Hi… thank you so much for your tour! I live south of Houston so I pay careful attention to what you say. I recently went to my nearest u-pick flower field at Froburg’s so much more fun than I thought it would be… they had zinnias and sunflowers… in my perfect world that I don’t live in… I would grow most of my flowers for picking… Thank you so much for sharing your experiences😃 Where do you order the pro cut series… the sunflowers that I picked at Froberg’s have lots of pollen 😮
Pretty!
@@WhereverIMayRoamWasTaken I agree!
Holy crap $20-30 bouquets??? Whoa! That’s insane! I would never…flowers die and it’s like just throwing away money for a couple days of pleasure! Hahaha nope!
Will climbing roses burn if they grow on metal gazebos or trellis in places where it goes up to 105+ degrees Fahrenheit?
Have you ever been to the Kingwood Farmers market?
Does the peach passion drop pollen? Or are they pollen less like Procut?
I completely understand the problem. In Denmark I have the same problem with the tiny "extra" that here the markets are no real "farmers" markets. All the other flower vendors on the markets nearby, buy their flowers from some wholesalers from the netherlands and customers just are glad to get some cheap flowers. Most of them are not interested in local grown or organic flowers, it just has to be very cheap. Its really sad 😢
Try to put mixed colors Maybe work ?😊❤🙏
Hope you try again … wonder if only had the flowers 💐 if it would have made a difference…? What was the set up outside? Bouquets were beautiful!
Go to the market before you invest your time. Small markets just don't have the foot traffic. My own experience small towns don't have the foot traffic needed to make the sales and festivals and events haven't worked for me either. Live and learn.
Love the teepee aesthetic too. So natural, historic and satisfying to the eye.

When can you plant the propagated mums (in the fall) into pots so that it’ll grow and bloom in time for the following fall?
@rkmangoba6064 so I propagate in the spring once they start putting on new growth, and grow them for 8-10 weeks, then plant and grow as is til fall!
@@summerskyegardensthanks for the reply! Would it be possible to propagate cuttings now, keep it indoors during winter then plant in the spring?
Awesome video thank you.May i know the name of the flowers that look like tiny balls that u showed at 13:14 pls?

The term cut back to new growth is the most confusing statement ever.
When would you say it’s the best Time to plant them here in Texas? Late November or early December? I’m still quite new at growing them but I seem to get really short stems unfortunately .
@barbaradelgadogutierrez4988 yes Nov or Dec is best. Maybe early Jan but that's even pushing it. Short stems are usually due to variety, not enough water, or temps warming up too quickly
Love it.
Awesome seed haul! 🌱 Thanks for the planting tips-super helpful!

I Liked the dahlias better. The zinnias were blah
@juliepuhr9806 Yes I can't grow the dalias where I live, so can't speak to that, but the pictures I've seen from everyone look great!
I agree - the flowers are wonderful and it's lovely not to have just hot "Crayola" colors. I did get a good mix of fluffies, ombres, and two-tones.
Hi just watched the video of you starting your flower farm. Do you have pictures of it now with the beds planting and producing? Also when did you add the amendments from TC, after you tilled 3x's? then till them in? Then did you put the ground cloth down? Thanks
@@riversedgeforestplay7635 SO I ended up moving it and have it replanted in a new area. I share pics and videos on my IG @summerskyegardens. The new field I tilled twice (you could do 3x, depending on time), then spread the amendments, then lightly/superficially tilled them in, then laid down cloth.
Thank you!!!
Very pretty and excellent music choice! What pumpkin variety did you use?
@@floweringevergreen3584 These are fakes! Last for years :)
I grew the Precious Metals and Alpen Glow from Floret. I had excellent germination, the plants are healthy and the blooms are quite pretty, but now I know that I prefer a little more color. The bees, butterflies and hummingbirds do too. 😂
@@RedneckHillbillies Understandable!
Thanks for the tips! Question , have you ever tried to overwinter your status and straw flowers and get a second year of bloom? My statice straw flower and scabiosa lived to bloom a second year. Is this an anomaly? I asked because i'm counting on it this year and I hope i'm not being silly.
@@Growing_Z_Farm I think it's possible, but I haven't for 2 reasons: 1) I need the space for other flowers and 2) mine get disease with our summer heat and humidity so I rip them out. Personally I would never count on them, but if you want to leave them and use them as a bonus, then why not.
Oooh yay! I put my bulbs in the fridge a week ago! Zone 9b 😊
@@Growing_Z_Farm You're ahead of the game!
You mentioned that you had to take in your tulips when it got too warm…. What was that temperature?
@hollyjones9264 we'll get temps that creep into the 60s/70s here and there come Feb, so when that starts to happen I move them to the shade. They are most happy in the 40s/50s
Thanks for this awesome info! Do you put any newspaper down in the crate before adding the soil? Also which kind of promix do you like to use?
@@laurenculbreth9994 I don't! I did the first time and afterward didn't and didn't see a difference! I use the yellow bag, Promix Garden mix
@@summerskyegardens thank you for the tips! Appreciate this so much. Will keep you updated on how it goes for me :)
Thank you for great info!! I’ve never grown tulips in quantities before, this is just what I needed to hear!
@@clairehenning2710 happy to hear it!
Great information! A couple of years ago I had great success with one variety of tulip (out of 10) but lots of daffodils, so the following year I did more daffodils... none of them bloomed 😬looking back I think I put them in way too late... but you have made me really want to try both again and change up how I do it. I'm just starting out on my growing for profit journey, and I'm working to be more nursery and sell cut flowers on the side along with my seed grown/cuttings plant options and live a few cities away from you. I highly value all you teach and share!! Thank you!
@tinamiller6269 Glad it helped, thanks so much! Good luck!
I'm in SoCal Zone 9b/10a. Thanksgiving seems to be the time to get cool flowers planted. I vacillate on whether to attempt tulips. ROI is low and The Tulip Workshop/forcing worsens that ROI. I'm going to try ranunculus in crates this year. If that goes well, maybe I'll try tulips in a year or two.
@floweringevergreen3584 Thanksgiving is when I plant my other bulbs and corms for sure, and I've definitely done some tulips by then. With all of these you definitely have to weigh the ROI vs your costs to make sure it's profitable. I tried ranunculus in crates and they hated it, but let me know if you have success!
Hey Dani, where do you buy the eco wrap? Thanks! Love your videos!
Thank you! So I use Eco Fresh Bouquet, but I saw their manufacturer suffered a fire, so they are out of inventory at the moment. I would look up compostable dog poop bags and use those!
