Hardboot Splitboarding Equipment: Spark R&D Canted Pucks
The Spark R&D canted pucks help to alleviate pronating stress on your knees while riding in hard plastic boots. Most hardboot bindings have some canting incorporated somewhere in the component.

Unboxing: Spark Tech Toes
Просмотров 956 месяцев назад
When it comes to hardboot splitboarding many components are unique. Amongst them is the tech toe piece used for skinning uphill. This toe piece provides greater range of motion, with a longer stride, less resistance, and easier kick turns. As a result the tech toe is intergal to the high performing hardboot splitboard set up. With several options for tech toes out there the choice comes down to...

    I think it's important to note that like all Splitboard hardboots, these Disruptives are rebranded Roxa's like Phantoms with Atomics. They are modified directly from the factory to make it feel like a soft boot and they punch new holes for the ankle strap which is a positive but once again these are all rebranded items. I will say they are very comfortable and work great!

  • @gobig67
    @gobig67 6 месяцев назад

    Hey! I recently picked these up after demoing them. When you are in walk mode, do you keep any of the straps engaged (ie the lever down)? I’ve been walking with only the ankle strap down but im seeing wear points on the plastic material thats a little concerning

  • @burakurgancoglu6908
    @burakurgancoglu6908 6 месяцев назад

    Thanks for this! I'm really curious about a Phantom Slipper vs Disruptive comparison. Do you have experience with the former?

    • @gnar_tar
      @gnar_tar 3 месяца назад

      I have both (Atomic Backland with the Link Lever), Disruptive are more comfy but a bit heavier. Disruptive are a lot more durable and does not feel flimsy at all. One season on the backland and they were pretty much ruined. Disruptive also comes with a proper liner compared to the paper thin liner in the Atomic (you will want a intuition liner). Overall once you get use to the flex of the Disruptive, everything is better about it. If you like stiffer boots, I would recommend order the stiff tongue for the Disruptive .

    • @burakurgancoglu6908
      @burakurgancoglu6908 24 дня назад

      Thanks a lot for this. I think you’ve broken Phantom’s heart, they’ve just announced they’re stopping boot production :)

  • @Raidah87
    @Raidah87 6 месяцев назад

    It didn't seem like there was that much travel in walk mode when you were cranking on them? How do they actually walk?

    • @jereburrell
      @jereburrell 6 месяцев назад

      These were quite new with a new after market liner at time of filming. Now while skinning uphill they flex as easy as any other boot Ive owned.

    • @TheWhitenigga91
      @TheWhitenigga91 6 месяцев назад

      as an owner of these I can say they have quite big range of montion when walking. I'm walking with the cuff lever unlocked as this is significantly reducing the flex and allowing much more freedom. When it's locked, it tightens the tongue which is great for riding, but then it's a bit hard to move the boot by hand to do a demo, like it is in the case.

      @@jereburrell is the cuffrange of motion the same as for the backland? Thanks for reviewing. :)

    I'm on my second season with these and am a big fan! They ride like soft boots on the downhill. I do find the velcro straps annoying and worry about them wearing out (though I'm sure they can be replaced)

    • @jereburrell
      @jereburrell 6 месяцев назад

      Sure, the strap also adds into the soft boot flex profile that ladder strap/ buckle couldn't.

      There was always a bit of apprehension once the cracks really progressed. Questioning if it could break off entirely. While that never happened I replaced the boots fairly quickly. My current pair of Atomic Backlands haven't cracked and that maybe in part because its a softer flexing boot.
