You can buy basically the same thing for about a quarter of the price from Johnnys
@PatsyJennings-y8c not exactly although Johnnys does have great varieties. But once again the high price is to help fund their breeding program, which I'm happy to do every so often
It would really help if ou mentioned your location and zone

Please, please share your heat-loving, or heat-surviving dahlia list
@btomlinson2037 Wish I could say that I have a list! Overall I'm not impressed with how most dahlias habe done in my hot climate so I've stopped growing them
Thank you! Great information!
@@kwalking7 thank you for watching!
Great video. One of my goals this year is to try to propagate my plants more. Will definitely be trying this with my one lone surviving mum lol Also loved how you used an Allen key as a dibber!! Going to be stealing that idea 😊
@michelledeehorticultrist thank you and yes ya gotta do it, it's so easy! :)
@summerskyegardens how do you go about being a supplier for other growers? Any tips?
My favorite seed starting mix too! You can easily order enough online for free shipping🎉

GEO Seeds anyone can order from them you (do not) need to have a wholesale account
@@dawnweiss9222 just figured that out!
You are so organized- wow!! Thanks for all the great tips and info - so helpful
@@jeanatkinson190 thanks Jean!!
Im a very visual learner so I thank you for your detailed video. I liked you showed your paper organization as well as what it translates into, in your garden. QUESTION:how do you decide or why are some plants(areas) being grown through weed barrier and some just in the soil next to the drip. And some weed barriers are walkway.
@@marciar8909 thank you! So the only thing I would ideally plant without weedcloth are the sunflowers, because I direct sow them, and my bulbs and corms because it's easier for me without weed cloth. Everything else ideally would go into holes in weed cloth, but since I have the upick and bulb field already set up with open beds, I try to pick to out sunflowers there as well as anything that will get big and bushy to block out weed growth
😮😮
❤
Thanks for video! Did you cover all your cool flowers during with this crazy snow?
@@doramaldonado4460 I did, to be safe. And I think they are all good, uncovered today! I wasn't worried about the snow as much as if anything melted and then frozen again and got icy
Do you plant plugs in the ground in January, or seeds in plug trays?

Hey Dani, great video! Love Zinnias. I’m in North Alabama with similar weather as you and the Zinnias are workhorses! Just a quick note about Geo Seeds. They don’t require a wholesale account. I'm in SC Zone 8b so a bit cooler than you but still very hot. So good to hear someone that understands heat. I'm curious about day length for your warm season plants in the fall. How do Celosia and others that are day length sensitive do under short days? Mine tend to get short and go to seed really quickly in the fall. Our first frost is not until the first of Nov or so.
Hey there! Yes I would agree with that for the fall, which is why I just start one succession. We have long hot days through October but once into November it does start cooling off and the days start getting shorter. At that point I am just seeing if they can hang in there til Thanksgiving, then we may get a frost in December (or not) but I shut down my sales.
@@summerskyegardens makes sense. I'm planning my fall succession to go in the ground in late July.
This video was perfect timing. I went wild on buying Zinnia seeds today over here in zone 8B. Came home and found this video. 🤔… Thank you!!

I have grown agastache the last few years - it does really well in our southern heat and the bees LOVE it. Happy to send you some seeds - it’s easy to collect seeds too
@jeanatkinson190 ill have to try that! I'm pretty sure it's in my wildflower mix so I'll have to see if any comes up in the field as well. Dyou use it as a cut?

I should have known you were a LMZ grower - love her and am loving your videos - I’m 9a so it’s so helpful
Haha yeah she is in a much cooler area but I do find a ton her advice to be so helpful even for my zone. And I am a lifelong learner so why not! Happy to help out whenever I can!
@ I love learning too! You may already know this but just learned that aphids dislike chives so may try planting some by my mum. I’m going to try cuttings too. Thanks so much for all your knowledge - we have friends moving to tx so I may come visit one day 😊
Love the video! Super helpful! I'm looking into growing some snapdragons on our farm but saw the different groupings- I saw some are made for the heat, I believe group 3? Do you recommend growing those in TX or do you only stick to cool season snaps?
@unseennevada256 so your best bet, and I've taken this advice from Lisa Mason Ziegler who does this, is to fall plant several groups. They will flower at different times depending on the day length and temps, but overall snaps don't like extreme heat. I've had good success with different groupings, but usually get blooms from mid March through end of May. By June we start having too many 90+ and 100+ days and even the later groups don't like it.
@@summerskyegardens Incredible, thank you so much!
