soundcloud has clearly produced better artists there’s not even a debate, the following all came from soundcloud: uzi, carti, x, trippie, yachty, juice and so many more so it’s not close. Tiktok has blown up some great rappers for sure and tbh i don’t see tiktok as a bad thing for music. It gives artists a platform from a song of theirs that blew up and then it’s simple, from there they either ride that one song and don’t have any talent so they fade away, or they are talented and continue to have good numbers for their other songs so it’s not like they’re then around forever cus they get forgotten if they aren’t talented
SoundCloud rappers don't make music for views or clout,they made it for just fun and entertainment the most, but TikTok rappers are more cringe and they music is blunt, there's nothing wrong with a song blowing up on TikTok but it shouldn't be made for that purpose.
there is no debate, the soundcloud era had way more actual talent and produced far more memorable artists. Shit blows the tiktok rappers out the water. Denzel Curry, Jasiah, Rico Nasty, PNB rock, Ski mask the slump god, X, Zillakami and City Morgue their entire catalog would obliterate all the tiktok rappers. It ain't even glaze that's just fax. They definitely had their downs in terms of artist but even the best Tiktok rappers ain't putting out the same numbers as some of the WORST of the soundcloud era. Not a single one of these tiktok era rappers put out a hit like Gucci gang and lil pump was straight garbage.
tbh the 2021 scene was fire but they just couldnt go the extra mile as some became stagnant and it didnt help that most were known for 15 sec songs

I think when u get down to it, soundcloud was a community built on getting clout from one’s music, rather then tik tok that focuses on getting any type of clout. And it makes it so that the music isn’t sole point in what got someone good clout.
