It is advisable not to run the unit during the fuel tank cleaning or polishing service. During the cleaning process, the diesel fuel is agitated while extracting water and debris, causing any existing contaminants in the tank to become suspended and sucked into the engine's fuel supply. This poses a significant risk of clogging the filters or causing damage to internal fuel system components. It is best to keep the unit in the off position or locked out during any fuel tank maintenance procedures. After completion, it should also be kept offline for an additional 30 minutes. This will allow any residual particulates that may have been missed during cleaning to settle back to the bottom of the tank, minimizing potential risks to the system.

Your question is best answered by a professional who performs an onsite assessment, but here are a few important steps to take: inform AQMD and/or the City of removal, drain all fluids including fuel, oil, and coolant, disconnect and /or remove batteries, disconnect all conductors from generator and ATS (depending on whether the ATS is staying or going), arrange truck transport, installation and permitting in new location. I believe the generator he's referring to is a standby generator. Portable generators, should be exercised every month or two., for about 15 to 30 min. under load.
