The cheapest way to do the bags for your vacuum sealer is to buy the bags that are in rolls. That way you can cut the bags to the size that you need.
I have a seal-a-meal vacuum sealer and I wouldn't give it up for anything. I've had one for over 20 years. I got my daughter one about 7 years ago. I'm 71 years old and live alone. I buy in bulk and break everything down into packages that I'll use I don't just buy meat in bulk, I buy many things in bulk. Now, I even have my daughter buying in bulk and breaking things in packages for her family of 4.
My Foodsaver saves me time and money in long run!
@@corvettesbme I’m so excited to use it more! My husband hunts occasionally and I think it will come in so handy for that!
So cute!
I have been thinking about the food saver myself because of freezer burn on meats particularly. Thanks for demonstrating yours, I may just have to try one myself 🙂 . Lately I’ve been trying to do better about keeping an inventory of pantry, freezers and refrigerators so as not to buy duplicates. Its still a work in progress 😚 1:31
@@cindypatrick785 honestly it was so much easier to use than I thought it would be and it was so quick too! And I’m excited the food won’t freezer burn. I tried to keep an inventory list of our deep freezer so ingredients don’t just go there to die and it helps so much, I’m just bad at updating it!
Great video! Practical and doable. I love it!
Very wise and practical!😊
Subscriber #1,000. 🙂
Omg thank you 🎉🤗
Such good ideas… ❤ merry Christmas! I agree about organising things on a shelf like that ! I might think about doing the same 😊
I love hearing your best money saving tips! Please share them in the comment section so we can all have a more frugal 2025!
Not really saving on grocheries but food: over the next few weeks till my wedding I am begining to stock up not only some staples (starting with a 100% empty pantry) but also frozen versions of the meals we eat out most often. Orange chicken and rice costs $4 for both of us vs $20 at Panda. Goal is eventually have a fully stocked pantry we could eat out of for a month (or longer), but the baby step of dramatically reducing our eating out is something I am very much looking forward to.
@@ciannacoleman5125 that’s where my husband and I struggled the most too was going out to eat often and wasting the food we had in our house. You are right though, this video was more about reducing food waste and being smart with what you do have instead of getting food cheaper at the store. So many saving tips are store specific and I was hoping to make a video that focused on concepts everyone could benefit from implementing. Congrats on your upcoming wedding 💕
Great tips, thanks 😊
We just stock up when things go on sale that we are running low on. After awhile, you know what your family eats. If you keep different kinds on meat (vacuumed sealed) on sale at a good price, and tomato base for soups, spupnboullion flavoring, chopped and frozen peppers, onions, blanched potatoes, mushrooms, celery, pasta, & chili, tacos, pasta, canned goods, you are good to go. We don't menu plan. We get most items on sale at a low price. We save more by just buying on sale instead of meal planning. That way it is all on sale. Everyone has to do what works best for them. Merry Christmas everyone! Jesus is the reason for the season. He loves ya.🎁
@@rg-mi5hh I love this concept too! Those ingredients are so versatile and you can make so many different meals!
If you flatten that hamburger ,it’s easier to store.
@@Marie-h1f I tried to flatten most of them but then my baby woke up 😅 but yes agreed and also easier to thaw
Babies come first 😃👍
Thank you for tips to chop meat and vegies freeze unfreeze pasta rice beans
@@kerryjames6312 chopping everything and freezing it as the ingredient has made cooking so much faster and more enjoyable. It is especially helpful come harvest season-my favorite is to chop peppers small to throw in. They freeze so well
Glad I found your channel when you choose raw vegies do you just wash chop freeze
Yes! I always wash them first and then it kind of depends on the vegetable but I dice peppers, onions, garlic, ginger, carrots, and then throw those in the freezer. Spinach and tomatoes I wash and then I just stuff in a bag. And beans you should blanch them prior to freezing.
Thanks for the advice!
I disagree on the no coupons. That to me is the only way to get great prices on meat, which we all know is the most expensive thing in your cart. I keep really good track of my groceries by month and dating all the way back to 2019. My yearly amount spent has hardly changed (thank goodness) I don't shop Walmart unless i absolutely have to as there really are no great deals there (except for the 25¢ a lb. roma tomatoes a month ago and I purchased 60 pounds and canned them) ex;. a rack of ribs at Safeway/Albertsons are about $18 full price but when they go on sale WITH a digital coupon I spend anywhere from $5-$6 dollars per package. We just had company for dinner and I fed 7 adults 2 racks of ribs that cost me $11. Throw in 2 potato salads and baked beans all from scratch and I spent around $20 total and we have left overs. Loss Leaders and digital coupons are pretty much the only way i shop these days. My December total spent for groceries was 90.84 and that is the month we really socialize and feed a lot of people but I can do it because my freezers and pantries are full. My total for 2024 for JUST food was 4309.55 averaging 359.12 a month. I only had 2 high spending months as those are the months I bulk buy my 50lbs each of flour, sugar and oatmeal. The last few months Safeway/Albertsons and a few other stores offer chicken at 99¢ a lb. Chicken breast was a limit of 10lbs. I make sure I use those digital coupons to fill my freezers with meat. Walmart cannot beat the meat prices from other grocery stores. I completely agree with you on making sure you know what you have in your house that you can cook with, it helps so much. I have been expanding my garden a little every year and I make all our bread from scratch because I can make just enough to feed us and not waste half or a quarter package that spoils.
start growing veg and bottle
@eileenspamer-kw3kz yes! Can’t wait to grow more this next year. I canned salsa verde, raspberry jam and diced tomatoes this year!
Now I am thinking I want to sew her a dress every year ❤
I had no issue hearing you. Thanks for the tips!

Those are adorable!!!❤
Is it…edible?
@@SnappingturtleMcGee I mean technically it’s edible but it’s going to taste like salt. But great option for kids because it is taste safe!
@ hmmm, interesting
These are so cute! Excited to see what you make for the pockets! 😂
is it also possible the leaf mulch would also helps harmful bugs overwinter that you end up with pest insects for your vegetables? thanks
@@lindalyc that’s a great question. I think a lot of beetles and grubs overwinter in the soil so they would overwinter regardless whereas I think ladybugs overwinter in leaf litter. I’m sure it’s promoting a bit of both but I think regardless the pests would overwinter so making sure you also have beneficial bugs come spring would at least even the score a little, if that makes sense.
I don’t clean out my flower beds except my pampas grasses and peonies. Those make a huge mess, lol. I leave all the stems because many pollinators go into the stems and woody stalks to overwinter. Then in spring I’ll clean them up after they emerge, usually once frost danger is over.
@@kellyguarano8864 that’s a great idea! I don’t clean out my flower beds until spring but I guess it’s usually more perennials.
He’s going to love it!
Well there will be One Splinter he better get.
@@ShatoraDragondore no worries, he is tucked away. The action figures he already has are discontinued so we had to pay double for splinter but we HAD to have him obviously 😂
You go mom! 👍❤. I used to make "playsets" for my kids. So much fun and better than the plastic stuff. (Cheaper too)
@@katberinger2049 thank you ☺️ oh I bet they loved that. My dad has so many wood working tools that it just makes sense to take advantage and make toys myself.
