or blue tinted masking fluid.
Hello. The white thing is a small bar of soap. I wet the brush then coat it with soap so that it is protected when I dip it into the masking fluid. The mask itself is blue tinted so that you can see it when you are using it. I have a separate video on masking fluid that you might find useful that describes these techniques properly. 🙂 ruclips.net/video/j991yqcnZhU/видео.htmlsi=dlkKZV8PvjF28ArT
What type of tape do you use for the border? All those I have tried take the surface off the paper.
Hello. If I am not going to be using a great quantity of water I use masking tape. If you find that it is tearing your paper, there is a trick before you stick it down. Having torn your length off the roll, simply stick it to your skirt or trousers once or twice and the lint from your clothes lessens the tacky glue. Then stick it on your paper. However, if I have a wet piece of work coming up where the paper will probably cockle, I used brown gummed tape. Once this is on your work, that is it! You can’t get it off and I use a long ruler and a scalpel to cut the painting out. So if you are painting to size, always remember and allow for the losses each side for the tape. Hope that helps. S x
