yes , you are right . The acm is easy process , but V type groove always request thicker alu.skin thickness more safety , the U Type drill will better for the acm grooving .

Pvdf coating always is 2 layer or 3 layers paint , the paint thickness over 27 micron , better weather resistant , main to the exterior wall cladding decoration , have durability 15 years with matte colors . PE coating , polyester coating , always is 1 layer paint for now , the paint thickness over 16 micron , the weather resistant not so good as Pvdf , could produce matte colors and glossy colors , main to the interior wall decoration and signage field . How to indentify this 2 paint :

1. Acid test 2. Alkaline test 3. the paint thickness test 4. professional Lab test

Mike, I think just using a v groove bit or a u shape bit will give you the results you're looking for. Just need a router to groove out the channel.
